College Football Top 10
College Football October 2nd. 2008, 6:50pm
Hellish weekend in the Top 10. We’re putting teams in order of a) What they’ve accomplished, b) how good we think they are, and c) potential to actually win the National title. Again, full apologies to Texas for placing three 1-loss teams in above them, but if the Longhorns can beat Colorado, they’ll be in here next week.
1. Alabama 4-0. Drilled Georgia, 41-30. Beat two top 10 teams away from home and thus the Tide rise over Oklahoma.
2. Oklahoma 4-0. Easily dispatched TCU, 35-10.
3. BYU 4-0. Mock us if you will, but two Pac-10 wins trump the one quality win LSU and Missouri each have.
4. Missouri 4-0. Bye. Decent test in Nebraska this week.
5. LSU 4-0. Beat Mississippi St, 34-24. Didn’t cover the nearly 4-TD spread, but a letdown was expected.
6. South Florida 4-0. Pounded NC State, 41-10.
7. Penn State 5-0. Topped Illinois 38-24. Beware the letdown in a sandwich game at Purdue this weekend.
8. Georgia 4-1. Lost to Alabama 41-30.
9. Florida 3-1. Lost to Ole Miss, 31-30.
10. USC 2-1. Lost to Oregon State, 27-21.

Agreed – if you want to put BYU in the top 7 later this month, so be it. But not now, after beating two bottom feeders in the Pac 10 (UCLA and UW).

So I guess Penn State should get credit for beating Syracuse and Temple like BYU is getting for beating Washington and UCLA.
It’s ridiculous that the non BCS schools get credit for those as “big” wins but the BCS schools get no credit for that.
Can’t have it both ways.
LSU beating Auburn and Mississippi State is WAY better than beating UCLA and Washington (A game that should have gone to OT)

I know you hate OSU, but come on. They didnt lose to an unranked team at home or an unranked team on the road. They got spackled by the #3 team on the road, yet the fell completly out.

mmonast-i don’t expect us to win that game. I am just happy that we play OSU the week before the Michigan game. It keeps us from looking past an opponent. If we were playing MN at home that week, I would be really worried.
Unless we get a passing game going, OSU will stuff the Ringer.

still, osu defense has been shaky and i just wanna see ringer vs wells…and as a bonus my msu friend hates osu with so much anger…love seeing him get fired up over osu/msu
michigan is so terrible this yr, we both should both bounce em pretty easily. the fact wisconsin gagged against them makes me considerably less concerned about them this weekend
