NFL Preview: 8. Seattle Seahawks

We’ve got the 12 NFL playoff teams for you, and we’ll be previewing them in order of how they’ll be bounced from the postseason. We’ll alternate between leagues until we unearth your Super Bowl Champion. Can’t wait for September 7? Neither can we.
Offseason: Lose the Super Bowl? Pickup the best defensive player in free agency, Julian Peterson. Plucking Russell Davis from the Cardinals and Nate Burleson from the Vikings wasn’t so bad, either. On the flip side, RB Shaun Alexander can’t be happy G Steve Hutchinson ended up with the Vikings. And losing two key components to the secondary can’t be a good thing.
Schedule: For a Super Bowl runner-up, it’s surprisingly not that brutal. Second half road games include … Denver and Tampa? Oct. 29 at Kansas City should be fun.
Projected record: Arizona and St. Louis are improved, and one has to wonder if Seattle’s offense can duplicate last year’s magic. 12-4 seems about right, but the key will be nudging out Carolina and Dallas for the homefield advantage.
What they’re lacking: A No. 2 receiver behind Darrell Jackson? A replacement for Hutch on the o-line? A terrifying defensive line?
Why they’re in the Playoffs Alexander is one of the best three backs in the league, Matt Hasselbeck is a top-tier quarterback, and the linebackers are vicious.
Why they’ll lose in the second round: We just think Dallas and Carolina are better. But should Seattle secure homefield advantage … ah, people hate it when we do that.

Video: You’ve got to wait about a minute for it, but you’ll be pleased. Who can forget when the meanest, baddest, toughest, linebacker ever, Brian Bosworth, got trucked by Bo Jakson at the goal line? Happens to the best of us, Boz.

10. Washington Redskins
