Michael Strahan Spews Rage, Hot Dog, at ESPN Reporter
Uncategorized November 30th. 2006, 4:04pm
Yes, we’ve got the Michael Strahan video. It’s right here. But we were so compelled by this New York Times photograph of Michael Strahan berating ESPN reporter Kelly Naqi
, that we went with it instead of the video. On to the droll NY tabloid headlines:
New York Daily News: Dope Opera
New York Post: Big Blue Bully
Here’s the radio interview that started it all. Strahan didn’t mince words when pinning the blame of the terrible loss to the Titans on receiver Plaxico Burress – “he gave up, he can quit … you’re not quitting on yourself, you’re quitting on us … we work too hard to have that type of stuff happen.”
By now, you know what happens next: ESPN’s Naqi asks Strahan about the comments, the gap-toothed defensive end is dodgy – big mean bully only answers questions on Thursdays – but finally explodes whilst devouring a hot dog.
“I don’t kill my teammates, I’m a man!” Strahan yelled. The rest will be immortalized in You Tube history – but not in the same solar system as Ryan Leaf’s epic rant.
Poor Plaxico, the talented yet lazy receiver who actually comes out of this debacle smelling like roses.
“I don’t criticize teams, I don’t call out names, I don’t get into that,” a dour Plax said. “I wouldn’t go on TV or radio and criticize teammates.” He appeared to be a question or two from crying.
The Giants? Everyone wants to say they’re fucked, the season is over, blow up the team, trade Shockey, bye-bye Barber, Eli is a bust, etc … but the sad thing is, these are the same yahoos who were saying the opposite a few weeks ago when the Giants rattled off five straight victories. Gotta love the knee-jerk media.
The schedule isn’t forgiving – after Dallas, the Giants have to travel to Carolina (same team that drilled them in the playoffs last year), and assuming New York is 6-7 after those two, then our preseason prediction of no playoffs will likely come to fruition.
Biggest loser in all this? Tom Coughlin. He’s cooked after this season. Lost his team weeks ago.
Media’s Fault? Awwww Shut Up (Star-Ledger)
Mouthin Off (NY Post)

Michael Strahan Destroys ESPN and WFAN (Giants 101)
[Update: Well, not really. But a reader sent in this link to ESPN defending its reporter. We thought she kept her composure well in the face of 300-pound hot dog-spewing freak.]

I find it funny how ESPN blows this thing out, mainly because it was their reporter. Where’s the same coverage of crack-head Michael Irvin? Oh … wait.

I thought the reporter showed some balls (LOL) at hanging in there to reiterate the question. She was intimidated by Staham, and shown up in front of her collegues. That’s tough.

It’s funny if you go to the ESPN story on it, because Plaxico says they hadn’t talked about it, and Strahan said they had. The question was perfectly legit and not at skewed negative. Strahan just realized that he fucked up and decided to take it out on the media. Point for Naqi.
