Ballin’: Greg Oden Need Beware of Ninjas
NBA November 23rd. 2008, 12:15pm
Suns 102, Blazers 92: Shaq grabbed 17 rebounds and scored 19 points, and summed up Greg Oden and his five points thusly, “I’m the shogun. And before you get to the shogun, you’ve got to go through a lot of ninjas. He has to go through Dwight Howard and Yao Ming and by that time, I’ll be out of here.€
Rockets 100, Magic 95: A night after swatting the Magic to victory, Dwight Howard enjoyed foul trouble and finished with just 13 points. Yao led the Rockets with 22 and teammates Tracy McGrady and Rafer Alston (love that name) each contributed 17 points.
Hornets 109, Thunder 97: Chris Paul scored 29 with 16 assists and 10 rebounds. He’s really good, especially considering he has two first names. The ever-steady David West dropped 33 on the Thunder.
Knicks 122, Wizards 117: Washington is off to their worst start since 1966, now at 1-10. Quentin Richardson made seven 3-pointers and finished with 34 points and 12 boards. Nate Robinson added 27 in a game the Knicks played with seven players. LeBron was a healthy scratch for the Knicks.
Cavs 110, Hawks 96: LeBron James scored 24 and added eight rebounds and seven assists while Mo Williams scored 23 and the 10-3 Cavs pushed Atlanta to 8-5, after starting 6-0.

Lebron only scored 24 points? What a lazy asshole. That dude needs to grow up.
November 23rd, 2008 at 12:53 pm
where’s Irish to defend D-Ho’s name after Yao pwn3d Superman … again?
November 23rd, 2008 at 12:59 pm
Why the fuck are Joe Buck and Troy Aikman covering a piece-of-shit Cowboys game instead of the Giants/Cardinals game?
And why is my local Fox affiliate making me watch it? Oh, I forgot. South Louisiana is apparently a suburb of Dallas.
November 23rd, 2008 at 12:59 pm
Shaq never ceases to creep me out. That pic did it.
November 23rd, 2008 at 1:00 pm
Because it’s 49er’s-Cowboys, Jay. It’s the league’s best rivalry…15 years ago.
November 23rd, 2008 at 1:02 pm
Jim Nantz says this is the biggest regular-season game the Titans have ever hosted? I beg to differ. Has to be the Monday nighter against the Colts a few weeks back. That was to pretty much win the division and take down their hated nemesis. Just because a New York team and Farve is involved doesn’t make it “bigger,” Jim.
November 23rd, 2008 at 1:03 pm
WTF, Hester is not playing kick return for the game!
November 23rd, 2008 at 1:03 pm
Nevermind, good return by Manning.
November 23rd, 2008 at 1:06 pm
Wow…the Titans signed Tyrone Poole? They must be hurting in their defensive backfield.
November 23rd, 2008 at 1:10 pm
heckuva nice opening drive so far by the jets and favre.
November 23rd, 2008 at 1:11 pm
td jets!
awesome 7-0 lead.
November 23rd, 2008 at 1:13 pm
TBL, are you going to watch whole game?
November 23rd, 2008 at 1:15 pm
Unless there’s an Office rerun on TBS.
November 23rd, 2008 at 1:15 pm
It made me very sad watching the pre-game when Casserly pointed out that Cassel is a free-agent after this year. No way we can re-sign him, and we’re not getting jack for him because we can’t trade him.
November 23rd, 2008 at 1:17 pm
the Titans signed Tyrone Poole? They must be hurting in their defensive backfield.
What surprises me is that the Saints didn’t look at him.
November 23rd, 2008 at 1:17 pm
Does Fox have a farm where they keep all the sideline reporters? It’s like I see somebody new every week.
November 23rd, 2008 at 1:17 pm
where’s cool rick to spice things up?
November 23rd, 2008 at 1:21 pm
Romo, they usually just bring in the local, third-string, weekend sports guy from the local Fox affiliate to cover their lower-tier games.
Fox is cheap.
I said it before, and I’ll say it again. Jack Del Rio is becoming the Tommy Bowden of the NFL.
November 23rd, 2008 at 1:22 pm
And Trent Green is in the game for the Rams. He gets sacked by Ogunleye.
November 23rd, 2008 at 1:24 pm
Detroit takes the lead on Tampa.
Oh boy. Another week of a Saints fan hoping for the impossible, only to see the Bucs pull it out their ass at the end of the game.
November 23rd, 2008 at 1:28 pm
Hester in a wildcat formation, why am I not surprised?
November 23rd, 2008 at 1:28 pm
Early on it certainly looks like the NFL’s going to dodge that 11-0 vs. 0-11 bullet.
November 23rd, 2008 at 1:30 pm
Damn it 12-Gage, I started you today so you can stay in bounds, not out of bounds
November 23rd, 2008 at 1:30 pm
Don’t worry. The Bucs will probably win the game when their game-winning field goal carems off of one of the Lions’ cheerleaders, bounces off the helmet of one of their defenders, and goes through the uprights.
November 23rd, 2008 at 1:32 pm
Kevin Walter: one of those guys you consider picking up every single week, but you just can’t do it because it doesn’t seem right. Then, on the week you could have used him, he lights it up.
November 23rd, 2008 at 1:33 pm
The Rams are a Torry Holt injury away from being a MAC team.
November 23rd, 2008 at 1:34 pm
Dick Stockton and Baldinger are turrrrrrible
November 23rd, 2008 at 1:35 pm
Derek Stanley with a nice return for the Rams.
November 23rd, 2008 at 1:35 pm
Well, looks like I was right last week when I said the Lions would win. They’re driving again already up 14-0.
Ugh, 2 freaking years in a row.
November 23rd, 2008 at 1:35 pm
God damn Dustin Keller is a weapon. I knew he’d be good as pro, just not this good this quickly. At least the Big 10 does something right, produce athletic, productive NFL tight ends.
November 23rd, 2008 at 1:37 pm
Harris whooped Green’s ass on that play.
November 23rd, 2008 at 1:38 pm
Does anyone else think Tyler Thigpen could be a good pro, or is he relegated for life to back-up status?
November 23rd, 2008 at 1:38 pm
Who’s the Rams’ third string QB? Spergon Wynn?
November 23rd, 2008 at 1:38 pm
Welker just got fucking lit up. Wow.
Sick catch by Moss earlier in the series.
November 23rd, 2008 at 1:41 pm
Jim Haslett needs to find his happy place.
November 23rd, 2008 at 1:41 pm
I think Tyler Thigpen could be another Jon Kitna. A marginal starter who can put up some pretty good numbers playing for some pretty bad teams.
November 23rd, 2008 at 1:41 pm
And the kick is good…no good!
Thanks Dick.
November 23rd, 2008 at 1:42 pm
Uh oh. Definite momentum swing in Jets-Titans.
November 23rd, 2008 at 1:43 pm
Screw Haslett. This is his punishment for not giving Jake Delhomme a chance in New Orleans and benching Aaron Brooks about four years too late.
November 23rd, 2008 at 1:43 pm
5 seconds late on the fumble call there Dick.
November 23rd, 2008 at 1:45 pm
Larry Johnson sighting.
November 23rd, 2008 at 1:45 pm
This is quarter #6 of the Romo Comeback Era, and the Cowboys still aren’t moving the football very well.
November 23rd, 2008 at 1:46 pm
Warrick Dunn scores. The inevitable Bucs comeback has begun.
November 23rd, 2008 at 1:47 pm
I didn’t start Romo today or last week. I have my concerns.
November 23rd, 2008 at 1:48 pm
Goddammit Favre.
November 23rd, 2008 at 1:48 pm
I’ve indefinitely benched T.O. in my keeper league for Dwayne Bowe.
INT titans
Minnesota has a 17-point first quarter, and Adrian Peterson touched the ball twice so far.
November 23rd, 2008 at 1:49 pm
And just as I say that. T.O. 75 yard TD
Thank God my opponent started Bulger.
November 23rd, 2008 at 1:50 pm
McNabb really is playing both himself and Reid out of Philly right now.
November 23rd, 2008 at 1:53 pm
Hells yeah, Lee Evans’ first catch in about six quarters.
November 23rd, 2008 at 1:53 pm
I hate picking fantasy kickers. Ryan Longwell has like 6 50-yard FGs this year, and he’s been on my bench for every single one. Oh, but I started him every week he didn’t kick one.
November 23rd, 2008 at 1:54 pm
I was psyched the Ravens-Eagles was the other 1:00 game I got to watch. That was at 12:30. That game is ugly.
November 23rd, 2008 at 1:55 pm
Fake punt fails and no luck on getting the pass interference call. Tis a great day for the Bears.
November 23rd, 2008 at 1:55 pm
Dustin Keller should just change his name to The Ultimate Safety Valve.
November 23rd, 2008 at 2:00 pm
Damn it, I missed a Forte touchdown run.
November 23rd, 2008 at 2:01 pm
I’m gonna like having Keller on my keeper league team. Especially considering that Tony Gonzalez is like 40. I just don’t hope his career nosedives after Brett Favre retires.
November 23rd, 2008 at 2:04 pm
Enjoy, guys. This slate is so unappealing to me that I’m going watch LSU play Northwestern State in college basketball. I love free tickets.
November 23rd, 2008 at 2:06 pm
I’d like to thank the rest of my fantasy league for letting me pickup Keller on waivers this week even though I was last in the waiver order and the only weakness on my team was tight end.
November 23rd, 2008 at 2:08 pm
Only the Vikings could score twice within the first two minutes and give it all back.
November 23rd, 2008 at 2:44 pm
@fitch –
Lions are doing a pretty good job of giving their lead back also.
