Consider Last Night’s College Hoops an Appetizer
College Basketball, Video November 26th. 2008, 9:00amWe’re a bit sluggish today because we were up way past our bedtime, watching Syracuse junk its famed 2-3 zone defense in favor of an oppressive man-to-man, and the result was rallying from a 13-point deficit to force overtime on this clutch triple by Jonny Flynn. Syracuse rolled in OT to register a surprising win over new-look Kansas, 89-81. Dick Vitale refused to believe the ‘Cuse are the 8th best team in the Big East after knocking off the 2nd best team in the SEC (Florida) and the best or second best in the Big 12 (Kansas).
Notre Dame 81, Texas 80: In a tight, thrilling game, the Irish clanged many a free throw in the final two minutes, which gave Texas hope, but AJ Abrams’ could only draw front iron on a 55-foot shot at the buzzer. This sets up a Notre Dame vs. UNC final tonight, which will be the first test for the No. 1 Heels, who spanked Oregon 98-69. Harangody vs. Hansbrough! Last night we were excited about the prospect of Jackson vs. Lawson at the point, but what figures to be more of a matchup to watch is who from the Irish draws Danny Green, who is shooting 60 percent from the field and 52 from three, and leads UNC at 15 ppg. Ryan Ayers, you ready?
Why we love Raft: “Mason, jar-in ‘em!”
Davidson 78, Loyola (MD) 48: This is strange because Steph Curry, averaging 35 coming in, didn’t score. Loyola elected to put two men on Curry all night, and defend the rest of the team with three players. As you can see from the final score, it didn’t work. Curry went 0-for-3 in 32 minutes and his average dipped to 29 ppg. “It was the weirdest thing ever,” Curry said.

Pac-10 teams, wanting to run with UNC. Yeah, that’ll work. That was a fun little massacre to watch for about 10 minutes.

Does ND have a chance against UNC? still haven’t seen a line on the game.
eager for UAB-Oklahoma, too.

Does ND have a chance against UNC?
No! They are better without Hansborough.

Green is and will always be the key for UNC. With T, Lawson, and Ellington, most college basketball teams can only guard 3 studs. Add Green to the mix and teams can’t defend 4 players with that ability. If he’s hot like this again, then no shot. If he cools down and gets his 10 then yeah, they’ve got a shot. Hansbrough has to be dogging a little tonight. The guy hasn’t done much lately. With the beating he takes he’s got to be running on fumes around 15-10 to go in the 2nd half. His free throw attempts could be a little off and thats when it goes downhill. With all of that being said…No chance.

Tampa – Psycho T played last night, and is expected to play well again. i like green heading into last season – been my favorite player on the team. tough matchup because he’s an inside-outside 6-7 guy with insane hops. he’ll post up guards and blow-by bigs.

in my humble opinion, Hansbrough didn’t get punched in the face enough last night.

Well done, sir.
I would normally say that ND has a shot against any team, simply because they are capable on any night of shooting 60% from behind the arc.
But UNC is so athletic, they can defend the perimeter better than anyone in the country if they play hard.

TBL- Green is the fucking man. I wish Hansborough would just go away and let these guys win a title for him.

This years Tar Heels > 2005 Tar Heels

Green probably equates to the best nba player in my opinion on this team. There is Lawson, but he’s going to need to learn how to shoot.

not defensively
that team was carried by its defense in the tourney

Mole- I like these guys more than that team. Just the pampas attitude that they had made me sick and I hate Rashad Mccants. I still think Roy Williams is a fraud I hope this year he can prove me wrong.

ah, gotcha.
doherty recruited some douchebags but man oh man they were some talented douchebags
November 26th, 2008 at 10:01 am
I don’t think North Carolina ever does any real “recruiting” I mean its fucking North Carolina the program that groomed Michael Jordan its the equivalent of USC in football. Its just a question of who do they want to let in.
November 26th, 2008 at 10:27 am
No chance in hell. I may put some moolah on UNC.
November 26th, 2008 at 10:33 am
Jonny Flynn is the real deal.
November 26th, 2008 at 10:37 am
nd has a chance
i dont know if thats true but im going to lord that statement over you overconfident people if they win
November 26th, 2008 at 10:42 am
Onions!!
November 26th, 2008 at 10:44 am
ND has no chance because on EVERY missed 3 they hoist up, the Heels will be going balls to the wall in the other direction for fast break points all night. Nobody on ND can rebound or keep up with UNC’s speed and depth.
