Really liked Doug Gottlieb’s opening tale about Iowa State, Larry Eustachy and Jamaal Tinsley. His list of top point guards in the college basketball? Not as much. But when the topic is subjective, nobody’s wrong! Problem is, the definition of a point guard in college hoops is fluid - Stephen Curry is a two guard who isn’t only playing point to help the team, but surely his NBA stock (sadly, it won’t help). Gottlieb’s Top 10 are tucked behind the Insider wall, but we posted them after the jump. Our list follows his:

1. Darren Collison, UCLA:
2. Patrick Mills, Saint Mary’s:
3. Ty Lawson, North Carolina:
4. Jonny Flynn, Syracuse:
5. Jrue Holiday, UCLA:
6. A.J. Price, UConn:
7. Eric Maynor, VCU:
8. Stephen Curry, Davidson:
9. Curtis Jerrells, Baylor:
10. Greivis Vasquez, Maryland:

Collison, while key to UCLA, got rave reviews last year mostly because he was surrounded by two NBA lottery picks in Kevin Love and Russell Westbrook. Good luck this year, kid. If we’re drafting point guards to run a college team, here’s our order (we left Curry out simply because he has never actually played PG in college):

1. Ty Lawson, UNC - Better than Collison from the field, and a much better passer. The consummate college PG in our opinion.
2. Eric Maynor, VCU - Criminally underrated, and everyone knows he’s the only serious threat on his team.
3. Patrick Mills, St. Mary’s -Looked awesome at the Olympics.
4. AJ Price, Connecticut - Love this kid’s game, and if he’s healthy, he’ll be the reason UConn wins it all.
5. Greivis Vasquez, Maryland - We think he might be the best NBA prospect on this list after Maynor.
6. Darren Collison, UCLA - He can prove us wrong by having a banner year without Love and Westbrook.
7. Jonny Flynn, Syracuse - A bit surprised to hear he’s the best point guard in the country, but perhaps we just haven’t seen enough. Shoots a bit much for our liking.
8. Curtis Jerrells, Baylor - Would have been nice to have seen him dominate the Texas guards last year - except that he didn’t.
9. Tyrese Rice, Boston College - A third score-first lefty in this batch?
10. Manny Harris, Michigan - A bit undervalued since he plays on a garbage team, but having him on my Fantasy hoops team forced me to watch him a lot.
