Well anyone who thought Texas Tech might come out a little foggy following their big win last week was certainly wrong. After stumbling on their opening drive with a fumble, Graham Harrell and company recovered quite nicely, making their case to be feared loud and clear, tearing up Oklahoma State 56-20.

Take away the aforementioned fumble and Harrell pretty much had a flawless evening, as he was 40-of-50 for 456 yards and six touchdowns. Damn.

The victory of course sets up an epic game in Norman two weeks from now that couldn’t come any sooner (sooner, get it?). I’m sure all the experts will be calling for their fun to end that weekend, but there’s something different about this Texas Tech team. I’m not sure exactly what it is, but Harrell has a special air about him. Big stage or small, he seems to always play with unabashed confidence and poise, and I have yet to see him throw a pass that wasn’t to the perfect spot when he absolutely needed to.

If you happened to catch him and Michael Crabtree with Lisa Salters after the game, you may have noticed how both of them came across so comfortable and relaxed, almost as if they’re not surprised by any of this. They weren’t overexcited or huffing into the microphone. Sure, they were happy, but they spoke like they’ve been through it before.

It was interesting, I’ll be shocked if they don’t go into Oklahoma and bring their best game.

Worth nothing that fellow Heisman hopefuls Colt McCoy and Tebow both had big days yesterday as well:

McCoy: 26-of-37 for 300 yards and five TDs (he did throw two picks though)
Tebow: Ran for three TDs and threw for two in the first half of that rout

A lot will certainly hinge of what Harrell does at Oklahoma, but right now he’s gotta be at the top of your list.

In case you’re wondering what happens if Oklahoma beats Texas Tech and there’s a three-way tie in the Big XII, Kirk Herbstreit was kind enough last night to weave through the confusion and clear it up for us when he said, “I don’t know what happens if that happens.”
