Michael Phelps Wins Gold #3

Michael Phelps keeps doing what he does - swim faster than all the other kids in the pool. Phelps won his third gold medal of the 2008 Olympics. When all is said and done, he hopes to have 8.
Number 3 came in the 200 Metre Freestyle. Oh, and if you were wondering, it was “another world record.” Phelps won with a time of 1:42.96. It’s the first time anyone has ever been clocked under 1:43. It goes without saying - but I’ll say it anyway - he’s nasty.
Oh, and while I was typing this, he tied the Olympic record in another qualifying event. Three down - five to go.

First, Michael Phelps is the fucking man. To steal from Simmons (which pains me), I have a man-crush on him.
And I vote for Chris Berman. I hate that gasbag.

This isn’t a CoRM complaint, but an NBC one…
As a person living on the West coast I should just give up on trying to watch anything “live”right. I mean the other alternative is to completely avoid all sports websites, blogs and pretty much everything huh?
And Fuck NBC. not only do they not just man up and show the feed live to the pacific, but they still use the exact same coverage where they say “here live from Beijing”. I know it’s not fucking live Jesus.
And I say this with no malice towards CoRM or TBL, but a small request from us left-coasters… can we at least treat Olympic news like a movie. You know, maybe a small preview with a “spoilers after the jump”?

I was at work in the breakroom when Phelps was winning his first medal on one TV. NBC had on the top of the screen “live”. On the second TV in the breakroom, ESPN news was on, talking about Phelps win. For a full second, I was confused thinking ESPN was clairvoyant…

I think the Olympic cat is out of the bag. People should treat it like a movie and not worry about “spoilers” or “plausibly live.” Just enjoy the performances and don’t treat it like actual sports.

Wait no that’s not what i was sating… NBCs the asshole for tape delaying live events when they happen in primetime here in the pacific. I just politely asked that in future updates CoRM post it as a spoiler alert.

His hugging on Phelps mom and then when MP waves to his mom from the medal stand, there’s Collinsworth WAVING BACK?!? Ugh. That was ugly.
