Indians 4, Tigers 3 (10): Grady Sizemore became the first Indians outfielder to hit 30 homers and steal 30 bases since Joe Carter in 1987, and the first American Leaguer to accomplish said feat since A. Soriano in 2005. Franklin Gutierrez broke a 3-3 tie with a 10th inning homer off Gary Glover, son of La’Roi.

Phillies 5, Dodgers 0: Brett Myers struck out eight in seven innings and Jimmy Rollins went 3-for-3 with a walk and two RBI to turn the weekend’s boos into Monday’s standing ovation. Man, Philly, that’s a shade of Cardinals fandom hypocrisy. The win finished off Philly’s first sweep of the Dodgers in 23 years, when Pedro Guerrero and Mariano Duncan were household names. Lots of activator juice in those scalps, I say.

White Sox 4, Orioles 3: Jim Thome hit his second homer in as many days and 28th of the season to break a 3-3 tie in the 6th that stood throughout thanks to three shutout innings from Dotel, Thornton and Jenks. Alexei Ramirez had four hits and upped his average to .314. As for Thome, he’s one career homer past Jimmie Foxx and one behind Mickey Mantle. Neither of those two wore a cup as big as Jim’s. Before all that jazz, the Orioles won a suspended game 4-3, which forced the record books to credit Ken Griffey, Jr. as having played for both the Reds and White Sox on April 28th. It’s kind of like when Ravishing Rick Rude appeared on a taped edition of Monday Night Raw and live version of Nitro on the same night in the fall of 1997. I miss you, Ravishing.

Mets 9, Astros 1: Carlos Delgado hit a pair of three-run homers and Mike Pelfrey pitched his second straight complete game, the first Mets pitcher to do that since Bret Saberhagen in 19nobodygivesaflyinggooseass. Pelfrey struck out six and didn’t walk a man against the only team in baseball named after a dog in a Hanna Barbera cartoon. I’d have much preferred Houston’s baseball team be named the Scoobies or Scooby Snacks.

Rangers 9, Royals 4: Nelson Cruz had three hits, including a three-run homer in his season debut for the Rangers. If you’re unfamiliar with Cruz, he was hitting .342 with 37 home runs at Oklahoma and led the minors with a .693 slugging percentage. He follows in the path trailblazed by Jose, Jose Jr., Ivan, Deivi, Jacob, Carnival, Hector and Nelson, according to Chris Berman.
