The Roundup: The Wheel Chair Robber that Got Away
College Football, Golf, Media Gossip/Musings, NBA, NFL, Politics September 7th. 2008, 12:15pm
It’s Week 1 in NFL land. Finally. I know it officially started on Thursday, but that didn’t feel “official”. Today feels official. It feels real this time.
This time it counts. This time it’s right. It’s like laying on top of Miss Hazel. It’s warm. Inviting. Happy. Full of redeeming value. Love.
Nice Q&A with Tiger Woods. [ESPN]
The always sad story of Earl Campbell. [My Fox Houston]
ESPN is keeping the celebs out of the booth this year. [Orlando Sentinel]
Brian Billick is a part of the NFL on Fox team. Big Words to follow [USA Today]
Barack Obama calls Joe Pa’s team the “Nitally Lions“. HE’S MORE LIKE BUSH THAN MCCAIN! At least he didn’t talk about breathalyzers and inhalators. Come on, though, Barry, you’re in Pennsylvania. [Youtube]
The Fantasy Suicide Pool [What Would Oakley Do]
He looks like Rick Majerus. [Grand National Championships]
Patrick Ewing still takes grief in New York and by golly, he’s overlooked. [Kallas Remarks]
The Northwestern kids looked good. They did, honest. [City of Champs]
ECU could go undefeated. [Nick on Sports]
Man in wheel chair robs 7-11 of condoms. How in God’s name did he get away? [WRAL]

I was really hoping for a third consecutive college football roundup. Damn.

TBL, here’s your three-team teaser for the week.
DAL (pk)
SD (-3)
IND (-3)
Book it!

The better question we need to ask is why the condoms?

That’s good to hear about Earl Campbell (I have a newspaper printout of him on my wall from his days at UT).
Question for Imig or TBL or anyone? Pregame NFL shows, worth watching? I usually wake up an hour before kickoff on Sundays, and these are on while I eat breakfast, and later sit at the laptop.

@Lance: pregame NFL shows are useless. i was flipping around and they all had different fluff pieces on. ESPN had a Tony Romo/Jessica Simpson piece that was ridiculously stupid.

Um… Sundays are for bowling.

ECU has benefited from playing two vastly overrated teams. IF they go undefeated the team they play in the bowl game will throttle them.

Mike, where are you seeing those lines? Are you teasing the down?
I got:
Titans +3
Falcons +3
Dolphins +3

Strahan wearing pink tie on Fox – seems appropriate.

Goose looks trimmed down and a little too tan.

Fox apparently thinks I want to see the Lions-Falcons game. Fox is wrong.

Actually, I think I would draw the line from Barack to John Kerry. In 2004, when asked who his favorite Red Sox player was (after stating he was lifelong Red Sox fan), his answer was “Manny Ortez”

Brian Billick is announcing the Saints/Bucs game and doing an above average job. Good pickup by Fox.
