Detroit 86, Phoenix 104: First, view the foul that got Shaq ejected. Now, his quote: “The law of physics states that a body in motion stays in motion. And if you have two objects that meet in the air, the smaller object is going to fall much harder at the same rate of speed it was going. I’ve never been the type of player to take anyone out. I was going for the ball.” Phoenix shot .569 from the field, and .571 from the foul line.

Miami 96, Toronto 107: Seven players scored in double figures, led by Bosh’s 27, and the Raptors dominated the glass (52-35) to win at home. D Wade scored 29 points on 31 shots. Calderon missed the game with a hammy issue; Clemson’s Will Solomon had 14 points and 11 assists in an Anthony Morrow-like performance.

Orlando 90, Charlotte 85: Despite more blocks (five) than points (four) from Dwight Howard, and nary a basket in 26-fouled plagued minutes, the Magic improved to 7-3.

Dallas 124, New York 114, OT: The Knicks were close to going 7-3 before collapsing at the end of regulation and then missing every shot it attempted in overtime. The Dallas run was 19-2 over the final seven minutes of the game. Zach Randolph had his eighth straight double-double, but he was outdone by Dirk’s 39-15 and Josh Howard’s 31-14.

Minnesota 84, Denver 90: The T-Wolves lost their eighth in a row to fall to 1-8, but the last four defeats have all come by six points or less. Two of their other losses are by three and four points. We continue to worry about former Florida star Corey Brewer, who didn’t start for the first time this season and still can’t shoot straight (38 percent). Then again, neither can rookie Kevin Love (38 percent).

Also worth nothing: Greg Oden had a good game Friday (11 points, 11 rebounds, four blocks) and another solid effort Saturday (13 points, eight rebounds, three blocks). This was a sweet dunk. This block was reminiscent of a young Shaq. Before you mock those totals, Oden hasn’t yet played 25 minutes in a game. He’s going to make a lot of knee-jerk clowns look silly.
