Saturday Pigskin Pigsplosion: Turtles > Bears
College Football, NFL retirees September 13th. 2008, 2:00pmIt’s currently (Unranked) Maryland 35, (23) Cal 13. The Golden Bears have looked like a team that should still be in bed and have had trouble getting anything going. They’ve settled for 3 field goal attempts - the last of which bounced off the upright as time ran out in the half. Biggest. Upset. Evar. Brewing?

Just to clarify, this is the Maryland team that lost to Middle Tennesse last week. And as TBL pointed out, Cal won 66-3 last week. At least no one will ever question my research methods.
First possession of the second half and the Terps have already coughed it up. Is it possible that I jinxed them before the post even went up?
Also in action today, the Michigan State Spartans are playing some mud football against Florida Atlantic. People are sliding all over the place. East Lansing is a place of whimsy as the Spartans lead 10-0.

Back to Maryland - would you look at that! - a leaping catch for a touchdown and the Terps are now up 28-6.
With leading rusher, Da’Rel Scott injured, Maryland has turned to Davin Meggett - son of Dave.
Growing up in Upstate New York, I’ve watched a lot of New York Giants football in my life. As a result of this, one of my favorite players of all time is Dave Meggett. Meggett was the first non-quarterback I ever saw throw a touchdown pass. Those were the good old days.

I think this game may have gone from upset, to ass-kicking. Cal just had a horrible offensive series, committing a personal foul and then giving up back-to-back sacks. Anytime you’re punting on 4th and 33… well… you suck. I wonder if Maryland will run up the score?
I think it’s worth mentioning that this is Maryland quarterback Chris Turner. Just take a minute to look at that hair. He looks like he should be in college. Justin Guarini called. He asked to borrow some money.
Would you look at that - Cal just scored a touchdown. Now we’ve got ourselves a 2-possession game with less than half-a-quarter to go. (I’m only watching out of the corner of my eye, excuse the inexactitude of my time keeping.)
Ov-ah. Davin Meggett puts a stamp on this one. I’ve switched over the The Ultimate Fighter Season 1 Marathon on Spike.

When will the shitty Cal Bears be regarded as the shitty Cal Bears instead of the national-champion-darkhorse-contender Cal Bears that people pretend they are every year?
September 13th, 2008 at 3:07 pm
@RiSK - A couple hours ago?
September 13th, 2008 at 3:08 pm

The apocalypse is upon us. I just saw two guys wearing vintage Troy Smith jerseys walking into a bar. Ohio State better win. As a precautionary measure I now have to go to Home Depot for some boards.

Notre Dame vs Michigan…which team wants to lose less?!?!
Michigan flubs a swing pass, fumble, and the Irish take a lead in spite of Jimmy “The Hammer” Valentine.
September 13th, 2008 at 3:55 pm
damn…michigans fuckin up
September 13th, 2008 at 3:57 pm
Yeah. Anytime you give up two touchdowns in the 1st four minutes to this Notre Dame team, you need to re-evaluate.
September 13th, 2008 at 3:58 pm
14-0 Notre Dame in just 4 minutes.
It’ll probably end 14-0.
September 13th, 2008 at 4:00 pm
I think even if I was a notre dame fan I’d hate Clausen, he looks like such a douche. Or a stork
September 13th, 2008 at 4:01 pm
Didnt Claussen play Smiegel in Lord of the Rings?
September 13th, 2008 at 4:02 pm
He’s actually the little known third member of The Hollywood Blondes.
September 13th, 2008 at 4:04 pm
Or was he a backup singer for Nelson?
September 13th, 2008 at 4:07 pm
Wow a Chris Turner post and no mention of his dad the former drummer of RATT?
September 13th, 2008 at 4:10 pm
Nice job with that whole “significant tactical advantage” thing, fat ass.
I love this “rivalry”. I’m happy either way.
September 13th, 2008 at 4:16 pm

September 13th, 2008 at 4:30 pm
Oh yeah Sparty, I have seen many a youtube video featuring Sam McGuffie. I can’t believe he was only ranked like 88th or something like that in the ESPN 150.
September 13th, 2008 at 4:31 pm
BYU is really putting it to the Bruins. Conclusion? Tennessee really, really sucks.
September 13th, 2008 at 4:33 pm

September 13th, 2008 at 6:11 pm
Strange… usually Cal moves into the top 10 before blowing a game they should easily win.
/ says bitter Cal alumni
