Ballin: Another Pistons Loss – Just Blame AI!
NBA November 24th. 2008, 11:00am
Minnesota 106, Detroit 80: Had to do a triple take this one, just we like did this weekend when we were in an eatery and Jim from the Office walked in. Did Randy Foye really have 14 assists? Did Minny really shoot 53 percent? If you think being a Seattle sports fan is bad, consider Michigan. This weekend alone, the auto industry didn’t get a bailout, Michigan and Michigan State were clobbered, and the Lions fell to 0-11. So when can we annex Michigan to Canada?
Boston 118, Toronto 103: The Celtics improved to 13-2 by shooting a blistering 61 percent from the field. Though its still early, one has to wonder: At what point will Jermaine and CB4 learn to play down low together? Do we wait for the second half? The playoffs? Next year?
Sacramento 103, LA Lakers 118: Eight of the nine players who saw action for the 11-1 Lakers scored in double figures. Trevor Ariza, who must be chomping at the bit to lockdown Paul Pierce in the NBA Finals, had 11 points and took 11 rebounds off the bench.
Golden State 81, Philadelphia 89: This is more like it – 22 points for Brand, 16 rebounds for Dalembert. Oh. Wait. Those numbers don’t count! Greg Oden tore the Warriors up last week, but everyone scoffed at the stats because the Warriors are so pathetic inside.
Chicago 101, Denver 114: They’re playing defense and closing games strong? Hmmm. Maybe Denver is turning the corner. Down three with five minutes to play, Denver tore off on a 13-0 run to improve to 9-5. Be patient, though, the implosion is coming: Carmelo’s stats (career-lows of 38 percent from the field, 19 points per game) are way down, and he’s a me-first guy. He’s like the Terrell Owens of the NBA.

November 24th, 2008 at 11:04 am
so am i the only one that thinks wade and lebron potentially ended up with the knicks is a good thing? miami doesnt deserve any sports franchises let alone a superstar, and i honestly dont ever see lebron winning a title with the players in cleveland; why not try and get a superstar roster going on a once proud franchise? maybe its because i dont have any hate for the knicks and dont really think the nba is that great in general, but its not like manny playing for cleveland and piazza’s stint in miami did great things for baseball

just for you TBL

no, you’re not, from a purely basketball POV it’d be fantastic.
from a cleveland fan’s POV, it’s catastrophic, a stab to the abdomen already softened by thousands of stomach punches.
November 24th, 2008 at 11:09 am
His rebounds are up 2.6 and assists up 1.4
November 24th, 2008 at 11:10 am
Biedrins leads the world in rebounding. And is shooting 55% from the floor.
November 24th, 2008 at 11:10 am
oh yeah i get that; how you feel now is probably how i felt when the penguins were on the verge of moving to kansas city.
i was just confused i got the feeling people were saying it was bad for basketball

is yao droppin the kids off at the pool in that pic or is he just celebrating in a sumo stance?
November 24th, 2008 at 11:13 am
Iverson is teh Awesome!!eleven!
November 24th, 2008 at 11:14 am
well, it kind of is. what incentive are mid-american fans going to have to tune into an urban game that’s just a hub for the big markets?
if it’s some known certainty that LBJ is leaving cleveland, why pay attention at all? what small market team without paul allen as an owner or chris paul has a chance at being relevant or hanging onto great players and building a team if it’s just a fact that these great players are heading to NY, LA, or chicago? it’s terrible for the game’s marketability outside of those three cities.
November 24th, 2008 at 11:15 am
the game isnt marketable outside the big cities as is
November 24th, 2008 at 11:16 am
touché
November 24th, 2008 at 11:18 am
almost forgot
Lebron James is the best player in the league
November 24th, 2008 at 11:18 am
i mean the ratings for cavs/spurs were god awful. for lakers/celtics they were markedly better. isnt the highest rated series lakers/pistons? i dont exactly see a pacers/hornets finals dominating the ratings
November 24th, 2008 at 11:21 am
Worst movie ever.
Has that guy made a single decent flick?
November 24th, 2008 at 11:22 am
moleman…oh, i agree with everything you’ve said, but im reacting emotionally. i could care less if a bunch of guido, fat fuck, spoiled bitch, entitled ass new yorkers get to see lebron because he’s ohio’s son and that means more.
so i guess what im saying is fuck david stern and his conspiracy bullshit, fuck jay-z and phil knight for butting in when they have no place to, and fuck new yorkers.
/totally off topic, but i really don’t care
November 24th, 2008 at 11:23 am
If the Cavs can get one more key player with Wallly’s expiring contract and everyone stays healthy, they will win the title this year. I am worried about the Lakers, but that’s it.
November 24th, 2008 at 11:25 am
i can agree with you on that one
i dont like new yorkers but for reason i dont care either way about the knicks
November 24th, 2008 at 11:27 am
I think they’ll stand pat with Wally. Just let his K expire.
I could see us picking up one of the bought-out veterans, though. A PJ Brown type move to shore up the front line.
November 24th, 2008 at 11:30 am
dogma was pretty good. And he played a crackhead to a tee in New Jack City, H8R. Beverly Hills Cop was good too. Of course, he wasn’t the star in any of those movies
November 24th, 2008 at 11:34 am
His crackhead was way overrated. Sam Jackson’s was better in Jungle Fever.
Eddie Murphy makes better movies now than Chris Rock did in his prime. He can’t carry Eddie’s jock.
November 24th, 2008 at 11:36 am
the pistons didn’t lose to the wolves…really, i didn’t happen.
November 24th, 2008 at 11:37 am
i=it
November 24th, 2008 at 11:37 am
sparty…yea, it happened. thank the pistons for saving everything they had for the cavs last week for me, will you?
November 24th, 2008 at 11:38 am
Cavs Suck
November 24th, 2008 at 11:40 am
sparty…at least they didn’t lose to minny.

Norbit > I’m Gonna Git You Sucka

Norbit – seriously underrated.

I can never get enough of Yao Ming owning Dwight Howard. Yao can’t jump and is still hurting, yet he destroyed Superman Saturday night.
November 24th, 2008 at 12:22 pm
TBL, annexing us Michiganders to Canada might be the best thing to happen to both parties in quite some time. The best things: MI gets curling facilities, which will improve anyone’s outlook on life, and the Canadians will finally have a Stanley Cup contender.
November 24th, 2008 at 12:29 pm
@grunge- horrible night for Howard. Foul trouble all night. If Orlando had Hedo playing(out with flu, they would have won the game. Artest was huge with three baskets in a row.
November 24th, 2008 at 12:35 pm
GYD – Just how fun is curling? I’m trying to get CRM to write about it. He’s like, a potential Olympian.
November 24th, 2008 at 12:37 pm
but he knows those #’s won’t get him to the All-Star game
and mind you, this is coming from a longtime SU fan.
November 24th, 2008 at 12:47 pm
I think curling is fun. Every time I have been, I’ve gotten blindingly drunk, but I remember it being a good time, although I tend to fall down a great deal. Also, one of my colleagues had his car stolen in Windsor while we were playing, which greatly added to the excitement.
November 24th, 2008 at 12:48 pm
how gully is windsor? damn. and here i thought canada was soft.
November 24th, 2008 at 1:04 pm
But it’ll help get more wins. Maybe he’s ok with that.
November 24th, 2008 at 1:09 pm
@ Irish: I didn’t catch the game on Saturday. Who was guarding Howard most of the game? A few highlights I saw Chuck Hayes and Carl Landry guarding him. Just wondering if he has a problem being guarded against smaller guys like Yao does.
November 24th, 2008 at 1:19 pm
@rocketsfan- Howard and Yao were matched up most of the game. Yao really hurt Howard early on and got him into foul trouble. Three fouls on Dwight in the first half and then Yao got Howard to commit another foul in the first minute of the second half.

What has Melo done to be considered a me-first guy? Cuz I remember him going to college for a year, where he helped lead his teammates to a championship. I also remember him playing on two Olympic teams and in the World Championships, representing his country, something that such great “team” guys like Shaq and KG fail to do. He’s only attempting 16 shots a game this year, a personal low. He’s also looked committed on the defensive end, a quality that no George Karl-coached team has ever exhibited. And his line last night (21-13-8) is exactly the type of line that people fawn over Lebron for.
