Kobe Meets Gay Former NBA Player John Amaechi … “It Didn’t Go Well”
Kind of Gay, NBA August 18th. 2008, 9:00am
Openly gay former NBA player John Amaechi is blogging in Beijing, and also serving as a basketball analyst for the BBC. In a brief but candid interview with the Rocky Mountain News (via Mike Responts), Amaechi said that he’s encountered “some tension” from the USA basketball team at the Olympics.
He mentioned seeing Lakers star Kobe Bryant. “I ran into Kobe, and he was surprised to see me,” Amaechi said. “It didn’t go well.”
Harboring a guess: Did Kobe tell him the wrestling team was on the other side of the cafeteria?

You’d think they could at least discuss the intracacies of anal sex.

Hopefully Amaechi will enlighten us all as to what happened… it’s funny how people tend to be far more homophobic when they aren’t held accountable for their behavior.

honestly, who gives a shit? why does kobe have to like this dude, because he came out and played, shittily, in a pro sports league?
fuck amaechi (not literally, not that there’s anything wrong with that) but if he didn’t show up on every tv show peddling his book, nobody would’ve given half a shit.

Speaking of this, did anyone see the interview with Shelden Williams at the Olympics. The reporter did his best to avoid directly asking, “So, since you’re not good enough to represent our country, what’s it like sitting in the stands and being a cheerleader for your wife playing the same sport?”

Isn’t Kobe among the more open and cosmopolitan of NBA players?
August 18th, 2008 at 9:37 am
Tim Hardaway is smiling.

Kobe speaks three or four languages, and dislikes homosexuals in every one.

Know how I know you’re gay? You came out and told everyone in a nationally televised interview.
August 18th, 2008 at 10:18 am
Wow, all Amaechi had to do is say the conversation between him and Kobe didn’t go well and that makes Kobe a homophobe?
August 18th, 2008 at 10:27 am
sorry John, I guess you just aren’t young enough (or white enough) for Kobe…
August 18th, 2008 at 10:35 am
Also, it really takes 20 comments until somebody makes the “Amaechi probably asked Kobe how his ass tastes” joke?!! Really?!? Hang your heads in shame gentlemen.

Not that I would ever defend Kobe, but I’ve worked with Amaechi and the guy always feels slighted, whether it is real, perceived or otherwise.
