So about those Clausen photos: Yeesh. Jeff Carroll, in a column for the South Bend Tribune wrote:

By the standards of the My Space era, they are quite tame. No one is vomiting, no one is passed out. Everyone is fully clothed. When viewed in comparison to some of the troublesome recent goings-on in other major college football programs, such as Penn State, the photos are more than mild.

Agree completely. Carroll could have added Georgia, too. Clausen won’t get in any trouble, nor should he. Tough spot for the kid – he’s a virtual celebrity on campus, as is any QB at ND. Of course people are going to break out the cameras when he shows up at parties, and of course Clausen is going to attend parties, which college kids should do. Again, we find nothing wrong this photo – and we feel the same way about the Matt Leinart pictures that emerged earlier this year.

Athletes unwind in the offseason, and often, this will – and should – include partying. Assuming the Clausen photos were not taken from August-December … where’s the beef?

BONUS! With some prodding, we’re going to reveal one classy email from an ND fan whose email shall remain hidden:

Hey,

What kind of scum sucking cunt posts pictures of college kids drinking beer at a party?

I don’t give a shit if it was J**** F**king Ch****, only a worthless cocksucker trades in this kind of shit.

Fuck you.

For like 18 minutes yesterday, after this email and many others, we nearly stopped loving the Notre Dame fight song. Fact: It was downloaded onto our last ipod. There are few greater things in life than getting in a morning workout on Saturdays in the fall, going for a run, and hearing that song as we get primed for a day in front the couch watching college football.
