Only 4 1/2 Weeks Until UF-Oklahoma!
College Football December 8th. 2008, 4:45pm
You’ve got eons – 32 days, precisely – to analyze all things Florida and Oklahoma. It almost feels like one of those college days where there’s a massive night game under the lights … and you start drinking at 8 am. Pace yourself, people.
Or favorite stat, barely over Oklahoma being the highest scoring college football team, ever: Meyer (5-1 in bowl games) vs. Stoops (4-5). Harvin will be back, the Gators will eat clock with their cadre of backs, and Sam Bradford won’t turn into Jason White, but his room for error will shrink to what it was against Texas. Our first stab at the score: Florida 34, Oklahoma 27.

December 8th, 2008 at 4:52 pm
Go Bucks!! Hope everyone else enjoys getting a shot this year, we thought it was getting unfair!
December 8th, 2008 at 4:54 pm
Did the Bucks really have a shot?
/sorry couldn’t resist

I keep going back and forth on this. I just don’t see how Oklahoma can be held under 30, and I think their defense is better than they’ve let on. But…has OU played a team with Florida’s speed on both sides of the ball? Texas would be comparable, and that didn’t turn out so well. And outside of the Oklahoma schools, nobody in the Big 12 really runs the ball that well. (Ok St had 200 yds rushing vs. OU).
I don’t know, I’ll say Oklahoma 35, Florida 31.

He still didn’t score on that play.

Anyone have a picture of the banner that flew over Arrowhead Saturday?
“Welcome to the we lost to Texas .com bowl”

this isn’t the official one. just a “4 1/2 weeks to go” one.
December 8th, 2008 at 5:01 pm
Florida, 40-23
December 8th, 2008 at 5:01 pm
Will wait for official pick’em.
That said, even if the over is 75, I’d take it. This game screams 41-38.
December 8th, 2008 at 5:02 pm
with that much time to prepare crazy things seem to happen. i don’t see ou getting slowed down. off the subject, i thought army’s uniforms were cool.
December 8th, 2008 at 5:02 pm
Scratch that. 41-23. Still Florida.
December 8th, 2008 at 5:03 pm
The Gators are eatin what now?
December 8th, 2008 at 5:06 pm
I think this is going to be a shootout. Florida hasn’t played an offense like Oklahoma’s and Oklahoma hasn’t played a more talented team than Florida. Being an SEC fan, I would pick Florida, but I can’t help but think OU might get it done. Keep in mind, UGA moved the ball at will on Florida but couldn’t handle the red zone, in the first half. Oklahoma’s offense is a lot more explosive than UGA’s, so I expect they will move the ball freely. It will depend on OU’s defense stopping Teblow and Co.

if Florida beats OK, but Bama loses to Utah, will we hear more or less about how great the SEC is?
December 8th, 2008 at 5:09 pm
/chomp chomp
couldnt resist, still at work and a little loopy

What do you mean IF? Regardless of any outcome, you’ll hear it from SEC honks.
For the sake of the nation, pray that Florida and Bama both lose. You’ll never hear the end of the SEC backers if both win.

So the Big 10 is underdogs in all 7 games. If they go 0-7, does that mean the Big 10 is horrendous, or shouldn’t people realize that the matchups weren’t in their favor?
December 8th, 2008 at 5:31 pm
Look, I am a SEC supporter but, quite frankly, if it isn’t Georgia playing for the title, or what not, then I don’t give a shit. It’s nice to say that your conference has had the last two National Champs and possibly about to have a third straight but not when it is at your teams expense. That being said, the chance of Bama losing is slim and it’s a toss up between Florida and OU.
December 8th, 2008 at 5:33 pm
0-7 would point to the Big 10 as being pretty damn horrendous. Seriously…0-7 would make the Big 10 the laughingstock of the country, not matter how bad the matchups were. But hey, you’re still getting 2 BCS checks, so Delaney will be laughing all the way to the bank.
December 8th, 2008 at 5:33 pm
Its all OSU’s fault cursed, they get the bcs bid they shouldn’t get and it bumps everyone else up a spot. The B10 is better this year, but still not great, OSU/UGA, MSU/SCaronlina, Iowa/Kansas… would be much better.
A PSU win would heal all.
December 8th, 2008 at 5:33 pm
no one cares about matchups. Win the games. You have 4 weeks to prepare.
December 8th, 2008 at 5:45 pm
Big 12 could go 7-0
OU over UF
UT over TOSU
TT over Ole Miss
OSU over UO
MU over Northwestern
KU over Minny
Neb over Clemson
More likely though that OU and Neb lose and it goes 5-2
December 8th, 2008 at 5:51 pm
Ole Miss and Oregon are going to give Texas Tech and Oklahoma state a run. wouldn’t be shocked if either of those teams win.
December 8th, 2008 at 5:52 pm
Not happening.
December 8th, 2008 at 5:52 pm
Why? Let’s match up Vandy vs Penn State, Tennesee vs Michigan State, South Carolina vs Iowa and Georgia vs Ohio State. If the Big 10 won all those games, would the SEC be horrible, or would people bitch about the matchups. (Oh yeah, two of those games are played in Ohio, another one in Pennsylvania).
December 8th, 2008 at 5:54 pm
Fixed for obvious inequity!
December 8th, 2008 at 5:55 pm
Big Ten teams are at a disadvantage because they will be playing in warm weather locales? Interesting theory.
December 8th, 2008 at 5:57 pm
Oregon is perfect for OSU, they had a bad defense in the Pathetic – 10 this year.
December 8th, 2008 at 5:58 pm
I’m seeing 4-3
December 8th, 2008 at 6:03 pm
So what you’re saying is, it’ll be just like a Big 12 game?
December 8th, 2008 at 6:08 pm
I guess Big Ten is underdog in every game, but I can see a PSU win (homer), OSU (best D Texas has faced, but kinda wishful thinking), MSU over Georgia and Iowa over South Cackalackie.
December 8th, 2008 at 6:10 pm
The only bowls should be the 10 Pac-10 teams playing eachother because that’s the only conference that matters.
/sincere
December 8th, 2008 at 6:45 pm
The one thing about bowl games that pisses me off more than anything is when people cite conference bowl records as evidence of which league is better. If one conference plays 6 shitty teams and goes 5-1 I don’t think that proves anything. Also, bowl games are nothing like regular games as you have a month to prepare and many of your top players have the NFL on their minds and are playing not to get hurt. Add to that the fact that most bowl games are completely useless and the won-loss records shouldn’t mean anything.
December 8th, 2008 at 11:04 pm
The Big 10 is not an underdog in every game…Iowa is a 3 pt fav over SC.
