No Stopping the Giants
NFL November 23rd. 2008, 8:01pm
The Giants moved to 10-1 with a 37-29 win over the Cardinals, impressive given Arionza’s dominance at home. The Cardinals lost it at the 4:00 minute mark when Ralph Brown patiently waited for the onside kick to come give him a big, NFC West hug. Seriously, if you didn’t catch the game or that clip, Neil Rackers executed a perfect onsider and Brown didn’t charge the ball as he should have. Because of that, the Giants recovered and never looked back.
Kurt Warner threw for 300 yards for the 5th straight game and Eli Manning tied a season high with three touchdown passes and completed a sexy 26 of 33 passes.
The enigmatic Broncos took one on the chin at home as Oakland got a 31-10 victory, thanks in part to two Darren McFadden touchdown runs. In Seattle, the Redskins won by a field goal and in the NFC South, the Falcons got back on track with a 45-28 win over the Panthers.
Cue the talk of a potential New York/New York Subway Super Bowl in 5 … 4 … 3 … 2 … 1 …

I guess an “NJ Transit Super Bowl” isn’t very sexy.

TBL, are we going to get a post about a Jets dynasty soon? Sure they haven’t won a Super Bowl yet, but we all know they’re good for six in a row.

No Jacobs, no Plax, and yet, they dominate the Cards on the road. What more does this team have to do to prove they are the best TEAM out there?

Get rid of that pesky a next to the 1 in tbl’s power rankings

Until they beat my Browns in a regular season game, they’re nothing to me. Sorry.
November 23rd, 2008 at 11:07 pm
Nothing. Who’s doubting they are the best team in the league?

Great job by Norv Turner to give the Colts the win.
November 23rd, 2008 at 11:25 pm
Alright TBL, shut down the Charger bandwagon. Shut it on down.
November 23rd, 2008 at 11:26 pm
Yes, yes, the Colts win every game by luck and I fully expect TBL to say so tomorrow. But, to paraphrase John Madden, a win is a win is a win.

Bsanders – i only heard the chargers FG on the radio. i have no clue what happened in the final 90 seconds. i assume Indy won, based on your comment.
November 23rd, 2008 at 11:37 pm
question for norv – why didn’t you go for it on 4th and 1, and instead kick the FG?
November 23rd, 2008 at 11:41 pm
TBL – Manning drove the Colts down the field, Colts went for it on fourth and one, Adam V. hit a 51-yard FG with no time left for the win. Was a great game, and an awesome finish. Manning’s 35th career fourth-quarter comeback, by the way (I only know that because NBC showed the graphic, I’m not that big of a homer).

AFC would now be what? This?…
1. Tennessee
2. Pittsburgh
3. Jets
4. Denver*
5. Indianapolis
6. Baltimore/NE^
* Denver should be dropped to a six seed or left out altogether for losing to both KC and Oakland (IMO, of course)
^ I have no idea what the tie-breakers are between Baltimore and New England. Remaining schedules as follows:
Baltimore – @Cincy, Washington, Pittsburgh, @Dallas, Jacksonville
New England – Pittsburgh, @Seattle, @Oakland, Arizona, @Buffalo
Most likely Baltimore goes 10-6 (wins against Cincy, Wash, and Jax), same for the Pats (wins against Seattle, Oakland, and Buffalo)
After that, I give up. I’m guessing if the Pats beat Pittsburgh, they’ll have a leg up on the sixth seed.

I’d rather listen to ESPN discuss how USC deserves to play for the national championship than have to listen to their all-New York Super Bowl hype.
November 24th, 2008 at 7:09 am
Hell. I’d even rather watch a SportsCenter dedicated to the Charlie Weis era at Notre Dame over that.
November 24th, 2008 at 7:10 am
But hey, I’m sure ESPN will tell us that a Jets/Giants Super Bowl would be “good for football.”

It’s like Christmas season starting in October…there’s no reason to discuss this unless both teams make their respective conference’s Championship games.
