Saturday Roundup: Start The Countdown
Baseball, MMA, Music, Politics, WWE October 11th. 2008, 11:00am
Tiffani Thiessen joins us today because of a special request. I’ve put on of my favorite pictures from the entire internet after the jump. Why don’t more high schoolers have cardboard cutouts of their school’s cheerleading captain? Or these days, a Fat Head?
If anything super neat happens today and you think I’m going to miss it, send me a tip. You do this by signing into your e-mail accounting, selecting “Compose” and plugging alumnigonzo@gmail.com into the “To:” field. If you need any more help figuring out how to use your e-mail, e-mail me and I’ll answer any questions you might have. We’ll get through this together.
Chinese Democracy now has an official release date of November 23rd. (EW)
The language is quite NSFW, but it’s the weekend so I don’t think I really need to warn you. You want girls to come over? Stock the fridge. (College Humor)
The Pacers continue to clean house by trading Shawne Williams. They get Eddie Jones and two second picks in exchange. I hope I didn’t ruin the link. (IndyStar)
Rays fans are still getting used to the TV thing. (Red Sox Monster)
So, the Palin Report… Nothing like pushing around helpless polar bears. (WELT ONLINE)
Bill Walker can dunk and I think the young man is kind of high on himself. (FanHouse)
ESPN now covers Professional Wrestling. No, I’m not referring to Kimbo Slice. (ESPN)
Fedor Emelianenko vs. Andrei Arlovski in January. (MMARated)
Wow. As a guy who spends roughly 1000 hours a week in front of a computer, I feel confident saying whoever made the “Barak Roll” needs to step outside for a minute. (YouTube)
Guinness World Record: 57 movies back - to - back - to - back - to - back - to - back - to - you get the picture. (Yahoo!)

I wish Ms. Theissan could join us more. Huge fan.
Oh, and here’s a random bet: Portland to win the NBA title - 35:1.
You know what that means … $10 wins 350, 100 wins 3500.
Teams rarely come out of nowhere to win the NBA title, so maybe this is a sucker bet.

I hear there’s a game in Vegas with similar odds that runs every 4 minutes or so at multiple tables.

I prefer Kelly Kapowski

As soon as I financially recover from a drunken night in Philly last weekend, I’m puttin’ some money on the Blazers
October 11th, 2008 at 11:19 am
Fuck Rays fans I liked them then last night happened. Refering to the Asian second fielder as a “Chink” can get your ass kicked. My brother n law almost fucked some guy up over that shit I guess because BJ Upton was on deck and he didnt want any surprises.

*second basemen

Yeah, I’m pretty sure saying just about any racial slurs about anybody that isn’t white (cuz ours are hilarious, and we have it coming, thus not offensive) leaves a really good chance at getting your ass kicked.

because there is no discussion (im not counting krod because i think closers winning the cy young is ludicrous). but lee has a better ERA and four more wins. however he also has the same amount of loses and a lot fewer walks with sixty more innings pitched.
October 11th, 2008 at 11:28 am
Cuz Dice-K walks 18 batters per start…OK, that’s a bit high, 14.
Jean-Francois from LSU, he of the “we’re gonna try to take Tebow out” comment, isn’t even going to play because of an injured groin. Whatta tool.
October 11th, 2008 at 11:28 am
also everyones favorite stat, whip
lee: 1.11
dicek: 1.37
lee also has i think four complete games to dicek’s zero.
shit id put halliday over dicek in the race even though he has 11 loses
October 11th, 2008 at 11:31 am
his 1.64 strikeouts for every walk is 177th worse amongst pitchers in the AL
hallady is 6th and lee is 9th

Good God I don’t want to be at work right now. I hate working Saturdays. I should be sleeping off my hangover, not dealing with people.
October 11th, 2008 at 11:33 am
Halladay would be a superduper-star if he played anywhere relevant.
October 11th, 2008 at 11:34 am
also i love the balls out brazenness of the republicans to claim the palin report is partisan. 10 republicans against 4 democrats working on a report just screams democrat hatchet job to me!
October 11th, 2008 at 11:35 am
I’d rather lose all my money on college football than on a basketball team from Oregon. How about Elton Brand to get out of the East at 10-1 odds? It could happen…but probably won’t.

as much as i dislike the redsox, i really want the rays to lose. i dont know why, but they just annoy the piss out of me. maybe its the whole carolina hurricanes thing of ‘you dont deserve a fucking team let alone a good one’
October 11th, 2008 at 11:40 am
Yikes. That’s not wise.
October 11th, 2008 at 11:44 am
They were tailgating yesterday for the season opener…god bless hockey rednecks.
Amen
October 11th, 2008 at 11:52 am
im sure they were. but theyve averaged 1000 and 2000 under a sellout the two years after winning it all, thats grounds for losing your team in my opinion. granted every franchise in the state is backed solely by fair weather fans anyways so im not shocked.
thank god for the big ten network, if this were two years ago id be subject to either the michigan or indiana game on abc instead of a real game.
October 11th, 2008 at 11:59 am
is the lsu-florida game on national tv tonight? does cbs do night games?
October 11th, 2008 at 12:01 pm
yes and yes
October 11th, 2008 at 12:03 pm
wow, ghost of ed muskie, great blog title.
im telling you, the parallels between this campaign and 72 are striking.
muskie = clinton
mcgovern = obama
eagleton = palin
shriver = lieberman
October 11th, 2008 at 12:43 pm
Nice picture by you sir.
October 11th, 2008 at 2:28 pm
Right down to both Muskie and Clinton both crying in NH. Hopefully Obama is a tad more successful than McGovern
October 11th, 2008 at 2:49 pm
haha yeah, hopefully. i think thompson would have enjoyed this campaign.
