Joe Blanton’s dealing tonight out in LA – he’s only permitted five hits through four innings and the Phillies lead the pivotal fourth game of the NLCS. But what’s that on the bill of his hat?

It has been two years since Kenny Rogers dominated the Cards in the 2006 World Series, when he was widely believed to have been cheating with pine tar on his hand. Earlier this season, Jake Peavy had a dark substance on his pitching hand, but nothing came of it.

Innocent foreign substance, or something sinister? We’ll continue to poke around to see if Blanton always has something dark on the bill of his hat.
