PM Roundup: This Has Nothing To Do With Sports
Baseball, Fighting, MMA, NBA, NFL, Soccer, UFC August 5th. 2008, 3:30pm
Alessandra Ambrosio at the recent Victoria’s Secret photo shoot. As far as photo shoots go, this one was the most. (Warning: Link contains multiple scantily clad models.) And yes, I’m aware that this picture has nothing to do with sports. Nothing at all. That being said - Keep up the good work EA!
Oh, and if you’re interested, I’ll be hosting a live-chat with Stugotz tomorrow at 1:15.* If you’ve ever wanted to know about LeBatard’s hair care regimen, discuss the lyrics to Will Smith’s Miami, or are just curious to know what cortes will be like in 10 years… Stop by or contribute some questions.
Fedor hurt his hand pummeling Tim Sylvia, so he’s out for Affliction’s next PPV. It’s going to be a bit tougher to sell Arlovski-Barnett. (MMAjunkie.com)
I’m going to go out on a limb and call this NSFW. See… She’s… He’s… They’re… It’s a Guiness commercial. (NextRound)
Anne Hathaway has a nude photo set that is going to be leaked on the internets. (FOXNews)
Greg Oden is playing like he’s 30 again. (FanHouse)
The Floor Burn Tournament. I can’t believe Corey Maggette didn’t make it in. (Hoops Addict)
The Vikings’ punter wails on Guitar Hero. (The Slanch Report)
The pressure is on Brock Lesnar this Saturday. (Yahoo!)
Soccer player beats another with a lug wrench. (Unprofessional Foul)
I also challenge the notion that a clubhouse fight brings a team together, but instead of writing about it, I’m just linking about it. (Page 2)
ESPN needs to hire more ugly women. (LJWorld)
Not nearly as sexy as our last CFL-related link. (The Sports Point)
A site that could replace RedLasso in your hearts: FanDome. (Thrillist)
*Not really, he’s too busy to talk to anyone associated with this site.

ESPN needs to hire more ugly women.
On this post one of the comments was “Jay Marriotti”. Hit the nail on the head with that one.
August 5th, 2008 at 3:35 pm
You can already see most of Anne Hathaway (as well as Bijou Phillips) in Havoc. Definitely worth seeing/renting just to fast forward to the “good” parts.
August 5th, 2008 at 3:36 pm
Bijou Phillips got naked in Bully and also in Hostel 2 I believe.
August 5th, 2008 at 3:38 pm
I… she… uh… holy…
August 5th, 2008 at 3:40 pm
I don’t think Bijou Phillips owns clothing.
August 5th, 2008 at 3:42 pm
Nor should she
August 5th, 2008 at 3:43 pm
That Guiness commercial was awesome
August 5th, 2008 at 3:46 pm
That Guisness commercial would never see the light of day on US television. Makes me almost want to go out and buy some.
August 5th, 2008 at 3:47 pm
Anyone who thinks Bijou Phillips should wear clothing shouldn’t even be allowed to look at women and should have their man card revoked.
/charliewade

August 5th, 2008 at 3:48 pm
now that was a find. great commercial.
August 5th, 2008 at 3:48 pm
That commercial was mawney…!
August 5th, 2008 at 3:49 pm
Ambrosia may very well be the hottest woman alive. Sweet mercy.
August 5th, 2008 at 3:49 pm
I have a feeling Charliewade is going to have a long initiation process.
August 5th, 2008 at 3:51 pm
Good job Benji plus 4
August 5th, 2008 at 3:52 pm
charliewade = Intern Bill
August 5th, 2008 at 3:53 pm
besides NickP’s answer, who the hell is charliewade?
August 5th, 2008 at 3:55 pm
Sparty -
On the bar post, scroll down and he berates someone for saying Applebee’s was his favorite bar. Obviously, Applebees was a joke. The TBL commenters took it from there.
August 5th, 2008 at 3:56 pm
Should be this comment here.
August 5th, 2008 at 3:56 pm
CharlieWade
August 5th, 2008 at 3:58 pm
fuck that, Applebees rules.
August 5th, 2008 at 3:59 pm
Read Charliewade’s Q and A session at eh bottom of the Favre post…priceless
/Can’t be Intern Bill..he is a better writer
August 5th, 2008 at 3:59 pm
Makes me almost want to go out and gang bang a chick.
By yourself?
August 5th, 2008 at 3:59 pm
Sparty’s actually right…after 9pm. Half-price appetizers are the only reason to go there.
August 5th, 2008 at 3:59 pm
applebees sucks. worst of those kind of restaurants IMO.
Champps >> Chilis >> Fridays >> missing a few >> Applebees
August 5th, 2008 at 4:00 pm
@Nick: you sure it’s not here?
August 5th, 2008 at 4:00 pm
Ruby Tuesday’s shits on Applebee’s
August 5th, 2008 at 4:00 pm
Ricky Bobby thinks you suck benji
August 5th, 2008 at 4:01 pm
unfortunately they are ending the 3 course menu starting at 9.99.
August 5th, 2008 at 4:02 pm
Ruby’s has the kickass salad bar.
August 5th, 2008 at 4:02 pm
Makes me almost want to go out and gang bang a chick.
By yourself?
I take that back I just saw the commecial. Oh my god thats funny.
August 5th, 2008 at 4:02 pm
Benji- Chili’s is way to high on that list.
August 5th, 2008 at 4:02 pm
I’m thirsty.
August 5th, 2008 at 4:03 pm
Is that commercial where GuinnessGirl got her screenname?
August 5th, 2008 at 4:03 pm
Damon’s and Max & Erma’s need a shout-out.
Are those national?
Fuck ton of them in Ohio.
August 5th, 2008 at 4:04 pm
No. 1 = Outback.
August 5th, 2008 at 4:04 pm
I think Maxim did a beer temp test a few years ago that included all of those “chain” restaurants. I can’t remember all the places they include, but it definitely had TGI Fridays, Applebees, Ruby Tuesdays, Bennigans, and Chilis. Applebees by far had the warmest draught beer on average. I don’t think I’ve been there since reading that.
August 5th, 2008 at 4:04 pm
Red Robin
August 5th, 2008 at 4:05 pm
Max and Ermas rules…thats where you go to eat before you head over to Dick O’Dows.
August 5th, 2008 at 4:05 pm
YYSA: i didn’t really think it over that much. But Chilis is the tits. the Chicken Crispers are finger licking good. Champps is the top for sure.
August 5th, 2008 at 4:05 pm
Is it the pretzels, CRM?
August 5th, 2008 at 4:05 pm
Red Robin is the bomb too. i couldn’t remember the name though.
August 5th, 2008 at 4:05 pm
Nick P-I think M&E is regional.
August 5th, 2008 at 4:05 pm
Damon’s is good. they have one down here. Olive Garden wins this round
August 5th, 2008 at 4:06 pm
I get my J’s at Champs, but not any appetizers.
August 5th, 2008 at 4:06 pm
Is that commercial where GuinnessGirl got her screenname?
HA!
August 5th, 2008 at 4:06 pm
Red Robin gives me a free burger on my birthday. So, it has got that going for it.
August 5th, 2008 at 4:07 pm
Olive Garden? They go one of those around here…it is for mocking an laughing at on the way to a good Italian Restaurant.
/snooty New York food snob
August 5th, 2008 at 4:08 pm
The only thing I like about Chilis is the fact that its always happy hour.
August 5th, 2008 at 4:08 pm
roman, we know you’re a food snob alright.
/you set yourself up for that one
August 5th, 2008 at 4:08 pm
If I were to be involved in a foursome, I’d probably request my own beer. Sharing with three other guys would appear to be unsanitary.
August 5th, 2008 at 4:09 pm
Benji- Chili’s has always been filled with disappointment for me. It may just be the one by my house has shitty service but everytime I go back there I leave regretting it.
August 5th, 2008 at 4:09 pm
that must be the tamest thing ever if they can keep a beer balanced on a girl’s back.
August 5th, 2008 at 4:10 pm
every damon’s up here in ohio and penn has gone to complete and utter shit, irish. red robin for the bottomless fries. bennigans for the beer selection. chili’s for their fresh salsa. hef’s house for his wife’s biscuits.
August 5th, 2008 at 4:10 pm
I hate those “At Olive Garden, everyone’s a Yankee fan” commercials.
I enjoy the food there though.
August 5th, 2008 at 4:10 pm
@KC Res: well thought out thinking by you.
August 5th, 2008 at 4:10 pm
If you care about being sanitary why would you participate in a foursome anyway?
/Charliewade
August 5th, 2008 at 4:11 pm
ever heard of a spoiler alert, fetchy?
August 5th, 2008 at 4:11 pm
@roman- its the Breadsticks that get me
August 5th, 2008 at 4:11 pm
There is NOTHING good about Chilli’s.
August 5th, 2008 at 4:12 pm
RWH-for the life of me i cannot understand how any of these companies think they can make money around here. Dominos? AYFKM?
I think Einstein Bagels is the only company I can think of that has never attempted to open up in the NYC metro area because there is not a chance in hell anyone is going to get bagels there.
August 5th, 2008 at 4:12 pm
how bout for a Steak? any of you ballers go to a Ruth Chris Steakhouse?
August 5th, 2008 at 4:13 pm
There is NOTHING good about Chilli’s.
2 for 1 magaritas + nachos
August 5th, 2008 at 4:13 pm
Okay, I will have to watch the commercial at home(I have my name cause I love guinness). Also, I agree with jb49, you can’t go wrong if it is 2 for 1 all day..
August 5th, 2008 at 4:13 pm
Ruth Chris is the shit.
Boneless spicy chicken at Chilli’s is tremendous
August 5th, 2008 at 4:14 pm
a plethora of nubile waitresses
August 5th, 2008 at 4:14 pm
Sparty..I had an Einstein Bagels near my house 7 years ago..it closed in 5 months
Irish…I have heard good things about the breadsticks…but the only time I was at an Olive Garden I was in Rochester and I was a bit hammered celebrating a buddies college graduation
August 5th, 2008 at 4:14 pm
irish, they don’t have Ruth Chris in Wisconsin i don’t believe. but their commercials are all over ESPN Radio so i don’t think i’ll ever be going there. i’d rather go to a local steakhouse which Milwaukee has a few awesome ones.
August 5th, 2008 at 4:14 pm
anyone been to a Dick’s Last Resort?
August 5th, 2008 at 4:15 pm
@ Sparty - In N’ Out would be a goldmine here.
August 5th, 2008 at 4:15 pm
Bennigans just went under last week. The only ones left are going to be private owned.
And all of these places are full of (mostly unattrictive) middle-aged women during happy hours. It’s fucking depressing.
August 5th, 2008 at 4:15 pm
I like Ruth’s Chris, they have managed to take a fine steak house an duplicate it
August 5th, 2008 at 4:16 pm
roman, Olive Garden is nothing to write home about. Buca Di Beppos however, is fantastic.
August 5th, 2008 at 4:17 pm
@Sparty - I got hammered at a Dick’s in Chicago last year. I went straight from a booze cruise on the lake, and got obliterated that night.
August 5th, 2008 at 4:17 pm
Ruth’s Chris is great but if we are talking about chains, you could eat at Chili’s or Friday’s or any of those places for week for the same price as 1 meal at Ruth’s Chris
August 5th, 2008 at 4:17 pm
Ruth Chris is nice. I also like J. Alexander. Guisnessgirl you are gonna love the commercial
August 5th, 2008 at 4:18 pm
Wildfire > Ruth’s Chris
August 5th, 2008 at 4:18 pm
/fixed.
August 5th, 2008 at 4:18 pm
sparty…dicks last resort is always a good time.
high-end steakhouses lend well to duplication…ruth criss, morton’s, flemings…all good.
August 5th, 2008 at 4:18 pm
anyone been to Flemmings?
August 5th, 2008 at 4:18 pm
“(I have my name cause I love guinness).” Guinessgirl
Yep. That’s guinessgirl in the video.
Guinessgirl - How did you learn that technique? You are quite the talent.
August 5th, 2008 at 4:18 pm
@sparty- i think they used to have one in the Flats in Cleveland. I have been to that one. Wait staff is rude and crude. I like that
@illformula- i heard that. That place was okay
August 5th, 2008 at 4:18 pm
@Benji, Ruths Chris is mawney but it is far from cheap. You can’t really compare it to most steak houses since the average meal for two there will run you around $100 to $200.
August 5th, 2008 at 4:18 pm
@irish - there’s a Ruth’s Chris about 2 miles from my house and they have some deal where two people eat for $89.99. great deal for their typical prices and the food is exquisite, but damn, after tipping, and a drink or two, we’re still looking about $125 lighter in the wallet. that’s quite a hit.
August 5th, 2008 at 4:19 pm
tampa bo…flemings is pretty solid.
August 5th, 2008 at 4:19 pm
best wine list of any premium chain joint by far.
August 5th, 2008 at 4:19 pm
Ruth Chris > Flemings IMO
August 5th, 2008 at 4:20 pm
@nomo- i second that. looks like it is just me and you who drink some vino
August 5th, 2008 at 4:21 pm
Miz, thats the Summer special that i hear all over internet radio. i’ve been to Flemings. it was really good. for a steak house to succeed, they need good meat, good service and a good wine list. it’s not rocket science.
August 5th, 2008 at 4:22 pm
i have a refined palate and my aunt is a sommelier and owns a wine store, but i just could never get into wine. i just don’t like the taste.
August 5th, 2008 at 4:23 pm
screw work too. I can’t beleive I missed charliewade dogging me for my pick of Applebees. I bet charliewade wouldn’t approve of my affinity for the clothing at JCPenney.
August 5th, 2008 at 4:23 pm
i’m a big fan of the vino. but the headache the next day is so terrible. i can only get drunk off of wine on special occasions.
August 5th, 2008 at 4:24 pm
Flemmings has Lobster Temporia dont know where you can find that anywere else. I like the Palm down here they had a knob creek dinner where everything was made with knob creek. I was drunk in 10 mins…Im serious.
August 5th, 2008 at 4:24 pm
Red vino only and never with just guys at the table. But it’s by far the best choice for alcohol on a date. Girls get wet drunk (not sloppy) on some vino.
August 5th, 2008 at 4:25 pm
@nomo: You got any Rooster’s down your way?
August 5th, 2008 at 4:25 pm
@spencer - I used to hate all wine until I became a bartender in college and would force myself to try all different kinds. now I drink it when
I watch my Vols playI’m in a professional social setting and am comfortable with multiple types.August 5th, 2008 at 4:26 pm
my favorite client of all-time was the Napa Valley Vintner’s Association. my corporate amex and hosting them for client dinners ruined me for life.
August 5th, 2008 at 4:26 pm
Irish I love wine too..actually it is usually what I drink the most. Maybe I should think about changing my name. ChardonnayGirl just doesn’t have the same ring..
August 5th, 2008 at 4:27 pm
nick, rooster’s is based in dayton (and they’re spin-off of sorts, fricker’s). the wings are the bomb. but for wings, i gotta give my marina’s bar the gold medal. massive, fresh-never-frozen wings from a local farm.
August 5th, 2008 at 4:29 pm
Miz..by your comments today I have learned you are eitehr cheap or poor
Irish…Love a good glass of Vin…I am a Cabernet guy..I like to put a nice Cab in some Coke bottles and bring them to the Met games
August 5th, 2008 at 4:30 pm
Not a fan of wine, but will drink Pinot Grigio on occasion. I’m a beer or vodka girl.
August 5th, 2008 at 4:30 pm
a place in Davenport IA called the Filling Station had the best wings i’ve ever had.
/trys to start best wings conversation
August 5th, 2008 at 4:30 pm
are you saying that the Soprano’s dinners at Vesuvio looked gay?
August 5th, 2008 at 4:30 pm
For our anniversary me and the wife bought a bottle of yellow tail cant remember which one though. She didn’t like the taste so I drunk the whole bottle cant really recall what happened next.
August 5th, 2008 at 4:33 pm
None of the wine drinkers here are Chianti fans? For shame.
August 5th, 2008 at 4:33 pm
SG..ahh vodka..okay lets just say I am an equal opportunity boozer..If you like flavored vodka try a stoli blueberry martini. Skyy has served me well also for no hangovers..
August 5th, 2008 at 4:33 pm
RWH-they opened up Papa John’s around here a few months back. The only time i could see someone using that place is if they had a huge party and needed like 10 large pies or more (that can get steep). what annoys me is when places like that have a “Brooklyn style” and try to sell it around these parts.
August 5th, 2008 at 4:33 pm
@nomo, we have a frickers up in Ft Wayne but their wings are far from good. Only reason to go there is cheap beer and check out the waitresses, although they’ve been going downhill lately.
August 5th, 2008 at 4:34 pm
@roman- nice. I like sneaking in rum and cokes to Magic games.
August 5th, 2008 at 4:35 pm
@RWH - hence the root of the call name
mi·ser [ mizər ] - somebody who hoards money: somebody who hates spending money and lives as though he or she were poor
just kidding. I’m kinda cheap cause I’m not far removed from my college days when I was a po’ bastard. I like to spend money on my wife, but not on myself at all.
August 5th, 2008 at 4:36 pm
This is from College Humor and mocks those horrible chains and their weak sauce.
August 5th, 2008 at 4:36 pm
I’m not a big wine drinker prefer cognac, vodka and beer.
August 5th, 2008 at 4:37 pm
probably would. a good burgers are hard to find. however White Manna in Hackensack is sooooo good. it is White Castle on roids.
for the Michiganders, Greene’s Hamburgers in Farmington Hills. Hunter House is really good too.
August 5th, 2008 at 4:37 pm
guinness - most of the time I drink Kettle and tonics, but I’ve definitely had my fair share of flavored vodka martinis. Yummy. My friend and I got completely drunk off our asses drinking Raspberry Stoli lemonades the other day.
August 5th, 2008 at 4:39 pm
/lez boat’d
August 5th, 2008 at 4:39 pm
AWWWWWWWWWW…how cute…you’ll learn
August 5th, 2008 at 4:40 pm
are you saying that the Soprano’s dinners at Vesuvio looked gay?
A lot of things European people do look gay to Americans.
August 5th, 2008 at 4:40 pm
tommy z, i’m actually sitting at Grand Lake St. Mary’s right now, just down the road from you.
pierre’s wears me out…

August 5th, 2008 at 4:42 pm
i have a batch of 6 bottles of limoncello going right now if anyone wants to stop by.
August 5th, 2008 at 4:44 pm
Ah, nothing like drinking Pledge. It’s delicious.
August 5th, 2008 at 4:44 pm
we are all fools, miz. we thought once we got married that the sex would always be there…how dumb we all are…
August 5th, 2008 at 4:44 pm
@rex, yea it can do that to you. We used to go there a couple of nights a week because all the kids from ipfw would go there and they have some decent drink prices. It’s just the same people every night though which gets a little old after a while
August 5th, 2008 at 4:45 pm
I drink wine, Menage a Trios is one of my favs cheap and good. I tell the hoes its some 1948 latrell Spreewell and its all good.
August 5th, 2008 at 4:45 pm
st. bear, have you only had the commercially bottled stuff?
August 5th, 2008 at 4:47 pm
@sparty my buddy doesn’t have a steady g/f so he thinks I have it made because in his words “At least you have it next to you every night.”
August 5th, 2008 at 4:50 pm
@Rex: I had it in a restaurant in Italy, so I don’t think so, but maybe. I just remember it being crazy strong, and I don’t remember anything after that.
August 5th, 2008 at 4:51 pm
Hahahahahahahahaha!!!!!
August 5th, 2008 at 4:59 pm
yeah, that about sums it up.
August 5th, 2008 at 4:59 pm
jb…remind your buddy you used to have all of your money but now half of it is laying next to you and liek the sex she won’t let you have it
August 5th, 2008 at 5:02 pm
Not only that, but also remind him you never get BJs because apparently every woman stops doing that once she gets married.
/married woman stereotype
August 5th, 2008 at 5:02 pm
@ Roman lol he just doesn’t understand.
August 5th, 2008 at 5:07 pm
it’s not a stereotype anymore when it’s 100% true is it?
August 5th, 2008 at 5:10 pm
not true at all.
August 5th, 2008 at 5:13 pm
@sparty - it’s ok, we’re all friends in here. you don’t have to lie. if you’re not fibbing, I hate you and envy you at the same time.
August 5th, 2008 at 5:17 pm
miz, sparty is confusing his own sex life with the stuff he watches on the internet.
August 5th, 2008 at 5:18 pm
not lying, but it’s just that they don’t finish you off once you get married. so not sure which is worse?
August 5th, 2008 at 5:20 pm
beleive you me, none at all is worse. as a wise man once said, “it is better to have been blown without the happy ending than to not have been blown at all.”
August 5th, 2008 at 5:23 pm
beleive = believe for the policia ortografÃa/gramática out there
August 5th, 2008 at 5:25 pm
@sparty I think none at all is just a lil worse.
August 5th, 2008 at 5:28 pm
Miz - I only call out for bad grammar, typos are ok as they’re clearly not intentional.
August 5th, 2008 at 5:36 pm
not targeting you, sportsgal; merely covering my rear.
