The Roundup: Have Ravens Fans Lost Their Minds?
Baseball, College Basketball, High School Sports, Media Gossip/Musings, NFL, Olympics August 21st. 2008, 8:00am
Because the fifth season of Lost began shooting this week, but doesn’t begin airing until February: Evangeline Lilly … more on the bloggers at the conventions … “the U.S. consumer is the dumbest and most gullible in the industrialized world” … what are former Playmates up to? … this plane crash in Spain is terribly sad; moreso when you consider almost everyone was going on vacation … still don’t get why college freshman are getting free ipods … swimming in the streets – with alligators! …
Sun-Sentinel columnist Ethan Skolnick: “For instance, I do radio, TV, a blog, etc. Yet we have less access to teams, to get the information that makes us experts. So my fear is that we know less, and yet we are asked to provide more. That’s a troubling combination.” (City of Champs)

TBL — are you going to buy some iBlog t-shirts from TO? I want to get some iBlogComment tees. Or maybe a iDefecate t-shirt might work as well too…
August 21st, 2008 at 8:38 am
They just keep clicking on the adds on TBL, right?
August 21st, 2008 at 8:39 am

August 21st, 2008 at 8:47 am
softball only goes 7 innings right?
August 21st, 2008 at 8:48 am
F* Matt Cassell, he probably does suck. He never played in college and he’s never played in the pros.
August 21st, 2008 at 8:49 am

August 21st, 2008 at 8:50 am
really? i thought at this level they played 9?
/never watched a full game in my life.
August 21st, 2008 at 8:52 am
I definitely could be wrong about the 7 innings thing.
I just checked foxsports.com and they don’t have anything about Upshaw. for such an influential person in the sport, they’re lagging behind right?
August 21st, 2008 at 8:55 am
NBC Sports is the only outlet reporting the Gene Upshaw death. I believe they are citing ClearChannel Radio as their source.
August 21st, 2008 at 8:55 am
They go 7. I can’t believe they lost.
August 21st, 2008 at 8:57 am
here’s that Sharapova event from last night that nobody jumped on.
Next time, one of you NYers should step forward!
August 21st, 2008 at 8:57 am

ESPN has Upshaw’s death now
August 21st, 2008 at 9:01 am
I see someone made a mockery of the Top Commenters page while I was at the game yesterday… good job Hef.
August 21st, 2008 at 9:03 am
Who are they crediting for “breaking” this story? Did Mort report him alive and well?
August 21st, 2008 at 9:05 am
CBS has it too
August 21st, 2008 at 9:15 am
Sad news about Upshaw… he did a lot of good for our true national sport.
August 21st, 2008 at 9:15 am
Yeah ESPN radio makes it seem like this is Mort’s story… “there were various reports and it is now confirmed by Chris Mortenson..” Someone needs to wake Mort up before 9 next time.
August 21st, 2008 at 9:17 am
That’s kind of the point, I think. Cassell doesn’t go out and perform each or any week. He’s a backup, and the point Sharpe and Faulk are making is that after 4 years, he should be able to do that in the system he’s always been in – and he couldn’t. He either doesn’t know the offense or can’t play, and if he doesn’t know the offense after 4 years, he shouldn’t be on a football field anyway.
August 21st, 2008 at 9:18 am
NFL.com didn’t even post his death until about 7 mins ago.
August 21st, 2008 at 9:19 am
on a lighter note, RE: the comment thread about Titans rookie Chris Johnson yesterday, Pete Prisco echoed PK’s praise:
August 21st, 2008 at 9:24 am
good to hear about Chris Johnson. maybe he can be the lightning to Lesdale’s thunder?
August 21st, 2008 at 9:29 am
man I hope so…
August 21st, 2008 at 9:29 am
ha ha, Lesdale supposed to be Lendale. freudian slip I guess.
August 21st, 2008 at 9:36 am
Goodell is glad Upshaw is dead he was a thorn in the Leagues side. He never backed down and its convnient that the CBA is about to expire.
August 21st, 2008 at 9:37 am
August, your avatar reminds me of TO’s t-shirt last night.
Please tell me it didn’t say the same thing… did it?
August 21st, 2008 at 9:38 am
Fucking cortes man…when he is not studying for his Algebra class he is interviewing the Florida Media people and breaking the Manny Ramirez story…I talk to Rexy about cougaring and amateur German BBQ porn…good job kid..I am glad some wise old asshole told you to continue blogging…I will be happy to take it over in October after the Metropolitans win the division and the bet
August 21st, 2008 at 9:59 am
February? Shit, I thought Lost was coming back in January.
August 21st, 2008 at 10:20 am
August, T.O. has a brand of shirts out that play off “iPod”… they all start with “i” and then have a word behind him. T.O. was wearing one last night that said iLove. There’s a saying on the back as well.
August 21st, 2008 at 10:39 am
Thanks for the clarification, SG!
August 21st, 2008 at 11:39 am
Nice pic of “Kate”.
I think Fox Sports Radio (JT the Brick) had Upshaw’s death last night, before anyone. He works for the Raiders, so it would make sense. I think FSR is owned by Clear Channel so that would make sense with that. I don’t think anyone else mentioned it until this morning, that didn’t seem to be to 8-9 AM Eastern.
