Vitale Can’t Believe Arizona Passed on Bob Knight
1-liner, College Basketball, ESPN, Media Gossip/Musings November 21st. 2008, 10:15amDick Vitale: “I was really shocked that Arizona didn’t go after Bob Knight,” Vitale said. “He would have been the ideal guy to have stepped in, and I firmly believe he would have accepted that role, taken that role until they hired another guy in the future.” No way. Knight would much rather look uncomfortable and unsure on the overcrowded ESPN Gameday panel. (LA Times)

Imagine that. Vitale slurping Robert Montgomery Knight. Just like Death and Taxes…

i love knight but good grief vitale, it’s time to get off your knees in front of him. had knight gone to arizona the players would have had a mutiny like what happened last year at knight’s old school.
if knight was coaching arizona the past few years, just how many of those players would have agreed to play for him?
look, arguable nobody knows more about hoops than knight. but his coachign style/technique is not unlike a marine drill instructor. does it work? of course. but how many people want to join the marines?

Don’t know. I haven’t immersed myself in hoops yet. Probably get to that soon as college football really slows down. I think his name is spelled Voskuhl or something like that.
