Dammit. No Friday Light Nights for us Until Feb.
Television September 24th. 2008, 5:30pm
The show begins Oct. 1, and apparently there is no way to watch DirecTV online. We’re beyond ticked; this hurts much, much worse than the time Dan Marino did the fake-spike TD pass against the Jets in the Meadowlands (and yes, no FNL is more painful than a root canal, which we had back before we discovered sugar-free gum.) Since HD Universal shows reruns, we foolishly thought it would show Season 3. Wrong.
As a result, those of you with DirecTV cannot talk about the show on this blog. Not in the comments, and definitely not in the emails. The only screengrabs we’ll accept are ones of the females, assuming they’re said image is not giving away the plot.

I guess I should check this show out.

A worse tragedy is DirecTV being the only way to get NFL Sunday Ticket.

TBL – Do you want me to post a walkthrough on how to get the torrent for the show so people can watch it on their computers?
September 24th, 2008 at 5:41 pm
Minka Kelly is so hot.
September 24th, 2008 at 5:42 pm

Since it’s a partnership with NBC, do you think they’d put it on Hulu?
September 24th, 2008 at 5:50 pm
Ruckmaker beat me to it. Surf the Channel rocks.
September 24th, 2008 at 5:53 pm
use the internets, TBL. perhaps the show could travel through the series of tubes to your computer.
September 24th, 2008 at 5:54 pm
I have DireTV and looked for it on the Oct 1st guide, but I didn’t see when it will be on.
September 24th, 2008 at 5:59 pm
It actually starts Oct. 3rd at 9:00 PM Eastern on Channel 101.

tragedy? it’s a blessing!
only saps tolerate the cable thieves who decide for you what you should watch.. and then gouge you time and again. cable companies make oil companies look like the united way.
directv allows viewers to decide what they want to watch. an acutal choice by a consumer. imagine!
so your apartment/condo can’t get a signal? whose fault is that? when i rented and later bought my own place, i didn’t lay down a dime until i confirmed i could get a signal.
when i first decided to get directv; tired of being used and gouged by the cable theives, and i couldn’t get directv at my apartment, i moved.
all i’ve got to say about cable companies is that they were so out of control (and to some degree still are) it took an act of congress to attempt to get them into line.

That Marino fake spike was like a dropkick to the gut. My family has tix in that end zone and thinking of being at that game still gives me chills.
If I am not mistaken the Jets came into that game tied for first with a record of 6-5 and after it did not win a single game the rest of the season. Could be wrong but I am pretty sure that’s how it played out. Fuckin Jets.
September 24th, 2008 at 6:12 pm
Jimmy, I totally agree, it’s why I have DirecTV… NEVER once has my dish fallen, moved, etc where i couldnt get a signal, if it is installed right, you will not have problems

@jim ; directv allows viewers to decide what they want to watch. an acutal choice by a consumer. imagine!
I don’t know where you live, but I have it here in Fort Lauderdale. At 2 PM today (and many days/year at this time) I lose my signal, because we have a thing down here they call RAIN. And when it rains, it FUCKING RAINS, when when it FUCKING RAINS, we have NO SIGNAL! It sucks when you lose your signal when you get a good hard rain, although I have been very lucky on Sundays and have never (knock on wood) lost it then.
So, while I actually like DirecTV and I got it specifically to get the Ticket, I don’t completely agree w/ your infomercial about how it’s the greatest thing ever created.

DirecTV is way better than cable. I have not had any reception problems either. Cable went out way more. I wonder if DirecTV would give me my money back I paid for the NFL Ticket since I only really ordered it for the Browns.
September 24th, 2008 at 6:32 pm
Love the sunday ticket, I have 2 TVs, one is on game mix where they show 8 games, the other is on the game that is hot at that time and then I can switch the main tv to whatever action is best minute to minute.
September 24th, 2008 at 6:43 pm
i have direc tv and the rain KOing the signal sucks but it usually doesn’t last more than 5mins—havent had to deal with the snow yet so we will see how it goes, but the price is much better, with more HD programming

Although it is an impossible task, I would try to have one of their installers come out to take a look at the set-up. Also, ask for one of their more experienced installers. I live in a windy place in Utah and watched a ton of football last winter while it was snowing like crazy and did not have one problem.
September 24th, 2008 at 7:02 pm
Hell Yes, Yes, Yes, Twice on Sundays
September 24th, 2008 at 7:18 pm
TBL-I have been posting comments for months about DirecTV getting it, then the rest of the world in the winter. Come on dude.
September 24th, 2008 at 7:25 pm
agreed Benji…that’s the easiest 4 yes answers I’ve ever seen.
September 24th, 2008 at 7:26 pm
I remember in season 1, it was a toss up between Minka Kelly (Lyla) and the girl who plays Tyra for hottest on the show. Now, not only is Lyla by far the hottest, Coach Taylor’s daughter might have passed Tyra for second. I never saw this coming.
September 24th, 2008 at 7:28 pm
Welcome to Last Week… AGAIN. Does TBL have amnesia or something?
September 24th, 2008 at 7:28 pm
Directtv in LA rules
September 24th, 2008 at 7:48 pm
is there something specific to tell them to look for or do they just come out and see if it is hooked up right. i did have a problem about a month ago with espn and espn 2 not coming in on only the HD channels…guy came out did a little work and boom, all good.
September 24th, 2008 at 10:02 pm
@ jpq1999:
i live across the state from you, st. petersburg. we have these little things called thunderstorms daily during the summer. i rarely have a problem. and i do mean rarely.
might want to check the installation. from experience and talk to others, if you are having a lot of disruptions, you likely either have a bad installation or the dish is not protected (i.e. on top of a roof instead of along a wall).

If it’s a decent rain, you lose reception, period. Anyone that says otherwise is smoking crack. The only good thing about the exceptional drought NC had was that I didn’t have to worry about losing reception. Plus I had to pay extra for local channels even though I quoted their national ad back to them. Direct TV is not god’s gift to television. Now I have cable, and while it’s not great, it’s cheaper(bundling is your friend), I never have reception issues, and I can use my computer as a DVR.
September 24th, 2008 at 10:30 pm
jimmy: the dish is on the eastern edge of my roof, pointing south, obviously. like tallguy above says, when it rains real hard (like straight down but heavy, the picture starts to “pixilate” and then I get the “searching for signal” screen until the heavy rain ends.
As I am buying a new Sony big screen, I am upgrading to the HD receiver/dish. I’ll make sure I tell the installer about the problems i’ve had w/ this one and see if it was the original install.
September 25th, 2008 at 8:22 am
I have the HD dish and when it rains heavly I lose the HD picture (has happened 2-3 times) but can switch to the none HD which will come in. Overall pretty good experience with it.

The FNL girls are so motherflippin hot.
