College Football Top 10
College Football November 7th. 2008, 4:15pm
We’ve suddenly got a queasy feeling about Saturday. Will Penn State, whose QB is not fully back from a concussion, go into a Greene-out in Iowa and dispatch the Hawkeyes? What if Florida suffers a letdown in Vandy? What if LSU somehow solves Alabama’s defense? If any or all of these happen, it will mean smiles all across the USC campus. At this point, we’re holding out hope for Florida vs. Penn State for the title, but there’s a good chance Beano Cook’s Alabama-Penn State prediction comes a year early. This week, we make picks in the rankings.
1. Alabama 9-0. Beat LSU 20-10.
2. Penn State 9-0. Beat Iowa, 27-23.
3. Texas Tech 9-0. Lose to the Cowboys, 34-31.
4. Florida 7-1. Beat Vandy, 30-17.
5. Oklahoma 8-1. Beat Texas A&M 45-14.
6. USC 7-1. Beat Cal, 38-13.
7. Texas 8-1. Beat Baylor 34-7.
8. Oklahoma State 8-1. Beat Red Raiders, 34-31.
9. Utah 10-0. Nice win over Utah, 13-10.
10. Boise State 8-0. Beat Utah State, 31-10.

Well, it’s that time of year where a few top teams stumble.
9. Utah 10-0. Nice win over Utah, 13-10.
Is a scrimmage win considered nice at this point in the season?
November 7th, 2008 at 4:18 pm
When Utah plays Utah again, let me know
November 7th, 2008 at 4:18 pm
Who wants the one second from the right?….Not me.
November 7th, 2008 at 4:19 pm
what happened to the chicks with the big bewbs?
November 7th, 2008 at 4:19 pm
I feel like I strapped on a flux capacitor and went back in time. Or forward. I dunno.
November 7th, 2008 at 4:21 pm
Texas is 7th? Behind an OU team they beat? You predict an OSU victory this week, so OSU would jump Texas? Likely Tech wouldn’t fall behind Texas, so next week you would rank Tech, OU, and OSU all ahead of Texas? Wow, one loss and the team falls off the planet.
November 7th, 2008 at 4:22 pm
why are they doing a Greene-out in Iowa? i know Shonn Greene, but still. A Black-out to contrast the Penn State white out would be much cooler. a better question, why am i going to Iowa City next weekend to see them “battle” Purdue and not this game?
because i’m an idiot, that’s why.
November 7th, 2008 at 4:23 pm
if USC only scores 38 on cal, i’ll eat a shroom and swiss burger from burger king.
November 7th, 2008 at 4:24 pm
I will be taking my hungover ass to DKR at 11am to watch Texas-Baylor. Hopefully I’ll see another fight between a dude-bro and his dude-bitch.
/ She tore his gameday shirt. And he seriously called it his “gameday shirt”. White people.
November 7th, 2008 at 4:24 pm
Benji-after seeing the blackout done in GA, i think it sucks. nothing tops a whiteout.
/racist?
November 7th, 2008 at 4:26 pm
Benji – I think it is actually a “black out” in Iowa this weekend for the normal folk, and I think the students are doing a “Greene out” to support his Heisman candidacy (hah!).
TBL – Do you self a favor this weekend. Lay the 7 and take PSU.
November 7th, 2008 at 4:27 pm
there was this place back where i lived in Michigan, Beau Jacks. They had a swiss and mushroom burger called the Gary Burger. Sooooo good.
November 7th, 2008 at 4:27 pm
sparty, the blackout doesn’t have anything to do with the GA colors. green doesn’t in Iowa either. black would be cool. but you’re right, nothing tops the white out in Happy Valley.

KSU is denying they hired Patterson.

Whiteouts in hockey are sweet.
November 7th, 2008 at 4:31 pm
Not sure how you can have PSU in front of Texas Tech, but hey, it’s your opinion.
Also, I’d have USC a bit higher. I think they have done more than Oklahoma.
November 7th, 2008 at 4:31 pm
Yes, yes, yes and yes.
Utah > Utah
November 7th, 2008 at 4:33 pm
Alphabetically.
Hey – at least it’s not a multiple tie at the top for No. 2
November 7th, 2008 at 4:33 pm
im sure it was good…but that place probably makes it themselves…now burger king? that’s a different story.
/i consider BK to be the lowest form of sustinence.
November 7th, 2008 at 4:34 pm
Its called defense.
These “insert stupid color”-outs are really getting old (except at the original PSU), especially black, it makes it look like the stadium is empty.
November 7th, 2008 at 4:34 pm
I’d say KFC.
November 7th, 2008 at 4:34 pm
spencer-obviously you haven’t been to White Castle. mmmmm White Castle…
November 7th, 2008 at 4:34 pm

/nttawwt
November 7th, 2008 at 4:35 pm
very introspective comment, benji.
all hockey games are whiteouts; specifically eastern european whiteouts.
November 7th, 2008 at 4:35 pm
You said it, not me.
November 7th, 2008 at 4:36 pm
church’s chicken isn’t even food. It’s just hot grease wrapped in flour…
November 7th, 2008 at 4:36 pm
hey, where’s tyduffy? i am sure he has been to Greene’s Hamburgers.
November 7th, 2008 at 4:36 pm
Oh and yes, yes, no, yes.
Utah < Utah
November 7th, 2008 at 4:38 pm
Roeth…you’re dead on with KFC, my mistake.
sparty…i fuckin love white castle. sliders rule. and just for the record, the harold and kumar movies make me embarassed to be a pothead so that has nothing to do with my pro-white castle feelings.
November 7th, 2008 at 4:39 pm
I think the best possible outcome for the national championship would be undefeated Alabama vs undefeated Texas Tech.
November 7th, 2008 at 4:40 pm
I’d fuck her, I’d fuck her, I’d fuck her, I’d fuck her.
/tampa bo’d
November 7th, 2008 at 4:41 pm

/psu vs. bama…psu wins
November 7th, 2008 at 4:41 pm
Yeeea…sportsgal stick to those puppies.
its gonna be Florida vs. Penn State
November 7th, 2008 at 4:41 pm
ah come on. you know you want a Big TelevEN team in there.
November 7th, 2008 at 4:42 pm
couldnt disagree with you more, white castle is awful
November 7th, 2008 at 4:43 pm
Bama isn’t going undefeated. LSU is gonna beat them this weekend SEC style and Florida is gonna beat them.
November 7th, 2008 at 4:44 pm
wrong, sg. florida vs. texas tech
November 7th, 2008 at 4:44 pm
as opposed to the Pac-10 brand of football LSU plays? technically isn’t every SEC win over another SEC team win beating the loser SEC style?
November 7th, 2008 at 4:45 pm
Miz you think Tech can beat OSU and OU…not a chance in hell buddy.
November 7th, 2008 at 4:45 pm
what would be the O/U on this game? 100.5? 110.5?
November 7th, 2008 at 4:45 pm
depends on how much speed is involed spencer
November 7th, 2008 at 4:49 pm
spencer if you are ever in Northern NJ, hit up White Mana in Hackensack. they make my favorite burgers.
November 7th, 2008 at 4:51 pm
the best possible outcome?
Notre Dame vs. Ohio State
/jk
November 7th, 2008 at 4:55 pm
What about Krystal Burger?
November 7th, 2008 at 4:56 pm
@bo – I don’t think it will actually happen; I just think it’s the best of the scenarios
November 7th, 2008 at 4:58 pm
A&M will hang with OU for a little while before OU puts it out of reach in the 2nd half. 42-31.
November 7th, 2008 at 5:13 pm
Tampa, I made that statement based on what I think would be the most exciting game. I’d like to see TX Tech’s offesnse against Alabama’s defense. It had nothing to do with what I think will end up happening. I don’t think Alabama is going to be LSU this weekend.
November 7th, 2008 at 5:21 pm
everyone has LSU beating Bama this weekend.
I’ll take Bama.
November 7th, 2008 at 11:25 pm
I just got an LSU/Alabama ticket for face value.
I’ll get on my broken record again for the last couple of weekends. If Jarrett Lee doesn’t make any stupid interceptions and LSU doesn’t give Bama easy chances to score, LSU can hang and maybe even win it.
Only problem is, lately, making a prediction like that about Jarrett Lee is like betting somebody that the sun won’t come up tomorrow.
