PM Roundup: Getting Ready For The Debate
Baseball, College Football, Hockey, NFL, Politics, Video Games October 7th. 2008, 3:45pm
This is Rachel Stevens from S Club 7. I remember seeing S Club 7 videos on MuchMusic back in high school. I don’t remember the music – seriously, I’d tell you if I did – but I recognize this video. Man MuchMusic was awesome. That was a great channel.
Oh, don’t forget the debate tonight. It’s supposed to be super fun and both candidates will totally answer all the questions they’re asked.
A commentary on contemporary mores using early-20th-century Germany as a metaphor for the modern-day New York Mets. (Major League Jerk)
Fitting apparal for Bengals’ fans. (First Cuts)
Open tryouts for QB at Washington State. (The Big Picture)
Eli Manning’s house is a lazy man’s dream. (Electronic House via Deadspin)
Sarah Palin may do a prime time SNL cameo. (The TV Zone)
The history of the word “maverick.” (NY Times)
High Schools using corporal punishment? (Sparty and Friends)
“A panel of judges conducted a series of ancient ceremonies to select the goddess from several 2- to 4-year-old girls who are all members of the impoverished Shakya goldsmith caste.” Just like America’s Got Talent. (Yahoo!)
An interview with gamer, Tony Parker. (ESPN)
Name one of the biggest hockey lines ever. (nj.com)
Papelbon sprays down Craig Sager and his stupid jacket. (Red Sox Monster)
This came in an office forward today and it gave me a chuckle. It’s the simple things.

I want that poster.
October 7th, 2008 at 3:49 pm
McCain is going to lose by a landslide in a month so he might as well just ask Obama about his terrorist friends.
October 7th, 2008 at 3:52 pm
She looks like Rachel Ray. Spence approves.
October 7th, 2008 at 3:53 pm
Good God Rachel Ray is annoying.
October 7th, 2008 at 3:54 pm
Correct.
That chick is hot.
October 7th, 2008 at 3:54 pm
good edit, CRM. that was bothering me too.
October 7th, 2008 at 3:55 pm
Can’t wait to see the Rays crush the Sox.
October 7th, 2008 at 3:55 pm
Hot damn that pic is hilarious, and oh so true:
“As Putin rears his head and comes into the airspace of the United States of America, where do they go? It’s Alaska…”
October 7th, 2008 at 3:56 pm
Amen to that.
October 7th, 2008 at 3:56 pm
McCain is going to lose by a landslide in a month so he might as well just ask Obama about his terrorist friends.
Ignorance is bliss.
October 7th, 2008 at 3:58 pm
You think he’s going to win? A little surprised by that Tampa Bo, I gotta say.
October 7th, 2008 at 3:58 pm
I give Sarah Palin credit. If I looked out at the ocean and saw land, I think it’d be tough to get my Bering’s Strait.
/puns
Also, I thought the word “Maverick” stemmed from this
And yes, that’s me pimping my own blog. But I don’t care.
October 7th, 2008 at 3:59 pm
@Mike – don’t be fooled by Bo’s reverse psychology methods.
October 7th, 2008 at 4:00 pm
I took Tampa’s comment to mean McCain is being blissfully ingorant about his election prospects.
October 7th, 2008 at 4:00 pm
damn. eli has a sweet pad
October 7th, 2008 at 4:00 pm
S Club 7? Weren’t they like the British Mickey Mouse Club or something?
October 7th, 2008 at 4:02 pm
Can’t wait to see the Rays crush the Sox
hellz yeah
October 7th, 2008 at 4:03 pm
Rays are +120 for the series. Sounds like an interesting bet …
October 7th, 2008 at 4:03 pm
Eli has “the view” from the Jersey side. nice.
October 7th, 2008 at 4:03 pm
Mike-Cant call it since the Al Gore conspiracy. But saying that Obama has terrorist friends is fucked up since I heard Palin supported a committee for contracting Alaska from the United States.
October 7th, 2008 at 4:04 pm
Wow, Eli’s house is badass.
October 7th, 2008 at 4:04 pm
We had the Much Music in college. Roommate had a dish. It was cool enough. At that time, MTV was still playing music videos and had just started dabbling in non-music content that led it down the road to being the absolute worst channel on tv. Yes, even worse that LMC.
October 7th, 2008 at 4:04 pm
irish, i hope your ready for that rays bandwagon to fill up quick.
October 7th, 2008 at 4:04 pm
As a White Sox fan watching that series, I couldn’t help but be reminded of the 2005 White Sox when watching these Rays. Great starting pitching, an unhittable bullpen, and an offense that gets you by and occasionally carries you if you need it.
October 7th, 2008 at 4:04 pm
@mike NYC- do you want to bet on the series? I take the Rays and you can take Boston. how bout one week this time?
October 7th, 2008 at 4:05 pm
@Tampa – seceeding from the union is the new fad. see Alaska, Vermont, and Sout Cackalacki.
October 7th, 2008 at 4:05 pm
Ha – no, Irish: if I’m going to bet, it would be on the Rays.
/knows little about baseball …
October 7th, 2008 at 4:05 pm
Shotgun!!
October 7th, 2008 at 4:06 pm
Can CRM handle all the roundup pics from now until forever?
October 7th, 2008 at 4:06 pm
irish, i hope your ready for that rays bandwagon to fill up quick
shit. I have noticed so many commenters are on here saying GO Rays. I think it is more for the hatred of Boston though. I can honestly say i was a Yankees fan before the Rays started doing well this year. I just wanted to contribute to Yardwork and piss Imig off by saying GO Rays all the time. Now they are my favorite team so i guess you can call me a fair weather fan
October 7th, 2008 at 4:07 pm
Did muchmusic change into Fuse?
October 7th, 2008 at 4:07 pm
McCain figures his only chance is essentially self-destruction. Lose credibility by going into attack mode while (ideally for Republicans) costing Obama credibility by bringing up Ayers et al. It’s not going to work.
October 7th, 2008 at 4:07 pm
@mike NYC- that is an interesting bet though, Rays +120. TBL might bite
October 7th, 2008 at 4:07 pm
I put money on the Sox to win the WS at the start of the playoffs, so I guess I have to go for them, but the baseball fan in me would be happier if the Rays won.
October 7th, 2008 at 4:07 pm
Since I live in Tampa I might as well say GO RAYS! Im going to get my Mohawk right now!
October 7th, 2008 at 4:08 pm
Shotgun not bitch!
October 7th, 2008 at 4:08 pm
dude, you weren’t even in site of the wagon. no good.
October 7th, 2008 at 4:09 pm
Since I live in Tampa I might as well say GO RAYS! Im going to get my Mohawk right now
says the guy who was saying SUCK IT to Tampa Rays fans last week
October 7th, 2008 at 4:09 pm
CRM – I like this “experience” poster as well.
Does anyone else get Palladia on their Cable system?
October 7th, 2008 at 4:09 pm
Lets Go Rays!
October 7th, 2008 at 4:10 pm
Arkbadger – you around? You still going to the game this week? It’s going to be the Special Olympics of offense only without all of the feel-good and sympathy.
October 7th, 2008 at 4:10 pm
TB LAD world series
October 7th, 2008 at 4:11 pm
sparty, i was outside. don’t need to see the car.
October 7th, 2008 at 4:12 pm
@Roeth – I do. It’s on the channel MTVHD used to be on. I think I saw a Hootie and the Blowfish concert on there last week.
October 7th, 2008 at 4:12 pm
@Irish-People gave me the craziest look at the Bar Sunday when I was cheering for the Sox. One guy tried to talk shit then I checked his bitch ass. But shit man Rays fans are fucking loyal and have never won shit so let them have it. The Only reason I was rooting against them is because they were playing my team.
October 7th, 2008 at 4:12 pm
Yes MuchMusic became Fuse. And Fuse gave us one of the best shows no one ever saw: Kung Faux!
October 7th, 2008 at 4:12 pm
Roeth: i just got Palladia HD a couple weeks back. pretty sweet channel.
October 7th, 2008 at 4:13 pm
TB LAD world series
Philly v Tampa WS…to make Bud Selig swallow his own tongue!
October 7th, 2008 at 4:13 pm
What exactly does this mean? Bet $100 to win $120 if the Rays win the Series?
October 7th, 2008 at 4:14 pm
Benji- Touche.
October 7th, 2008 at 4:15 pm
Yeah – Sometimes I’ll put it through the surround sound system while playing Wii. It’s not too bad.
October 7th, 2008 at 4:15 pm
FUSE also gave us Mistress Juliya
October 7th, 2008 at 4:16 pm
so, when does the yankees series start?
October 7th, 2008 at 4:16 pm
Ritty. Heading out on Thursday, playing in a golf tournament down there on Friday. I’m pumped, more to check out the unioversity, stadium, tailgating, etc. than the game. I find it pretty funny that Auburn is favored by 19, yet they average 18.5 on the year. I hate betting on my own teams, but I am considering taking the Hogs in this game.
October 7th, 2008 at 4:17 pm
PSA: NSFW Warning – do not google image the name “Juliya” at work!!!
October 7th, 2008 at 4:18 pm
Yep.
October 7th, 2008 at 4:18 pm
Miz-I just did. What did I miss?
October 7th, 2008 at 4:18 pm
this is funny.
October 7th, 2008 at 4:18 pm
thanks Mike NYC. that’s what i thought.
October 7th, 2008 at 4:18 pm
I’ll bring a couple links for Juliya tomorrow. They’ll be SFW. No, let me. I insist.
October 7th, 2008 at 4:19 pm
i hope he goes there tonight so he can lock in his double digit loss
October 7th, 2008 at 4:19 pm
That Palladia channel is the tits. All kinds of sweet live shows on there all the time.
October 7th, 2008 at 4:19 pm
translates to: Hurry up and google image the name “Juliya”
October 7th, 2008 at 4:22 pm
That isn’t Rachel Stevens btw.
October 7th, 2008 at 4:23 pm
Clown-That is funny.
October 7th, 2008 at 4:26 pm
@Tampa – my safe search mode was off so I guess I got a little more than I was searching for.
October 7th, 2008 at 4:28 pm
Ark – you playing Grand National?
Have a good time. I hope the AU-sky is falling-bed wetting-Tuberville bashing-rednecks don’t ruin the atmosphere down there.
October 7th, 2008 at 4:30 pm
I do believe the MojoHD channel routinely whips all these other music channels.
October 7th, 2008 at 4:35 pm
That Juliya chick is so, so hot but she’s also the worst fucking interviewer that has drawn a breath in the history of free press.
October 7th, 2008 at 4:36 pm
i like that three sheets show on mojo
October 7th, 2008 at 4:54 pm
Ritty. Playing the Auburn Links. Don’t know anything about it. The tournament i’m playing in is called the Open Container Open, so I am assuming that golf is more secondary. And trust me, being here in Fayetteville the past couple years I know all about the sky is falling business.
October 7th, 2008 at 4:58 pm
For the record, S Club 7 made some great Disney-type music in their day, CRM. I like your style.
October 7th, 2008 at 5:09 pm
Rachel Stevens… S club 7… talking dirty: http://www.icr.ac.uk/everyman/rachelgetsfruity/flash.html
October 7th, 2008 at 5:55 pm
For the sake of fairness, here is Barry Obama’s foreign experience map:

Somehow I knew that Maverick came from unbranded cattle (I’m from Texas and spent a big part of my childhood on a ranch, which I suppose has something to do with it), but I didn’t know it was the last name of the rancher who didn’t brand his cattle. Good story.
October 8th, 2008 at 8:14 am
How is this for the sake of fairness? Did Obama ever claim to be able to see Canada from where he lived, in answer to questions of foreign policy experience? Come on now.
October 8th, 2008 at 9:17 am
- MuchMusic is still MuchMusic here in Canada (where it originated).
- Always had a thing for Rachel.
- The first half of that video is excellent.
