Rumble in the OB Question: Where Was Luther Campbell?

Much to the chagrin of college football fans in South Florida, Lamar Thomas is out of a job today after making quite possibly the dumbest (but funniest) on-air comments in the history of college football. His rant during the Miami-FIU melee trumps anything Brent Musburger has ever uttered in the broadcast booth. On the off chance you haven’t yet been graced by Lamar’s brilliant and insightful commentary, the Choke Artist has it:
“Now, that’s what I’m talking about,” Thomas said as the brawl raged out of control. “You come into our house, you should get your behind kicked. You don’t come into the OB playing that stuff. You’re across the ocean over there. You’re across the city. You can’t come over to our place talking noise like that. You’ll get your butt beat. I was about to go down the elevator to get in that thing…I say, why don’t they just meet outside in the tunnel after the ball game and get it on some more? You don’t come into the OB, baby,” Thomas said. “We’ve had a down couple years but you don’t come in here talking smack. Not in our house.”
Our advice to Lamar: When the fight broke out and your pager blew up, you should have excused yourself from the broadcast booth, and joined Luther Campbell (nee Luke of 2 Live Crew) and Albert Haynesworth in the elevator down to the field. That chump on FIU swinging his crutch? You guys would have wrecked him. (What, surprised we referenced Haynesworth because he went to Tennessee? This much we’re certain of: When Luther Campbell sees a professional athlete stomp on the head of a defenseless professional athlete, he pounces. You know they’ve been running together for weeks.)
One wonders – has Lamar gone soft in his announcing days? This was the Canes third fight in their last seven games and as far as we know, Lamar wasn’t involved in any of them. That’s weak. Ray Lewis and Michael Irvin may never let you on that sideline again.

the funny/amazing thing is that thomas never uttered a curse word. he was saying the most unprofessional things but he was doing it in a professional manner. i am most surprised about this.
