The One-Win Wonders
NBA November 19th. 2008, 6:30pm
We’ll be tuning in for at least the first half of Greg Oden against Joakim Noah, Ty Thomas and the Bulls tonight. Not sure Oden’s creaky knees can handle a big night after Tuesday’s 22-10 effort, so expectations are low. Taking a peek at the NBA standings three weeks into the season, four teams clearly stand out: the 1-win losers.
Minnesota and Oklahoma City are no surprise. Both are massive works in progress, and Chris Wilcox of the Thunder has missed five games due to injury (as if that lets them off the hook). Minnesota’s just terrible, and though it’s far too early for anyone to admit this, there’s probably some part of the front office that, based on first impressions, wishes OJ Mayo had been their guy, and not Kevin Love.
But the Clippers and Wizards? To an extent, Washington gets a pass because it is without two starters, Gilbert and Brenda. Which is why we thought they’d be bad, but not this bad. The Clips have an excuse for the first week – Marcus Camby was out. But since then? Baron Davis has no clue what he got himself into. Somewhere, Corey Maggette and Elton Brand are snickering. Here’s a hint, Dunleavy: MORE ERIC GORDON!
On the plus side, the Clippers play the Thunder tonight in a matchup featuring the two worst shooting teams in the league.

Chris Wright has 4 dunks in the first half. Just thought TBL would like to know.

Probably not. Love’s career > Mayo’s career

Is this the same TBL that blasted commenters for jumping all over Oden with too little of a sample size?

TBL is prepping for a slurp job. You know, just in case Oden explodes for 30-15 tonight.

This game is absolutely terrible. I have however, decided to order a Greg Oden jersey. He’s awesome and hilarious.
The Bulls are AWFUL.

As a Wiz fan, I am rooting for an epic failure this season. When Gil and Haywood come back, I hope we still suck. Since kids have to attend college now before being drafted, I would love to have the Wiz get a chance at someone in next year’s draft class. We have Gil and Jamison signed for the next few years. Caron will be next. And JaVale and Nick Young are promising. Getting a true PG or dominant NBA ready big man in next year’s draft would be sweet. Not to mention that MJ wouldn’t be drafting this time around…

The Bulls make me ashamed to be a Chicagoan during this time of year.. seems like all we’ve had recently is baseball season. oh.. and the Bears going to a Super Bowl that everyone knew they would lose, I don’t really count that.
