Notre Dame Alumni Must be Getting Restless
College Football November 9th. 2008, 3:50pm
Here we are again, Notre Dame looks like crap and fans of the Irish aren’t happy. They played their worst offensive game of the season last night against Boston College, losing 17-0 and really never showing any signs of hanging with the Eagles.
Any time they flashed the slightest glimpse of a drive that might actually end with points, Clausen threw a pick. He threw a total of four, one that went back for a touchdown.
Still, with all that they could be looking at a record of 6-3 today (which is much easier on the eyes) if they managed to finish off Pitt last week, but that one got away. The Irish are now 5-4, with three games to play. Two of those games should, I stress should, be wins for them as they face Navy next week and putrid Syracuse the week after. They end it at USC, so that’s a loss.
Say things turn out that way and they finish at 7-5. An improvement over last season’s debacle for sure, but this is Notre Dame.
Does Charlie and his fupa get one more shot with Clausen as a junior and some of their budding young talent a little more seasoned? Probably. Freshman receiver Michael Floyd and sophomore Golden Tate will both be memorable players for the Irish over the next couple years, particularly the impressive Floyd who has the size to be a true horse at his position.
If they happen to falter though against Syracuse or Navy (it’s painfully possible), Charlie is no doubt history and someone else gets the keys to see what they can do with some of this talent. Maybe that’s what they need.

Don’t feed the monster by giving it blog space. Much like the Cowboys, if you don’t talk about them, they’ll just fade away.

Can someone fill me in? Why is Weiss on a witness stand crying, like a contestant that just got caught snacking on The Biggest Loser?

It took 90 seconds for Carolina to take the lead in Oakland.

Isn’t there some kind of crazy “Notre Dame” clause where the Cotton Bowl can pick them over an SEC team?
/I’d love to see Harrell, McCoy, Bradford, or Daniel put a 70-spot on them

Oakland, that’s right. There IS a team in the NFL that makes me feel good being a Saints fan…

wide right

It took them 44 years to beat them. Two in a row might look fantastically shitty.

Considering that Navy has had like one NFL-caliber player since Roger Staubach, and they’re playing a team with an allegedly top-5 recruiting class every single year, it’s a wonder the streak isn’t longer.

Who’s quarterbacking the Chiefs this week? Steve Bono?
/whoever it is will probably have his career game against the Saints next week

No, we’ll beat the crap out of KC. Get our hopes up, and then get torched by the Packers a week later. Rinse, wash, repeat.
