How Could Anyone Want Lasorda Out of a Parade?
Baseball September 30th. 2008, 10:45am
He’s just so mouthy and clumsy!
Supervisor Michela Alioto-Pier wants organizers of the San Francisco Italian American parade to boot Tommy Lasorda as grand marshal … He’s the former manager of the Los Angeles Dodgers, who’ve had “an intense rivalry” with our hometown Giants for years and “nobody embodies that more than Tommy Lasorda,” states the resolution … The Giants aren’t doing so great, it continues, and “Dodger fans are boastful and smug.”
A Joe Torre-led team being called boastful and smug? Sacre bleu! Later in the article, the writer mentions Barry Zito as a possible replacement. Problem with that is Zito might ask what other A-listers are showing up. Can’t wait until TJ Simers chimes in and hammers another inferior city in the Golden State.

True story, I was at Dodgertown watching Spring Training games with my dad, walking around the complex, enjoying it, and Lasorda is going from the field to the batting cages in a golf cart, starts cursing and yelling at a car in his way, looks at me, and yells, “Fucking cars! Always in the fucking way!” I didn’t even know what to do, my dad and I just looked at each other in confusion.
Sidenote, of the some 80+ ballparks I’ve been to, Dodgertown was in the Top 3. Awesome experience.

Much better post!
This reminds me of when Norm Stewart retired and KU invited him into Allen Field House to give him a retirement gift. Middle of the court. Unbelievable. This guy hated Kansas and always talked down to KU and KU turns around and gave him a rocking chair. When he came out, all the fans were looking at each other thinking, “what the fuck?” Even Norm seemed quite confused by it all, but he always looked confused.

AS long as Zito isn’t pitching, people want him to show up.
