November 5th, 2008 at 8:25 am
Yes, please, all you whiners can move to Canada now. Thanks.
November 5th, 2008 at 8:27 am

November 5th, 2008 at 8:27 am
I guess you are not allowed to be dissapointed when your guy loses
November 5th, 2008 at 8:29 am

November 5th, 2008 at 8:30 am
I’d like to Ivanka her Trumps.
November 5th, 2008 at 8:31 am
Does anyone know why Rodriguez wears those red and green wristbands? I’ve never seen the reason anywhere. He looks like a damn wrestling referee on the sidelines.
November 5th, 2008 at 8:31 am
hef, when are you going to post offseason player movement predictions on MLJ?
November 5th, 2008 at 8:32 am
sparty:didn’t know you were “red†-lol
my face was, very flushed.
I’m feeling a little blue myself, today
/trying to act Democratic
November 5th, 2008 at 8:32 am
People were firing guns off throughout DC last night.
November 5th, 2008 at 8:33 am
And that’s different from normal how?
November 5th, 2008 at 8:33 am
and that is out of the norm?
November 5th, 2008 at 8:33 am
I should mention that it was a celebratory act, not the commonn crime act.
November 5th, 2008 at 8:33 am
by a nose, roeth!
November 5th, 2008 at 8:33 am
The sky is falling! The sky is falling! Everyone protect your guns!!

As a Republican, I vow to give President Obama the same amount of support, respect and understanding that was so generously afforded to President Bush by the opposition party.
November 5th, 2008 at 8:33 am
exactly…
November 5th, 2008 at 8:34 am
I voted for Obama, but I woke up feeling sick to my stomach, because I know we’re going to spend the six months at least watching the Dems pat themselves on the back, the Republicans tear themselves apart and the media playing Wednesday morning quarterback.
What struck me the most is the popular vs. electoral numbers. It was considered a blowout, but McCain still pulled 46% of the votes. Amazing.
November 5th, 2008 at 8:35 am
I can’t believe I saw three people doing this (NSFW) on my street last night.
November 5th, 2008 at 8:35 am

Been hearing a lot of this all morning. It’s nice to see Americans act so mature. Is there a more close-minded approach?
November 5th, 2008 at 8:35 am
Last night’s threads are hillarious. For the most part people were civil and a couple new wierdos joined the fray. Hef, do you have a hang-over or do you use those chaser pills?
November 5th, 2008 at 8:36 am
Apparently Steve Young’s last ditch best effort was to try reverse psychology and put signs against the ban in his yard.
November 5th, 2008 at 8:37 am
BSanders – Jesus – NSFW tag please!
November 5th, 2008 at 8:38 am
You’re right, Dems are the reason he has a 25% approval rating.
November 5th, 2008 at 8:40 am
Been hearing a lot of this all morning. It’s nice to see Americans act so mature. Is there a more close-minded approach?
hey ill:
I voted for McCain but I hope Obama is the greatest President ever. Don’t try and act like the Republicans cornered the market on being immature and stupid
November 5th, 2008 at 8:40 am
Rich wears those bands to help signal in calls from the side line. Somewhat akin to when catchers tape/paint their fingers in baseball.
November 5th, 2008 at 8:44 am
It’s funny how suddenly it’s important to act in an “open-minded” and “mature” manner.
November 5th, 2008 at 8:45 am
The big winner last night? Ralph Nader
November 5th, 2008 at 8:46 am
Somewhat of a thread jack…seriously, how emo is Will Leitch? I seriously hope he’s kidding in his “going to an election party” to have a good hookup.
Odds are that guy’s still a virgin.
November 5th, 2008 at 8:47 am
hey he worked hard to get all that disrespect!
November 5th, 2008 at 8:48 am
jpq – That’s not what I am trying to do at all. I just think that’s a poor attitude to have towards the new President. How is not giving him a chance going to help America (or the World) recover?
November 5th, 2008 at 8:49 am
What is with the hate for Will? He is a funny guy and a great writer. There were MANY election parties around mi casa last night FWIW.
November 5th, 2008 at 8:49 am
If my only options are politics and hot stove, can I choose neither?
So does my write in vote for Gossip Girl count for nothing?

November 5th, 2008 at 8:52 am
It’s an entirely different situation. Bush wasn’t elected.
November 5th, 2008 at 8:52 am
@ Magglio
Somewhat agree with this, but I don’t want to get started. Great writer, but his “woe is me” act has gotten old.
November 5th, 2008 at 8:54 am
Can you tell this man relies on Rolling Stone for his news?
Seriously, congrats to Obama. To quote a right-wing bloger: “I’ll never be a fan, but I swear I’ll never take a nutroots posture either in relishing his failures because it helps my party. Like it or not, he’s my president. As a great man once said, country first.”
November 5th, 2008 at 8:55 am
I also read the Economist. They endorsed Obama.
November 5th, 2008 at 8:56 am
Er, they also endorsed John Kerry.
November 5th, 2008 at 8:58 am
I don’t see how an election party makes someone emo. Just, ya know, interested in politics.
November 5th, 2008 at 8:58 am
My “I’ll support Obama like the Dems supported Bush” comment was in jest. I’ll support Obama because he’s the President of the United States. No question. I was just pointing out the hypocrisy of those who say we should unite behind Obama but never gave Bush a chance. (See the “Bush wasn’t elected” comment)
November 5th, 2008 at 8:59 am
State first, then country.
November 5th, 2008 at 9:00 am
@ Cousins
Election parties don’t make anyone emo, but I seriously hope we all have better options of hooking up than at election parties. Don’t know about you all, but I sure as hell don’t feel that way.
November 5th, 2008 at 9:00 am
His “woe is me act” is more of a “woe is us” act representing bloggers as a group IMO. Bloggers get little to no repsect in MSM and just because Will was the one who was chosen to be on Costas Now doesn’t mean he is a bad guy. He didn’t choose to be there, he just wanted to set the record strait about blogs and thought that was a decent stage to do so IMO.
November 5th, 2008 at 9:01 am
@Jimmy (et al):
We need a little bit of this…

I will also support Obama in every way I can, even though I voted against him.(No, not McCain) Honestly, I think the Democratic party right now may be better for our country going forward. But, is there a more pompous group of people than the Democrats. And its the white Democrats that I hate the most. Most of them wouldn’t have invited Obama in to their house ten years ago, but now they think they’re Lincoln.
November 5th, 2008 at 9:02 am
I’m sure Will is afforded every opportunity to get laid that any man his age is.
November 5th, 2008 at 9:03 am
In other news:
Kevin Johnson is the Mayor of Sacramento
AJ Burnett is now a Free Agent
November 5th, 2008 at 9:04 am
and Donte Hall has been waived by the Raiders.
Change has come.
November 5th, 2008 at 9:04 am
Probably be easier to just wait till the moves happen and then criticize them in hindsight.
The Mark Ellis signing was the best signing of the offseason. Oakland is stealing money from that guy.
November 5th, 2008 at 9:04 am
What? Are you really dying for a guess over who will pay Manny the most money?
November 5th, 2008 at 9:05 am
Well said. At least he nailed the acceptance/victory speech, so I guess you could qualify it as a good (extremely early) start. And what all of the “sky is falling” ‘bublicans need to remember is that, seriously, even if Obama is a complete, unmitigated disaster of a president, that won’t really be too far off the mark from what we received from the office in 2004-2008. Everybody’s going to be fine.
November 5th, 2008 at 9:07 am
@ Magglio
Please, don’t get me started on respect. When the leading traffic site for sports blogs sends reporters to Miami to overlook Stu Scott’s text messages, be prepared for some criticism.
Plus, a similar thing happened to Will and he got all pissy about it. Read points 2 and 3.
November 5th, 2008 at 9:07 am
Didn’t The Big Lead get into hot water for representing the bloggers as a whole?
You can’t be serious.
November 5th, 2008 at 9:07 am
Despite the fact that I know this is the forum for social change my support means nothing to any politician and I’m OK with that.
November 5th, 2008 at 9:08 am
I was flipping around between all of the news channels last night, and the big leadoff was Obama winning PA. I really enjoyed some asshat on Fox News stating that Obama won PA because we, as Pennsylvanians, were too stupid to understand the causes of the economic factors.
November 5th, 2008 at 9:09 am
Why is a football column about an election party bring this up again?
November 5th, 2008 at 9:09 am
Sounds like Kevin Johnson will fit in well at his newly elected position.
November 5th, 2008 at 9:10 am
AJ Burnett: “Fooling MLB GM’s for over 10 years”
that guy is a complete stiff. Think he read Carl Pavano’s book on how to have a good contract year, then disappear again until the next payday.
November 5th, 2008 at 9:13 am
I guess Alec Baldwin, Susan Surandon, et al. can move back to the US now. Wait…you mean they never left?
November 5th, 2008 at 9:20 am
So why exactly do you guys hate Will? I am not getting it. Because he does things to Stu Scott, that when done to him, he bitches about? Ok, is that all?
November 5th, 2008 at 9:38 am
I’m Brian Fellows, and I voted for Obama! (In actuality, I voted for McCain and I am bitter this morning).
November 5th, 2008 at 12:56 pm
And most of the white Republicans would only see him as a “quota hire”. I’ve lived in the middle of the Bible Belt long enough(48 years) to know this isn’t all that far off.
