This Man is Not Happy… and Some Other Thoughts
College Football October 25th. 2008, 8:08pmQuick thoughts on some of today’s college football games (and a special surprise after the jump)…
Texas 28 Oklahoma St. 24 F - Awesome game. Colt McCoy was pretty sick: 38-of-45 for 391, 2TDs, 1INT. It’s safe to say he’ll stay in the mix. But great showing by Oklahoma State, I knew the picture I posted of Barry would inspire them.
Georgia 52 LSU 38 F - 926 yards of total offense. Entertaining, but as messy as Charlie Weis’ groin gut. Not sure what to draw from this other than both teams (mostly LSU) threw a lot of crap in the air in hopes of it getting caught by the right dude. Only three total picks in the game, but a lot of ugly desperate heaves were dropped.
Texas Tech 63 Kansas 21 F - Graham Harrell did whatever he wanted today, barely played the 4th quarter. The thorough dismantling of Kansas was already covered here.
Michigan St. 35 Michigan 21 F – State beats Michigan for the first time since 2001. The Wolverines have lost four at home for the first time in four decades. Michigan is fucking 2-6. Everyone in Ann Arbor pukes tonight.
Rutgers 54 Pitt 34 F – As TBL pointed out, Rutgers QB Mike Teel went absolutely nuts, going 14-of-21 for 361 yards and 6 touchdown passes. The game was at Pitt and they were ranked 17th going into it. I smell an inspiring shotgun party in jersey right now with a bunch of Gotti clones.
Feel free to drop by here in the comments for tonight’s Penn State-Ohio State game. Oh, you didn’t hear? Yeah, they’re scheduled to throw the ball around and stuff.
Who knows if we’ll have any baseball…
And I leave you with this, since it appears people have been feverishly searching for her with no such luck…

Muck Fichigan!!! Sparty On!
October 25th, 2008 at 8:13 pm
“tenn’s offense reminds of what happens when you really force out a fart and shit happens in your pants.” Tbl from a prior thread.
TBL is Clown.
October 25th, 2008 at 8:13 pm
I assume you already threw a keg.
October 25th, 2008 at 8:13 pm
One last plea for Penn State to show up tonight …
October 25th, 2008 at 8:14 pm
10 years ago I would have. Too old for that shit now.
October 25th, 2008 at 8:15 pm
well, im done even watching the Tenn game. too painful.
do like what i’ve seen from the PSU defense on the first two plays. i’m having shane conlon (sp?) flashbacks from like 1987 …
October 25th, 2008 at 8:16 pm
what a TERRIBLE angle that CB/S took on that Pryor play. fucking idiot. keep him inside, you fool!
October 25th, 2008 at 8:16 pm
Ok, you can at least hurl a Party Ball. Do those even exist anymore?
October 25th, 2008 at 8:18 pm
Great call. Conlan. Guy’s head was bigger than Nelson de la Rosa.
October 25th, 2008 at 8:19 pm
TBL-that was exactly what I was saying all last week. get use to it.
October 25th, 2008 at 8:20 pm
Coor’s Light Party Ball! Sophmore year in college we had a 16 year old high school chick buy one at the liquor store. Kind of sad a high school chick looked older than a bunch of drunken 19 year old college students.
October 25th, 2008 at 8:22 pm
i am so waiting for a report out of E. Lansing that it is on fire. I know Michigan sucks. but it has been for-ev-er.
October 25th, 2008 at 8:23 pm
Penn State needs to spread them out and use all their speed.
October 25th, 2008 at 8:24 pm
i seem to remember nearly crying when Miami lost to PSU in the orange bowl. i think conlan had a monster game.
yup, he did
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/1987_Fiesta_Bowl
i wonder if that game still stands as one of the highest-rated ever?
October 25th, 2008 at 8:26 pm
That’s the game that officially made me a huge Hurricane’s fan but it wasn’t in the Orange bowl it was the Fiesta in AZ
October 25th, 2008 at 8:29 pm
isn’t their some kind of BCS exception for Notre Dame?
October 25th, 2008 at 8:30 pm
goddamn golden tate is good. watch… watch… watch … heisman finalist next year, bam!
October 25th, 2008 at 8:30 pm
moleman-reminds me of the Rocket.
/not clemens
//not the guy from Rookie of the Year
October 25th, 2008 at 8:31 pm
Sparty, I think if they’re in the top 8 they’re in.
October 25th, 2008 at 8:31 pm
i know, the rocketeer?
im dying on the clicked, ive got notre dame, the penguins, and psu going at once
October 25th, 2008 at 8:32 pm
isn’t their some kind of BCS exception for Notre Dame?
October 25th, 2008 at 8:32 pm
*clicker
and its an exception for non conference schools, if you finish that high in the bcs you are guaranteed an at large bid
its no more ridiculous than the acc and big east getting automatic bids
October 25th, 2008 at 8:32 pm
ND could roll until they play Southern Cal.
October 25th, 2008 at 8:33 pm
i thought it was for all independent teams not just notre dame? not that its likely to happen for any of them this year or anything
October 25th, 2008 at 8:34 pm
so how bad does weis run it up on Ty? 14-0 midway through the first …
(says the guy who Took Wash +10)
October 25th, 2008 at 8:35 pm
that pass interference call that kept nd alive on that drive was bullshit but ill take it. its important they crush tyrone. i liked the guy, but he needs to go down hard.
October 25th, 2008 at 8:35 pm
TBL-ND has been getting better and better this season. I figured they would roll Washington by 24.
October 25th, 2008 at 8:36 pm
i’d like to see much more PSU running. not sure what’s with all this passing. nice 3rd and 7 conversion on the ground …
October 25th, 2008 at 8:36 pm
Sports Hernia is officially a Dick.
PSU is doing a good job on D.
October 25th, 2008 at 8:37 pm
sparty, are you in lansing? if so, tell all hockey players to watch their backs.
October 25th, 2008 at 8:37 pm
why? then you are playing to the Buckeyes strength. Spread them out and throw it around. Then once the LBs are thinking pass, shove it down their throat.
October 25th, 2008 at 8:38 pm
ANYONE – why does the ticker at the bottom show ABC TV SHOWS????
All new Eli Stone? WTF is that about?
throwing on 3rd and three? bailed out by the interference
October 25th, 2008 at 8:38 pm
TBL-i haven’t been back there since TJ Duckett was running the ball.
October 25th, 2008 at 8:40 pm
ANYONE – why does the ticker at the bottom show ABC TV SHOWS????
All new Eli Stone? WTF is that about?
Its called marketing my good man, its gonna happen on ABC but not on ESPN.
October 25th, 2008 at 8:42 pm
http://sports.espn.go.com/nba/news/story?id=3663455
First quote in big bold should piss TBL off.
October 25th, 2008 at 8:44 pm
if anyone is tired of listening to mccarver, I implore you to listen online to whatever your local espn radio channel is to boog sciambi call the game for espn. no one (sans vic scully) calls a better game than him
October 25th, 2008 at 8:44 pm
Yeah that police chief clearly hasn’t seen enough Isiah Thomas in action, it was only a matter of time before he was blaming his errors on a child.
October 25th, 2008 at 8:49 pm
and based on that Brent reaction to the catch that wasn’t a catch, it sounds like the play-by-play guy is on Penn State.
October 25th, 2008 at 8:50 pm
i am familiar with the concept of marketing. but simply by mentioning some lame TV show no sports has heard of it not what i’d call ‘effective.’ but hey, that’s just me.
there are a ton of better shows to promote on ABC.
LIKE THE CHARLIE BROWN HALLOWEEN SPECIAL! I just programmed it into my phone
October 25th, 2008 at 8:53 pm
Only Orange Bowl I ever went to was Colorado-Notre Dame when Rocket Ismail took back a punt for the go-ahead TD with less than 2 minutes left. Never seen a place completely explode like it did then, only to be called back on a clip.
Colorado won 10-9 and ended up sharing the title with Georgia Tech.
Great game though.
October 25th, 2008 at 8:54 pm
s
And Davie is in the booth, he should run it up on him too. Nice haircut, dick.
October 25th, 2008 at 8:54 pm
but simply by mentioning some lame TV show no sports has heard of it not what i’d call ‘effective.’ but hey, that’s just me.
TBL its a trick households make deals like yea Ill watch Housewives with you if we can watch the game. Then while watching the game the wife/girlfriend/significant other is like “Hmm, Eli Stone sounds interesting we should watch it.”
October 25th, 2008 at 8:55 pm
Eli Stone’s actually a good show. But putting it on a sports ticker is retarded.
October 25th, 2008 at 8:55 pm
“ANYONE – why does the ticker at the bottom show ABC TV SHOWS????”
Fox has been that shit for years during games. Afuckingnoying.
October 25th, 2008 at 8:57 pm
I don’t know what I did, but I like it.
Now let’s go talk to some animals.
October 25th, 2008 at 8:58 pm
Royster got offered to play lacrosse at Hopkins? Shit he could already have a national title.
October 25th, 2008 at 9:00 pm
I don’t know what I did, but I like it.
Sports Hernia-Making light of the fact that Michigan lost with a big ass pic of Rich Rod…Not cool.
October 25th, 2008 at 9:00 pm
Was that back when Eric Bieniemy was the enemy, hernia?
October 25th, 2008 at 9:01 pm
i can’t believe you went to this game SH. awesome.
October 25th, 2008 at 9:02 pm
P.S. Can’t believe Herbstreit is doing this game. If Ohio State wins, will they let him leave the booth early so he can go down to the sidelines to celebrate with the players again?
October 25th, 2008 at 9:02 pm
Couldn’t help it. Hope Vida can help mend fences.
October 25th, 2008 at 9:02 pm
Fuck VT. Great job by little brother beating up on UM.
October 25th, 2008 at 9:03 pm
too bad there’s no replay of the phantom clip
ismail was pretty damn electrifying … that’s what so awesome about youtube. you watch one vid, and then watch 10 more of ismail
October 25th, 2008 at 9:03 pm
Ty Willingham is an awful football coach. He sucks… because he is lazy… is incompetent… speeks in moronic platitudes… And also because he is black (how could we forget… even though the two coordinators for ND are black… Which is more than can be said for Ty’s staff… And also.. Ty has never been a coordinator… but he has a great clueless stare.. doosh). We are now seeing what year for of a Ty Willie football program wood look like… Apparently, an ass kicking by everyone involved.
Thank god, this guy was administratively lynched when he was.
Sorry Washington Fans… Enjoy.
October 25th, 2008 at 9:04 pm
Hernia-Fences mended.
October 25th, 2008 at 9:05 pm
“An Old-Fashioned Big Ten Battle Folks”, proclaims Brent Mussburger
October 25th, 2008 at 9:06 pm
wow, you worked in “lynched” and “because he’s black” in the same post. Congrats, you’re grand wizard material…
October 25th, 2008 at 9:07 pm
Tar Baby doesn’t like blacks coaches and spells douche doosh. Trying to figure out which part of Alabama he was raised in.
October 25th, 2008 at 9:08 pm
Ismail was hosed on the heisman. And it was a phantom clip.
Troy Smith over Quinn for heisman… Bwahahaaha.aa… What an espn joke.
Yes, We are still disgusted. But enjoy the fact that Troy Smith was diagnosed with herpes 6 months ago. Oop.. Did we just reveal private medical records? Or do we just not give a shit.
October 25th, 2008 at 9:11 pm
HA, yes I believe he was a senior. Ricky Watters had a TD and Chris Zorich was big in that one.
Wow, have not seen this clip in ages. Nice.
October 25th, 2008 at 9:11 pm
I think we can figure out who this guy is voting for.
October 25th, 2008 at 9:12 pm
and penn state’s in the red zone! woohoo!!
October 25th, 2008 at 9:12 pm
Detmer got the “career” heisman that year. Kinda sucks but pales in comparsion from when Jason White got the “my team is carrying me” heisman.
October 25th, 2008 at 9:13 pm
Chris Zorich was big in that one.
DA Bears!
October 25th, 2008 at 9:14 pm
this will sound nerdy, but i dont feel an OSU mystique tonight. there usually is this unidentifiable ‘feel’ to big OSU regular season games – they always seem to win. dont feel that tonight.
October 25th, 2008 at 9:15 pm
I feel this game is boring.
October 25th, 2008 at 9:15 pm
And the Colorado side of the stadium had a deafening chant of “ROCK-ETS A PUS-SY, ROCK-ETS A PUS-SY” going before they kicked off. And then he silenced them (momentarily).
October 25th, 2008 at 9:16 pm
TBL what are you talking about? for the past decade OSU has had no qb and just barely sneaks by and wins half their games 14-9
//bitter about the 2002 fiesta bowl
October 25th, 2008 at 9:17 pm
TBL this game is close all it takes is one play for PSU to fuck up. PSU needs a TD badly.
October 25th, 2008 at 9:17 pm
3-0 penn state. nice. who gets the ball first second half? PSU, right?
October 25th, 2008 at 9:17 pm
I love Brent Mustberger. Every game he covers is that much more interesting, but its completely unintentional. I wish you could bet on which team Brent bet on.
October 25th, 2008 at 9:18 pm
Who was Miami’s coach that year? Butch or Coker? You should NEVER lose with that much talent in college football.
October 25th, 2008 at 9:19 pm
like i said, it’s tough to identify. in the BIG regular season games ive seen on TV, i have this sense OSU is going to pull out the win. i missed the loss vs. texas in 2006, i dont think they lost in the reg season in 2007, and then last year the illinois game wasn’t big, and i think ABC only cut in for the 4th qtr (not 100% on that).
maybe this is my way of saying this isn’t a great OSU team. Wells looks ordinary. or maybe PSU is just that good?
October 25th, 2008 at 9:20 pm
in 02 it was coker.. but they really won the game? did you not see the last play of the first overtime? such bullshit
October 25th, 2008 at 9:20 pm
2002 was Coker
October 25th, 2008 at 9:21 pm
“john, i did not have Raven’s pass”
the man loves to gamble
October 25th, 2008 at 9:21 pm
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NMvjADmxhVw
October 25th, 2008 at 9:21 pm
Mustberger has to be a compulsive gambler. He sounded pissed when they were talking about the breeders cup.
October 25th, 2008 at 9:22 pm
Couldn’t agree more Cortes, I’m not a fan of either programs but that was a bullshit call
October 25th, 2008 at 9:23 pm
has anyone seen this? it’s political, so try not to get too angry. but this blog has amassed some kind of polling algorithm and claims mccain has only a 4% chance to win the election.
October 25th, 2008 at 9:23 pm
Shockey wasn’t on that team, was he? He won the year before if memory serves me correct.
October 25th, 2008 at 9:24 pm
TBL that’s nate silver’s (from baseball prospectus)site.. it even got a mention in SI a few weeks ago
October 25th, 2008 at 9:24 pm
i dont think he got the first, but what a generous spot
October 25th, 2008 at 9:24 pm
awesome sack by the guy who leads the country in sacks
how did Pryor not fumble that??
October 25th, 2008 at 9:25 pm
Shouldn’t have even been that close. Overtime my ass, the U went into that game with everyone in the country expecting them to win by at least 21. They beat the ever-loving shit out of Nebraska the year before.
October 25th, 2008 at 9:25 pm
SH, correct. he left after the 01 season for the draft
October 25th, 2008 at 9:25 pm
“some kind of polling algorithm and claims mccain has only a 4% chance to win the election.”
I don’t give a rat’s ass about either candidate, but 4% is generous. Obama is your next President and it isn’t going to be close.
October 25th, 2008 at 9:26 pm
I saw that TBL, made my night. I hadnt really paid close attention to the electoral college, but there’s no way he wins all those states he needs to win.
October 25th, 2008 at 9:26 pm
oh fuck, what a grab
dammit
October 25th, 2008 at 9:26 pm
That was a hell of a catch.
October 25th, 2008 at 9:26 pm
This video is
.
October 25th, 2008 at 9:26 pm
#7 didnt even play the ball or try to look at it
and it was poorly underthrown. if he turns around, he may have picked it
come on turnover …
October 25th, 2008 at 9:27 pm
i distinctly remember that before the game, the sideline reporter had “reported” that willis mcgahee was giving out invitations for the “Hurricane win- after party” BEFORE THE GAME!
October 25th, 2008 at 9:28 pm
There is nothing I hate more about college football than the stupid stars on the helmets. I have no idea why it pisses me off so much, but it does.
October 25th, 2008 at 9:28 pm
awesome sack by the guy who leads the country in sacks
how did Pryor not fumble that??
By not being Troy Smith
October 25th, 2008 at 9:29 pm
http://www.cnn.com/2008/POLITICS/10/25/palin.tension/index.html
October 25th, 2008 at 9:29 pm
Let’s all watch Weis limp off the field on ESPN 2! I cant believe he hasnt gotten surgery yet, he is wayyy tougher than Tom Brady.
October 25th, 2008 at 9:30 pm
Shockey might not have been there but they still had a “soldier” at TE.
October 25th, 2008 at 9:31 pm
I love the idea of Palin going rogue. It’s about time for her to make fun of people for believing in dinosaurs.
October 25th, 2008 at 9:32 pm
I’m a Republican but I can’t wait for Palin to go back to Alaska and never be heard from again
October 25th, 2008 at 9:32 pm
Elway played his whole career missing an ACL. Brady’s a pussy.
/jokes, got mine repaired 10 years ago…
October 25th, 2008 at 9:35 pm
first play of the 2nd half … Tenn sacked for a 9 yard loss. ahhhh, the stench of fulmer failing is like drakkar noir (when it was cool in like 1994)
October 25th, 2008 at 9:35 pm
I’m neither, but I agree with Hakeem
And Craig James just gave the worst analysis ever on the UT- Tech game next week.
October 25th, 2008 at 9:37 pm
hahahahahahahahaaa…hmmm hehe. aww, that’s funny
October 25th, 2008 at 9:38 pm
First pitch in 30 minutes.
October 25th, 2008 at 9:40 pm
b sanders – saw Eagle Eye today. pretty awesome. not awesome as in ‘amazing movie’ – just awesome entertainment, iMO.
end of days shit – i eat that up
October 25th, 2008 at 9:41 pm
Nice. I loves me some Michelle Monaghan. I saw Pride and Glory last night. Pretty good for the first 90 minutes, got ridiculous at the end, but some good acting and not a bad storyline.
October 25th, 2008 at 9:42 pm
TBL, you gotta watch that Bigger, Stronger, Faster documentary. It’s great.
October 25th, 2008 at 9:43 pm
helps that i have a crush on michelle monaghan.
dont like shia ladouche, though.
billy bob thornton had some funny lines. good action.
it was sort of like that will smith movie – enemy of the state.
good pic of her
October 25th, 2008 at 9:43 pm
what a terrible third period for the penguins. you finish the second killing a 2 minute 5 on 3 then give up a PP goal early and a tying goal with eight seconds left, off a fucking empty net miss. jesus christ.
October 25th, 2008 at 9:45 pm
Did Colorado schedule the wrong time for the Mizzou game?
October 25th, 2008 at 9:45 pm
Haha, good ol’ Philadelphia booing the shit out of the Rays players being announced.
October 25th, 2008 at 9:45 pm
bsanders – just looked that up. sounds cool. after i get my elbow checked out, i’m eager to get back to boxing class. working out and exercising is really fun. seriously
October 25th, 2008 at 9:46 pm
Seriously, is anyone watching Fox? LOVE this Fish song!
October 25th, 2008 at 9:47 pm
The fish song killed me. That was awesome. You gotta love Philly.
October 25th, 2008 at 9:47 pm
what song?
October 25th, 2008 at 9:49 pm
The song that was playing as Tampa’s lineup was introduced. It sounded like a Wiggles song or something.
October 25th, 2008 at 9:50 pm
TBL – For sure it is. Just as long as you don’t end up like this guy.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=q1pTN4KqolY&feature=related
He’s in the documentary – and he’s fucking insane.
October 25th, 2008 at 9:50 pm
@bsanders, I watched Bigger Faster Stronger today. Great documentary.
October 25th, 2008 at 9:51 pm
Nice job by Fox to show the Liberty Bell during the anthem. Taylor Swift did a really good job too.
October 25th, 2008 at 9:51 pm
This is like the moment where you realize your little brother is roughly the same size as you and you can’t beat him up anymore.
October 25th, 2008 at 9:53 pm
bsanders, is it on HBO yet? or just in video stores?
October 25th, 2008 at 9:53 pm
That was actually a great rendition of the national anthem, I’m kinda surprised. I live in Taylor Swift’s hometown, good to see her represent!
October 25th, 2008 at 9:54 pm
Cortes
- It came out on DVD a couple weeks back, I think. Here’s a link to a DVD rip online, though:
http://www.videosinhd.com/mega.html?file=X6FP7M1A
October 25th, 2008 at 9:58 pm
awesome thanks bsanders
October 25th, 2008 at 9:59 pm
that’s really good. i question a lot of PSU play-calling … why do they keep mixing up the pass and run so much? do what you do best – QB and RB running. but on 3rd and 7 a QB keeper? come on.
Irish jump up 24-0, that one’s done.
as for lifting … those guys are sick. disgusting. nobody thinks that looks remotely cool, i dont get it. it’s not even healthy. so what’s the point?
October 25th, 2008 at 10:01 pm
Carl Crawford, next stop, Baseball Tonight!
October 25th, 2008 at 10:02 pm
I felt bad for the oldest brother, the one still trying to be a pro wrestler. He had a good life but he couldn’t stop chasing that dream. You could tell it tore him apart that he couldn’t get there
October 25th, 2008 at 10:02 pm
im 2 mins in, and this bfs video is hilarious.
damn that pryor, converting a 3rd and 6
October 25th, 2008 at 10:02 pm
Some guy in the movie asks that guy “so can you do regular things, like make a sandwich?”
October 25th, 2008 at 10:04 pm
Hakeem
- Yeah, I feel worse for his wife, though. He should be happy with the “job” as a wrestling trainer, but he won’t give up the dream. You just know she’s going to eventually leave him and he’s going to start supplementing his steroid use with other drugs.
October 25th, 2008 at 10:05 pm
that’s no fucking catch in bounds!
no way!!!!!!!
October 25th, 2008 at 10:05 pm
oh, it was
damn
great grab
October 25th, 2008 at 10:06 pm
nice catch right there
October 25th, 2008 at 10:07 pm
ok, these guys are nut jobs. waking up at 330 to drink protein shakes and lift weights? gimmie a fucking break. that shit wont pay the bills.
i just do it to stay fit and try and look cut. operative word being “look”
October 25th, 2008 at 10:08 pm
Buckeyes DENIED
a FG for the lead …
PSU needs a clock-eating drive like that.
October 25th, 2008 at 10:09 pm
and so much for Tenn. 22-3. more $$ down the tubes.
October 25th, 2008 at 10:09 pm
Wait until they show the dude who costarred in “Over the Top” with Stallone. I love exercising and being in shape, but when you make that your entire life, that’s trouble.
October 25th, 2008 at 10:12 pm
That guy was so pathetic, he kept working out expecting a call at any moment from hollywood. meanwhile living in a van
October 25th, 2008 at 10:12 pm
Philly is chanting “EVA” at Evan Longoria… hilarious!
October 25th, 2008 at 10:14 pm
Damn, I don’t know if they’ve got the crowd mike up louder than normal, but this Philly crowd is making Yankee Stadium and Fenway sound tepid in comparison.
October 25th, 2008 at 10:16 pm
bsanders, do you have a link to a “rip” of pride and glory?
October 25th, 2008 at 10:16 pm
I never trust the crowd noise on a broadcast because you just never know how many mikes they have and at what level they’re set at.
October 25th, 2008 at 10:16 pm
Dude’s living out of a van, yet he maintains: “they don’t have what we’ve got. As long as we can outbench them, outsquat them, they’ll never have what we have.”
Yeah, like a house without wheels.
October 25th, 2008 at 10:16 pm
s1: These fans have been drinking since 5… they are going to be insane tonight.
October 25th, 2008 at 10:17 pm
It’s cause you’re used to the only sound being from fucking cowbells.
October 25th, 2008 at 10:17 pm
Was just thinking the same thing, place is rabid. Keep in mind, first world series since ‘93. Fenway may have gotten a bit lax.
October 25th, 2008 at 10:18 pm
I’ve got split screen going between the World Series and PSU-OSU. Don’t know which one to keep the sound on though.
October 25th, 2008 at 10:19 pm
Cortes
- Haven’t seen that one pop up online yet, but Body of Lies showed up the Monday after it opened so I’d imagine it’ll show up shortly. I did see that someone just posted “Midnight Meat Train” starring Vinnie Jones. Looks like a winner.
October 25th, 2008 at 10:19 pm
Garza has been high…….
October 25th, 2008 at 10:20 pm
i just dont get it. psu is moving the ball fine, and then they go long on 1st and 2nd, and now it’s 3rd and 10 and you’re not in FG range. what were they thinking? keep it on the ground. it’s working!
October 25th, 2008 at 10:20 pm
Garza has cotton in his ears. Oh I definitely predict a huge offensive night for the Phillies.
October 25th, 2008 at 10:21 pm
Wow, minute and a half straight of silence from Buck and McCarver. Like an oasis in the middle of the desert.
October 25th, 2008 at 10:21 pm
Actually, mics must be different. I can hear the freaking ump say, “that’s inside.”
October 25th, 2008 at 10:23 pm
Garza looks terrible. This could get ugly.
October 25th, 2008 at 10:23 pm
29 yard line … that’s a 46 yarder. go for it in 4th and 4?
October 25th, 2008 at 10:23 pm
fuck. pulled it right. dammmit
October 25th, 2008 at 10:24 pm
sorry, but PSU looks like the better team. but they’re getting killed by bad play-calling on offense. monday is going to be painful if JoePa doesn’t use his cane to beat the off coordinator
October 25th, 2008 at 10:24 pm
THis Ump is fucking Terrible.
October 25th, 2008 at 10:27 pm
Wrong… game 2 Ump was worse.
October 25th, 2008 at 10:27 pm
Dear god Ryan Howard sucks.
October 25th, 2008 at 10:29 pm
I’m going through my NFL picks for the Pick-Em league I’m in. There are some terrible lines for tomorrow. And by terrible I mean terrible to pick against. I’m having a lot of trouble with Arizona @ Carolina (-4.5). Any thoughts?
October 25th, 2008 at 10:30 pm
Be wary of taking Carolina at home. They always manage to underachieve there, for whatever reason.
October 25th, 2008 at 10:30 pm
take carolina at home.. arizona stinks on the road..didn’t they allow the jets to score 56? cmon on..
October 25th, 2008 at 10:30 pm
Holy shit, who’s got the ball?
October 25th, 2008 at 10:30 pm
what a mistake by Pryor
October 25th, 2008 at 10:30 pm
FUMBLE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
October 25th, 2008 at 10:31 pm
carolina at home this season: 4-0
October 25th, 2008 at 10:32 pm
New QB for Penn State? Whats going on?
October 25th, 2008 at 10:32 pm
Questionable QB change?
October 25th, 2008 at 10:33 pm
Cortes
- I think they’ll win, but it looks like a “Kasay FG at the end” game to me. Plus, 4.5 points is the “Vegas doesn’t have a clue” line.
October 25th, 2008 at 10:33 pm
Clark is fucking PISSED.
October 25th, 2008 at 10:33 pm
what do you guys think about philly giving atlanta 9 points?
October 25th, 2008 at 10:35 pm
Philly off the bye, all the way.
October 25th, 2008 at 10:35 pm
the OSU bench has done more cheerleading tonight than the actual cheerleaders.
October 25th, 2008 at 10:36 pm
good god, the women in this BFS doc are scary looking
October 25th, 2008 at 10:38 pm
damn, what did i miss in the game? penn state game, i mean
October 25th, 2008 at 10:40 pm
Pryor fumbled on his 40, PSU switched QB’s because Clark might have a concussion, and PSU just took it down OSU’s throat for 7 points.
October 25th, 2008 at 10:40 pm
Pryor fumbled, pass interference penalty, a couple runs, TD
October 25th, 2008 at 10:40 pm
@Cortes: I’m taking Philly, but the 8.5 points scare me.
October 25th, 2008 at 10:43 pm
anyone taking the steelers -3 over NYG after hearing parker/holmes are out?
October 25th, 2008 at 10:43 pm
Philly will have Westbrook and Kevin Curtis back. Atlanta will fall back to earth. That line doesnt scare me at all.
October 25th, 2008 at 10:44 pm
Ruiz! 2-1 Philly
October 25th, 2008 at 10:48 pm
PSU’s about to close this one out, me thinks.
October 25th, 2008 at 10:49 pm
so the browns pussed out on sending a message to Winslow, they rescinded the suspension.
/didn’t read comments to see if someone said this.
October 25th, 2008 at 10:50 pm
This Ump is so Horrible
October 25th, 2008 at 10:51 pm
bo what part of tampa are you in? aren’t the fans annoying as hell
October 25th, 2008 at 10:52 pm
Winslow is a soldier, a Lieutenant I believe. Officers rarely get sent to the brig.
October 25th, 2008 at 10:55 pm
Cortez-I live in south Tampa. Yes their fans are annoying as shit but at least they are getting fans now.
October 25th, 2008 at 10:56 pm
Rays need to lose this or their fans will be even more annoying.
October 25th, 2008 at 10:58 pm
the sad thing is, OSU could easily take this to OT. two good WR and a mobile QB.
you know who looked terribly slow tonight? beanie wells. against a team with some speed, he did NOTHING. wonder if this will have any impact on what NFL scouts think of him.
October 25th, 2008 at 10:58 pm
Jayson Werth is a dead-ringer for Edge.
October 25th, 2008 at 11:01 pm
80 yards in 67 seconds is a lot to ask of a freshman who hasn’t led his team into the end zone yet tonight.
October 25th, 2008 at 11:01 pm
might sound weird, but i’d bring in boeckman for this drive. he’s probably the better deep passer, no? more experience with a 2-min offense?
October 25th, 2008 at 11:04 pm
picked off!!!
ohio state is done!!!
October 25th, 2008 at 11:05 pm
penn state’s got the inside track on the national title game!!
October 25th, 2008 at 11:05 pm
What an awful throw
October 25th, 2008 at 11:05 pm
JoePa looks like he doesn’t know what just happened.
October 25th, 2008 at 11:05 pm
Hope Spence is okay
October 25th, 2008 at 11:05 pm
And PSU goes to the Nat’l Title game.
October 25th, 2008 at 11:06 pm
poor pryor. probably shouldn’t have gone for it all there, but he’s a freshman, can’t totally blame the guy.
rough fourth qtr, though. and couldn’t run the ball against a damn good defense, either
October 25th, 2008 at 11:06 pm
And now to watch Arizona give USC all it can handle with that boxing dude on the call. Nice.
October 25th, 2008 at 11:06 pm
we will ruin PSU’s title hopes…ha!
October 25th, 2008 at 11:08 pm
Oh poor Pryor I feel so bad for that guy….False, Fuck him hes a cock should have gone to Michigan.
October 25th, 2008 at 11:09 pm
but he didn’t Tampa Bo, and Michigan sucks.
October 25th, 2008 at 11:09 pm
thank god, osu is dead. and listening to herbie eat it on the air is just epic.
now if there is a god bama and ut win out keeping an undeserving conference out of the title game finally
October 25th, 2008 at 11:10 pm
now if there is a god bama and ut win out keeping an undeserving conference out of the title game finally
Cant wait for the Big 12 and SEC Championship games.
October 25th, 2008 at 11:10 pm
finally? didn’t joepa go undefeated 4 times and get left out of the title all 4 times? or am i “misremembering” that
//clemens’d
October 25th, 2008 at 11:10 pm
Navarro Bowman, the next great PSU LB
They just blew Joe Pa in the end credits, very sappy stuff
October 25th, 2008 at 11:11 pm
don’t think it is 4 times. but he has been screwed more than once.
October 25th, 2008 at 11:12 pm
Moyer is dealing
October 25th, 2008 at 11:14 pm
I know it’s cliched, but Moyer is absolutely reminding me of the “crafty veteran” Eddie Harris.
October 25th, 2008 at 11:14 pm
not to completely dump on the big ten here, but if people are so willing to keep teams like boise state out of it when they run to table why in gods name would an undefeated big ten team that will beat one team that is ranked at the end of the year get in over a one loss georgia, florida, bama, or oklahoma. just seems stupid to me.
October 25th, 2008 at 11:15 pm
Yeah, it’s always fun to see Inferior Big 12 North Team X get destroyed.
October 25th, 2008 at 11:17 pm
hey kansas state won it ….. five year ago?
October 25th, 2008 at 11:18 pm
I think OSU has a shot against Oklahoma next week.
October 25th, 2008 at 11:19 pm
Eddie Harris is one of the all time big game starters
October 25th, 2008 at 11:19 pm
and by OSU I mean the one-loss OSU.
October 25th, 2008 at 11:20 pm
Yeah, but the BCS decided to ignore that game, so it doesn’t really count.
October 25th, 2008 at 11:21 pm
wow they don’t play OU until 11/29 nevermind
October 25th, 2008 at 11:23 pm
while psu is done the 22nd, so they can rest for seven weeks before getting drubbed in miami by *insert big twelve champion here*
October 25th, 2008 at 11:24 pm
Penn State may be part of the “fradulent” Big Ten, but if they win what can you say
October 25th, 2008 at 11:26 pm
If they win the NC? I’m not too worried about it.
October 25th, 2008 at 11:27 pm
whatever was said to keep boise state out of the title game two years ago
October 25th, 2008 at 11:27 pm
thecassino = greatest college football expert evar!
October 25th, 2008 at 11:30 pm
Just because OSU has lost the NC 2 years in a row dont think PSU cant win.
October 25th, 2008 at 11:31 pm
If they win the NC? I’m not too worried about it.
True they will not be favored but if we have learned ANYTHING from college football in the last 2 years its that anything is possible. Am I wrong?
October 25th, 2008 at 11:33 pm
my concern isnt that, its just rewarding a team for playing a ridiculously easy schedule. its not their fault that michigan and wisconsin fucking suck, but its their fault for scheduling coastal carolina and temple. i try not to slob on the sec but i cannot honestly believe a one loss georgia team if they win the sec title game is less deserving of the national championship game than penn state
October 25th, 2008 at 11:34 pm
or a one loss florida team
or a one loss oklahoma team (assuming texas loses two games, which i dont see happening)
October 25th, 2008 at 11:36 pm
but whatever, theres still alot of football to be played and michigan state should be a somewhat tough game as thats the best running team they will play all year, cant look past it thats for sure
whats nuts is their schedule would be much more impressive if they played minny
October 25th, 2008 at 11:36 pm
Or a one loss Alabama team
October 25th, 2008 at 11:37 pm
sigh, if there was only a playoff…
October 25th, 2008 at 11:43 pm
or a one loss usc
kidding!
October 25th, 2008 at 11:45 pm
A playoff wouldnt solve anything really. There are at least 13 teams that all have a legitimate claim to be in a playoff.
October 25th, 2008 at 11:47 pm
IAA playoffs are 16 teams and it works out just fine. and it shows that the ‘but its during finals’ argument is horseshit
October 25th, 2008 at 11:51 pm
16 would dilute the pool too much. No way would they make a 16 team playoff. It would be 8.
October 26th, 2008 at 12:07 am
As a PSU grad, I’d love to see them in the NC game, but would have a hard time making a legit argument of them over a 1 loss SEC team. I’m not entirely sure what I think about the Big 12 teams yet. They’re so scheme oriented and don’t think defensively they’re as good as PSU/OSU.
October 26th, 2008 at 12:08 am
Nice of you to finally show up, Ryan Howard.
October 26th, 2008 at 12:12 am
Anyone other than me watching the Anderson Silva fight?
October 26th, 2008 at 12:15 am
Wait. . .is that Tyrone Wheatly in the white Michigan coat?
October 26th, 2008 at 12:30 am
Well, Anderson Silva didn’t knock him out. . .
October 26th, 2008 at 1:30 am
Toooooo funny, since Vandy lost to ACC bottom dweller Duke today, and Auburn got absolutely whooped by a WVU team that will likely finish middle of the pack in the Big East. Good thing Alabama has that meaningful win over Clemson, though …
Side Note: Big East record in BCS since losing Miami et. al.? 3-1. SEC + Big 12 record vs. Big East in BCS during that time? 0-2. Get over yourself, “power conferences.”
October 26th, 2008 at 1:32 am
the same auburn that has a losing record in conference? great point
October 26th, 2008 at 1:34 am
and bowl records outside of the national championship are the most meaningless stat ever, theyre week long vacations with a game at the end of it. the big east is at its pinnacle a conference whose best team cant beat fucking pittsburgh to get to the national championship game
October 26th, 2008 at 1:47 am
wow what an ending. nice throw.
October 26th, 2008 at 2:21 am
Huh.
Last I checked Auburn was smack dab in the middle of their division — 3rd out of 6. You know, the Auburn that kept it pretty close with “11th ranked” LSU? And they lost to a team that’s likely to finish 3rd in the Big East.
That, combined with Vandy’s stellar performance (you know, the team that’s 3rd on the other side of the SEC that could only muster 7 points against effing Duke?) and the Big East’s .750 BCS winning percentage might suggest that your desire to cut the ACC and the Big East out of the BCS pie is really one big “afraid to lose” sort of complex.
But hey, those in power are always seeking to consolidate their power — they have the most to lose.
October 26th, 2008 at 2:38 am
vandy isnt as good as people thought, theyre a late failing east carolina.
not quite sure what your point about auburn is though still. they lost to a team that is currently on top of their conference when auburn is 2-3 in theirs.
i dont REALLY think that they should lose their automatic bids, but i do think its stupid that if a conference champion is ranked outside of the top ten they will take a spot away from an at large team that could be ranked in the top five because there are too many teams from their conference represented already
but the acc and big east are not that good this year. neither is the pac 10 but at least they had a legit contender in their mist at some point
my point originally was that notre dame being guaranteed a bid if they are higher than eight in the bcs rankings is no more ridiculous than giving a team out of the top ten a birth because they won their conference
