Red River Second Half: 45-35, Texas
College Football October 11th. 2008, 1:47pm
Aside from Kansas, no other Top-25 team is in action until a decent hour. Those poor kids in Texas must have had to get up at like 8am to start drinking for the game. That’s just isn’t right.
The first quarter was a bit slow with Oklahoma taking a quick 7-0 lead. (Slow and quick? Who wrote that?) Texas drove right down and settled for a field goal on the ensuing possession. When the ‘Horns settled, I started to think the Sooners were going to commence the ass-kicking. Luckily, I know nothing about college football.
The second quarter lived up to the “shootout” billing as Texas outscored Oklahoma 17-14 to pull within 1 at the half.
Sam Bradford is 15-18 for 214 yards and 3 touchdowns in the first half. Texas’ Colt McCoy hasn’t been too shabby himself, going 15-19 for 171. Also getting involved for Texas was Jordan Shipley, who brought back a kickoff 96-yards for a score.
Oh, and if you’re in the Pittsburgh area and were looking forward to this game, you’re crazy! Why would you want to see two top-5 teams when you’ve got Rutgers-Cincinnati? Lucky bastards. (Rutgers leads 10-0 in the 3rd.)
In the other top-25 game, Kansas leads Colorado 9-7 in the second quarter in Lawrence.
Watch out for updates all afternoon! I’m going to use these one-liners like they’re going out of style!

just saw your other comment hakeem. That link just came in like 15 minutes ago. That kinda sucks
October 11th, 2008 at 1:59 pm
Correction: Cincinnati is beating Rutgers 10 – 7.
October 11th, 2008 at 2:01 pm
A bunch of buddies and I went to Penn St. to drink and party and go to a football game and drink. We were in bed at 6am, back up at 7:15am, and really never sobered up. Then did it again afterwards. That was an awesome blur of 36 hours or so. Thus, Texas kids can fuck themselves.
October 11th, 2008 at 2:02 pm
it’s late. im here. what’d i miss? it is a ridiculously gorgeous day here on the east coast. so nice. all the windows are open and the tv is loud.
had been listening on the radio to parts of it … what im most interested in is whether or not Musberger is on the Sooners or Longhorns.
i took OU -7.
October 11th, 2008 at 2:02 pm
@The Hazean – I must have saw the update before an extra point. I thought 3 field goals in a quarter was weird
October 11th, 2008 at 2:02 pm
Its like this every year, I guess they have some contractual obligation with the Big East
October 11th, 2008 at 2:05 pm
wow, that kid on OU is fast. bradford is definitely not a jason white clone.
October 11th, 2008 at 2:06 pm
At least all of you get to watch football. I’m at the shittiest one of our stores, covering for a guy running the Chicago Marathon. Asshole. Not even any AM Radio, much less TV.
October 11th, 2008 at 2:06 pm

October 11th, 2008 at 2:10 pm
Anyone else take Texas Tech -20.5 against Nebraska?

October 11th, 2008 at 2:21 pm
this shipley kid is killing oklahoma. who is he, the next wes welker? WTF?
Why because hes white. Wes Welker can suck this guys balls hes better than welker.
October 11th, 2008 at 2:23 pm
No way, Welker was a god at Texas Tech. Shipley has a ways to go before he’s better than him
October 11th, 2008 at 2:24 pm
Shipley has more upside hes a bigger target and fuck Texas Tech why couldnt welker go to Texas?
October 11th, 2008 at 2:25 pm
just not feeling confident about OU -7.
i’m a bit surprised the OU d is getting pushed around like this …
October 11th, 2008 at 2:26 pm
thank RS27, he showed me it two days ago.
October 11th, 2008 at 2:27 pm
Nobody recruited him, he barely got a scholarship to Tech
October 11th, 2008 at 2:28 pm
why would you do that? in the middle of the field??
i dont think he got it
October 11th, 2008 at 2:29 pm
fuck. UT just rolled them a few mins ago, and now you give them a short field?
October 11th, 2008 at 2:29 pm
Nobody recruited him, he barely got a scholarship to Tech
Exactly. He sucks.
October 11th, 2008 at 2:30 pm
Oh okay, it all makes sense now Tampa
October 11th, 2008 at 2:31 pm
gotta give colt mccoy some props … kid is fast.
October 11th, 2008 at 2:31 pm
That was a horrible late hit call.
Football officiating has gotten insanely bad the last few years.
October 11th, 2008 at 2:33 pm
Colt McCoy is a little bitch, that’s 2 late hit calls that were bullshit.
nice pick fag.
October 11th, 2008 at 2:33 pm
Toledo just banked in a 48 yard field goal. hahahaha
October 11th, 2008 at 2:33 pm
a pick and he dropped it????? PLEASE TELL ME HE HELD ON
October 11th, 2008 at 2:33 pm
Wow, what a terrible throw by McCoy.
Seems like I get back from golfing right as the level of play turns crappy.
October 11th, 2008 at 2:34 pm
Minnesota pulling a mild upset of Illinois
October 11th, 2008 at 2:34 pm
stoops, why didnt you throw the flag?
THAT WAS TOTALLY A PICK
October 11th, 2008 at 2:34 pm
how do you drop that?
October 11th, 2008 at 2:35 pm
Nah, that was a drop. The ground can cause an incompletion. Have to keep control through the fall/roll.
Sucks for Oklahoma, but the refs did get it right.
October 11th, 2008 at 2:36 pm
McCoy was just trying to make a play. Mustberger was talking shit about the ground causing the fumble. It wasnt a fumble though.
October 11th, 2008 at 2:37 pm
Where’s iggy? Your football team sucks.
Two Cuban soccer players defected.
October 11th, 2008 at 2:38 pm
geez, looks like Illinois is done, huh? 21-6 against Minnesota?
another big 10 fraud.
im resigned that the OU -7 bet is cooked. they dont attempt FGs. it will be back and forth and someone will win by 5 or 2.
October 11th, 2008 at 2:39 pm
Illinois wasn’t shit to begin with.
October 11th, 2008 at 2:41 pm
Illini just scored
October 11th, 2008 at 2:43 pm
So Welker is a dumbass?
And rs27, if you ever read this, thank you. You kept me from punching the next dumbass customer who asks a stupid question in the face.
October 11th, 2008 at 2:44 pm
Cody Hawkins sucks. The only reason he’s the QB must be cause his dad is the coach.
October 11th, 2008 at 2:45 pm
running into the kicker! great acting job
he barely got touched
October 11th, 2008 at 2:46 pm
i love Herbie and Musberger because they call it like it is. every time i look up, Herbie is talking shit.
October 11th, 2008 at 2:46 pm
Mushburger is definitely on OU
October 11th, 2008 at 2:46 pm
i guess brent maybe is on Oklahoma. he made a huge deal about the end zone int, but he doesnt say anything about the acting job by the punter
October 11th, 2008 at 2:47 pm
lol
great minds, ssimac
October 11th, 2008 at 2:47 pm
That was soccer-esque. And that’s not bashing soccer, fantastic sport, but the acting is fucking absurd.
October 11th, 2008 at 2:50 pm
attn: ohio state
this is how you live up to the hype of a big game you dodgy cunts
October 11th, 2008 at 2:50 pm
great pass by bradford
the guy has 5 TD passes and Oklahoma is barely winning. that’s not good
October 11th, 2008 at 2:51 pm
Damn. Bradford’s legit.
October 11th, 2008 at 2:51 pm
Stoops has balls the size of K2’s
October 11th, 2008 at 2:52 pm
Awesome.
October 11th, 2008 at 2:53 pm
LOL
LOL
the big 10 is a joke. if penn state loses to wisky, that entire conf is one giant mediocre joke
October 11th, 2008 at 2:55 pm
reading up on some financial stuff and just came across this:
October 11th, 2008 at 2:55 pm
the big 10 is a joke. if penn state loses to wisky, that entire conf is one giant mediocre joke
worse than the pac-10?
October 11th, 2008 at 2:55 pm
So KU at Oklahoma next week should be a lot of fun.
October 11th, 2008 at 2:56 pm
Oprah is terrible. She unleashed “Dr.” Phil upon society. Bitch.
October 11th, 2008 at 2:57 pm
OU needs a stop here like the Dodgers need a win tomorrow
desperate
October 11th, 2008 at 2:58 pm
Colt McCoy is a Junior right? He’s pretty good. If I’m the Vikings I strongly think about either McCoy or Sam Bradford.
October 11th, 2008 at 2:58 pm
What if Florida loses tonight?
October 11th, 2008 at 2:59 pm
So does McCoy come back next year? I wonder. I bet no.
October 11th, 2008 at 2:59 pm
Don’t forget Rachael Ray.
October 11th, 2008 at 2:59 pm
Interception Toledo!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
October 11th, 2008 at 2:59 pm
I think Bradford is a redshirt-sophomore.
October 11th, 2008 at 3:00 pm
Good call, Romo.
October 11th, 2008 at 3:00 pm
I think Bradford will stay all four years, but I think he’s just a plain Sophomore anyways.
October 11th, 2008 at 3:01 pm
Oklahoma’s D is gonna have a rough week of practice ahead of them at this rate. Suuuuuuuuuucks.
October 11th, 2008 at 3:01 pm
honestly, you might as well post the UT 7 right now. oklahoma cannot stop it. Texas is rolling over them like WVU did in the bowl game.
October 11th, 2008 at 3:02 pm
n0 shot at national title
October 11th, 2008 at 3:03 pm
Suck it Welker!
October 11th, 2008 at 3:03 pm
3rd and 8 and they didn’t have 2 guys on Shipley? who else has mccoy thrown to on 3rd?
dumb, dumb oklahoma defense
37-35
October 11th, 2008 at 3:04 pm
Who the fuck was covering him?!?
October 11th, 2008 at 3:04 pm
this Shipley character seems pretty quick
October 11th, 2008 at 3:04 pm
Cosby just gave him a pudding pop.
October 11th, 2008 at 3:04 pm
i’d like to see Shipley race a 1985 version of Darrell Green
October 11th, 2008 at 3:05 pm
I doubt Tenn can beat Georgia, but should Georgia and Florida lose, wouldnt the SEC become a mediocre conference under your reasoning?
October 11th, 2008 at 3:06 pm
What was the over under for this game?
October 11th, 2008 at 3:06 pm
Not a lot of excitement in the Texas touchdown call by Mushburger….
October 11th, 2008 at 3:06 pm
Fuck you Oklahoma. Make Texas lose, please. They should lose at EVERYTHING.
On another note, where’s Erin Andrews? Haven’t seen her in ages.
October 11th, 2008 at 3:07 pm
neither of these teams play shit for defense … i wonder if Alabama is better than both of them?
georgia and UF don’t do D, and LSU does, but lacks the offense to hang with them
38-35 on the two-point conversion
October 11th, 2008 at 3:07 pm
OU is fucking stupid he could have blasted that bitch while the ball is in the air.
October 11th, 2008 at 3:08 pm
no brent, we’re not coming back. it’s 38-35 with 7 mins left in the fourth quarter between two of the top 5 ranked teams in the country.
yup. going to just go for a walk and enjoy a nice october day.
October 11th, 2008 at 3:08 pm
IS LSU still in the SEC?
October 11th, 2008 at 3:09 pm
It’s nice here in the Northeast, but a ‘lil warm. 60-65 would be the perfect temperature for today.
October 11th, 2008 at 3:10 pm
Musberger with a Palin joke?
October 11th, 2008 at 3:11 pm
“we could have two or three more touchdowns before this one is over.”
Wishful thinking, gambler
October 11th, 2008 at 3:11 pm
@Canada: Well aware that they suck. This loss ruins their perfect record and their shot at not making the tournament.
October 11th, 2008 at 3:11 pm
is Michigan going to lose to Toledo??i say it said 1 min left? what channel?
October 11th, 2008 at 3:12 pm
Goddamn I wish I could watch that game, probably the best red river shootout ever
October 11th, 2008 at 3:13 pm
3rd and two and you pass? ugh.
go or punt here? 639 left … if you go and fail, you’re fucked, because Texas will score. but if you give it to UT, you may not get the ball back.
i actually think you go here.

October 11th, 2008 at 3:14 pm

45 yards to go, only 22 seconds left. no timeouts.
October 11th, 2008 at 3:15 pm
Wow, Tampa. Imagine me after Maryland lost to UVA 31-0.

October 11th, 2008 at 3:20 pm
Shipley needs to be in at RB.
October 11th, 2008 at 3:20 pm
KU over Oklahoma next week, you heard it here first.
October 11th, 2008 at 3:20 pm
I know. UVA is awful. Maryland is a mystery wrapped in an enigma. They make no sense. It’s incredbly infuriating.
October 11th, 2008 at 3:20 pm
Td run by texas
wow, 45-35 with 402 left.
oklahoma has its work cut out
October 11th, 2008 at 3:21 pm
KU over Oklahoma next week, you heard it here first.
Fetch-your enjoying some of that Vancouver crack I see.
October 11th, 2008 at 3:22 pm
that was an awesome 8 mins of football:
- Illinois hail mail chance misfires
- Michigan misses a chip shot FG that would have tied it
- Texas RB breaks a huge run and then they score for 45-35 lead.
October 11th, 2008 at 3:23 pm
Rod Gilmore said during the Minn-Ill game that if Texas beats OU they shouldn’t be ranked #1 and that Alabama should be, crazy crazy talk
October 11th, 2008 at 3:23 pm
The guy on this website broadcasting the game must be an OU fan. It’s not coming through clear anymore.
October 11th, 2008 at 3:24 pm
Texas has another HUGE game next week against Missouri. If they win today, i hope there isn’t a let down for next week.
October 11th, 2008 at 3:25 pm
That’s outrageous. OU to Mizz consecutive weekends? Good God.
October 11th, 2008 at 3:25 pm
Now we can see if Bradford is up to snuff
October 11th, 2008 at 3:26 pm
