Top Shelf: It’s Hockey Fight Week!
NHL December 2nd. 2008, 12:00pm
Lee Diekemper on the night in the NHL. This week in photos: Random hockey fights.
Red Wings 2, Ducks 1: While Marian Hossa will get the kudos for his game-winner early in the third, the Wings beat the Ducks playing Anaheim’s game: The Wings’ defense held the Ducks to just 16 shots.
Avalanche 6, Wild 5: A three-goal lead was too much for the Wild to overcome. Paul Stastny’s two second period goals put the game out of reach. Al Franken was so depressed over the loss, he bought Norm Coleman a beer.
Predators 2, Sabres 0: J.P. Dumont had an offensive outburst with a third period assist and a goal in slightly over two minutes to end the Sabres’ hopes. In a strange way to cope with the loss afterwards, Sabres goalie Ryan Miller was seen making snow angels in the HSBC Arena parking lot.
Blue Jackets 3, Canucks 2: Rick Nash set up two of the Jackets goals. Unbeknownst to Jim Tressel, Terrelle Pryor suited up for the Jackets under an alias.

The goalie should really watch out

And the Canucks lost another goalie last night. I hope he’s not out for long…

When is Luongo coming back? Looks like Sanford is going to be out a couple games.
December 2nd, 2008 at 12:53 pm
yeah, like the pens wouldn’t take an 18-year old with his skills.
December 2nd, 2008 at 12:56 pm
sure they would. to trade him for a winger.
December 2nd, 2008 at 12:57 pm
stamkos is the new daigle
December 2nd, 2008 at 1:00 pm
LOL time will tell.
i remember when lecavlier was young. his owner compared him to mario which was crazy. vinny sucked out loud for years. all of a sudden he gets decent players around him (and a decent coach) and voila. he’s a stud.
i too was guily of calling him a selfish turd. man, was i wrong.
December 2nd, 2008 at 1:03 pm
problem is tampa wont be able to put good players around stamkos because all the contracts theyre giving out are fucking horrendous and are going to hold the roster back for years. not to mention they keep trading away drafts picks.
what the hell is up with little marty? the one year i get him on my fantasy team and hes having the year from hell
December 2nd, 2008 at 1:06 pm
and im kidding about daigle. daigle had a better first year. OHHHHH!
god i hated that guy. when the penguins picked him up thats when you knew it was going badly. well that and they sucked anyways.
December 2nd, 2008 at 1:11 pm
new owners are nothing more than drunk fantasy league players.
December 2nd, 2008 at 1:11 pm
It doesn’t matter what the Penguins do, they’ll still lose to a superior Western Conference team in the finals.
December 2nd, 2008 at 1:13 pm
yeah they will lose to the sharks this year
December 2nd, 2008 at 1:19 pm
Or the Wings, or the Ducks or the Flames. And that’s only if they make it past the Bruins or the Rangers.
December 2nd, 2008 at 1:25 pm
mole – You’ve hit the nail on why I want to see the Wild trade Gaborik for St. Louis.
December 2nd, 2008 at 2:10 pm
the only teams i dont think the penguins right now couldnt beat from the west in a seven game series are the sharks, wings, and wild.
granted the penguins right now dont have either of their top blueliners or their goalie. so.
December 2nd, 2008 at 2:11 pm
*dont think they could beat
