Paid very little attention to the NFL pregame shows, but here’s what we did see (no volume, as we were at the gym): ESPN had a cool feature on Chris Johnson, the Fox guys looked kind of douchy throwing the football around, and Jillian Barberie looked off-the-charts, jaw-droppingly, incredible. Just spent a few minutes poking around the net, but couldn’t find a screengrab. Hiestand paid much closer attention to the shows than we did. (That’s not Barberie, but rather the girlfriend of tennis player Andy Murray, who is in the men’s final tonight against Federer.)

Tape delay never, ever works. Shame on you, CBS tennis people. (NY Post)

Isn’t the way ESPN handled Tom Brady’s knee injury staggering? In the era of report first and ask questions later, the WWL displayed unusual discipline and restraint in reporting on the Golden Boy’s ACL. They didn’t try to take it as their own, write any stories claiming a competitor “is reporting”, nor did ESPN try to poop on Mike Silver’s break of Brady’s season being complete.

ESPN’s only actual news in the 24 hours since Bernard Pollard ended Brady’s season came from former QB Trent Dilfer (he’s got sources!?), but Clayton and Mort were oddly mum throughout. What about their million dollar man, Michael Smith? He couldn’t work sources in Boston?

Emmitt Smith refused to talk to Jeff Pearlman for his book on the Cowboys – he’s “gallingly greedy and self-centered.” (Jeff Pearlman)
