Koby Clemens Arrested
Baseball, Legal September 1st. 2008, 11:53am
Early Sunday morning there was a disturbance outside Mac & Bob’s Restaurant, a popular Salem, Virginia eatery. (Aside: The Shrimp and Scallop Alfredo sounds delicious.) From The Roanoke Times:
According to the news release, police were dispatched to a disturbance in the restaurant’s parking lot at 2 a.m. on Sunday and, upon their arrival, found approximately 50 people in the lot.
Some members of the minor league baseball team, the Salem Avalanche were involved. One of those players just happened to be Roger Clemens’ son, Koby. Two of Koby Clemens’ teammates were also arrested -Mark Ori and Jimmy Goethals.
Clemens and Ori were charged with disorderly conduct and Goethals with assault and battery. All three were taken to the Roanoke County-Salem Jail before being released on bond, according to a news release from the Salem police.
I’m sure more details will come out once everyone goes back to work tomorrow. You know, once Labor Day is over. Since a Clemens was involved, we can assume the arrest came as the result of extreme levels of douche.
[Thanks to one of our diligent readers for the tip.]

Why the picture change?
September 1st, 2008 at 12:35 pm
Saw the first picture was on FanHouse too. I hate when that happens.

Perhaps the person who called in the disturbance will be accused of “misremembering” what they saw.

Can someone update my m-effing link in the blogroll? It’s only been like three months.

random: has anyone see this Sarah Palin business? I’m hardly up to speed, but from the few stories i’ve read, will she even remain on the ticket through this week?
talk about a debacle of a choice by mccain

I read that McCain knew about the pregnancy before he picked her. It is crazy to think that is true, but the old fart is half-scenile and just relied on his staff for the decision.

should have taken romney. michigan is going to be huge in this election.
September 1st, 2008 at 5:35 pm
It is making the choice pretty tough: Vote for a guy whose VP has a pregnant daughter, or vote for a guy whose wife and mentor both hate America. I’m still undecided.

saw this on gawker … staggering. are we to really believe that palin was in labor during a speech in texas, flew commercial to alaska, and then drove past two hospitals to give birth in the town she governed?
gotta guess that obama’s got this sewn up … (just like clemson had the alabama game locked up!) which means 4 years of angry, angry republican talk radio

A. The food at Mac and Bob’s is OK, but nothing outstanding about it(I’ve been there several times over the years).
B. The comments by some of the right-wingers on Bristol Palin’s pregnancy are laughable, especially the one from the douchebag at Liberty University(”we’re all sinners.” Yeah right; if Falwell was still alive, you wouldn’t be saying that), because if this was either Obama’s or Biden’s kid, they’d be calling for them to step away from the race, and lecturing them on being a responsible parent. So she didn’t use protection; that’s her fuck up(no pun intended). She’s just another in a long and continuous line of babies having babies. Deal with it.

What, you mean a member of the upstanding sports family that is the Clemensi did something illegal? What a shock.
In Re: Palin, I feel like McCain had a chance to improve on Obama’s own VP choice (which was a bit unimaginative) and he blew it. It’s hard to tell how much of a difference it would’ve made, but this doesn’t help him.
September 1st, 2008 at 6:30 pm
Biden has skeletons in his family closet at the moment, too. One thing the GOP is good at is working the story in the public eye, completely forgoing the media. The best thing the Dems could hope for is this story to blow over. The longer it goes on, the more likely they are to get stung.

Tough day at the office Bruce? I think your comments are a little presumptuous don’t you think? That guy from liberty sure sounds like a douchebag, not passing judgement on teenage girl getting pregnant. But I’ll take your word for it since you have the ability to peer into people’s thoughts and know exactly what they would say Obama’s teenage daughter got pregnant.

congrats vijay singh…2nd tourney won in a row and 3rd out of 5. shame he’s not eligible for the ryder cup, pretty sure each side would kill for him.
September 1st, 2008 at 6:58 pm
oh yeah he does…unfortunately i cannot say more than that.

Sarah Quayle will be trouble for McCain. This is just the first of many times she will be a liability.
BTW – It is obvious that Mother Nature has a liberal bias.

Gossip girl 2nd season premier coming on soon. I’m predicting TBL dedicates an entire post to this welcome day.
/going to give it one last try, but really this on is it.

I don’t know, Chelsea. The fact that AlGore gave his big Global Warming speech on one of the coldest days in NYC history may refute that point.

1) Palin will remain the VP candidate. If McCain gets rid of her, he pisses a lot of people off, consequently, having no chance at winning.
2) McCain knew this, it was nothing new. I’ve read stories that it may actually help Palin. A real american family. Shows that she’s down to earth. Also helps that the kid will have the baby. Yes it will lose the religious fanatics, but it won’t do much harm.
3) It’s family..no way the Democrats use this. They bring it up, it makes them look like assholes. The minute they bring it up, they will be torn apart for bringing someone’s family into it, especially a 17-year old daughter.
4) Obama survived the whole “your pastor is a nut” debate and it had little consequence, the same will happen in this case.
I see this as a small speed bump. Nothing will happen, it’ll be in the news tomorrow only because today’s a holiday. By Wed. it’ll be old news.
McCain still gets my vote.

Is Kobe Clemens the father of this illegit kid?
September 1st, 2008 at 9:22 pm
shifting topics: put wayyyyyyyy too much $$ on Tenn at -7.5. Haven’t watched a second of the game, but I see it’s 7-7 nearing the half. On the road? What a waste of money.
September 1st, 2008 at 9:29 pm
you might be allright. Tenn got ball back. QB pretty much looks like he is lost.
September 1st, 2008 at 9:30 pm
such as?
September 1st, 2008 at 9:32 pm
doubtful. 90210? Maybe.
September 1st, 2008 at 9:38 pm
TBL…I am in the same situation with Tennessee, have a feeling we will be sweating this one out until the end.
September 1st, 2008 at 9:40 pm
questionable decision to go for the FG there.
September 1st, 2008 at 9:43 pm
Pick Six. I had them at 7. Not really worried now.
September 1st, 2008 at 9:47 pm
4 picks in ONE HALF?????
the sad part is, Tenn is only up 7.
September 1st, 2008 at 10:12 pm
I don’t care about what’s-her-tits’ kid being pregnant so much as I just enjoy laughing whenever one of these right-wing Bible Thumpers tries being all holier than thou and then it turns out that under their own roof such things are transpiring (note: this enjoyable irony also applies to John Edwards who I always thought was a frand)
I parlayed Fresno State +4 (should have taken their money line like I first thought) and Tennessee -8 so these SEC bastards need to start stepping it up so my wagering season can get off to a good start
September 1st, 2008 at 10:14 pm
McCain’s selection of Palin was clearly a ploy at trying to sway the pro-Hillary voters. He’s obviously an idiot if he thinks voters who backed Hillary are going to vote for him just because of Palin. She’s an ultra-conservative, pro-life (even in cases of rape and incest) jesus freak. Does he really think Hillary voters are going to choose him over Obama just because he has a woman running mate? What a fucking moron.
September 1st, 2008 at 10:19 pm
Butters – is there a petition we can fuck up somewhere?
McCain is an old. period. I dont see how anyone under 45 votes for him. that is not really an analytical argument, but look at him. It looks like the crypt keeper gained 40 pounds. And yes, seeing the great moral party get preggers is hillarious.
September 1st, 2008 at 10:26 pm
I’m sure Don Majikowski and Dave Coulier have many opinions about Sarah Palin
September 1st, 2008 at 10:33 pm
Deanna Farve and Dick Face want a word with you.
September 1st, 2008 at 10:56 pm
Tennessee is not very good… on offense. Defensively, they look very good, but…
UCLA is offensive on offense. Can ESPN kiss Norm Chow’s ass any more for having 120 total yards and 4 TO’s through 3 quarters? I know a lot of it is personnel, but why talk about how GREAT the OC is when they can’t move the ball?
UT is going to let the Bruins hang around and maybe cause an upset with another blocked punt or Vols turnover. It certainly doesn’t seem like they’ll do it on offense…
September 1st, 2008 at 11:08 pm
Tennessee is the suck…good thing my wager was Week One low so I’m now fully on the UCLA bandwagon for this game
Fuck the SEC
September 1st, 2008 at 11:12 pm
A ton of poor qb play in college football in the opening weekend.
September 1st, 2008 at 11:18 pm
I blame the orange pants for this game
September 1st, 2008 at 11:19 pm
Oh, were we supposed to keep these comment Koby Clemens related? I’m sure his douchebag self would perform poorly in orange pants too
September 1st, 2008 at 11:38 pm
touchdown Pac 10
September 1st, 2008 at 11:58 pm
Pac Ten is now 10-6 vs the SEC in the last 10 years.
September 2nd, 2008 at 12:02 am
Who would have thought UCLA would have the better performance of the two LA teams?
September 2nd, 2008 at 12:04 am
who is the other LA team? I thought it was USC but they were awesome vs. Virginia 52-7
September 2nd, 2008 at 12:06 am
They were. I don’t know what the f fetch is talking about.
September 2nd, 2008 at 12:20 am
I would say beating a top 15 team is better than beating the fuck out of some awful team.
September 2nd, 2008 at 12:43 am
Did you watch the USC game? They beat the fuck out of an awful team yes, but they did so on the road across three time zones. And if anybody thinks that if it was SC on the field instead of UCLA tonight that they wouldn’t have won by 4 touchdowns they’re out of their mind.
September 2nd, 2008 at 12:43 am
a home game win in OT is nice, but USC on the road was much better
September 2nd, 2008 at 1:09 am
Nice homerism from the cassino. Nice. Maybe he’s intern bill. And yes USC played better, but the UCLA win was much better. That’s like saying Oklahoma’s win was better than Missouri’s.
September 2nd, 2008 at 1:38 am
Cassino.. you do realize this is the same Virginia team that Vegas has going 1-11 and I can point you to the Virginia blogs/message boards that say this is the worst team they’ve had in 15 years.. I’m not hating on you guys kicking the ass of a bad team (it’s what the rest of the top 10 did, let’s not act like it’s some great road victory).
September 2nd, 2008 at 2:18 am
I’m not a USC fan any more than I am a UCLA fan, so homerism is not a factor.
I won’t argue that UCLA’s win was better; beating a ranked team always helps. But we’re talking about who had a better performance. As in, who looked better. And USC looked like, well, USC. UCLA’s defense looked good, but in the Pac-10 you have to score points. You can’t ride defense and special teams and turn the ball over and expect to be able to be within striking distance in the fourth quarter consistently. Once or twice, yes, three times, maybe.
I know UVA is bad. Never argued that. The difference between the USC win and the rest of the top 10 is that SC destroyed a D-1, BCS opponent. A bad Virgina team is still better than a good AA team.
September 2nd, 2008 at 9:28 am
glad i didnt watch the tenn loss. for my heart, you know.
