No. 7 Pittsburgh 53, Louisville 66: We’ve been telling you all season not to believe the hype, and this should cement it. A home loss to a decent-at-best Cardinals team. Pittsburgh can’t shoot straight (3-for-21 on three’s), Aaron Gray is overrated, and this year’s first-round loss will sting more than the one to Bradley last year.

No. 17 Oklahoma St. 54, Texas 83: Looks like we’re one win away from seeing Kevin Durant in the NCAA tournament, which is outstanding news. We can see the Longhorns being a dangerous No. 7 seed, and taking down an overrated No. 2 seed in the second round like … Pittsburgh. Even a team like Wisconsin should fear the Longhorns. Durant had 21-12 and fellow frosh DJ Augustin had 19 points and eight assists. The Cowboys don’t have a quality out-of-state victory.

No. 22 Georgetown 71, West Virginia 53: When it wants to, Georgetown can play some stifling defense and run a precise offense (57 % shooting). Here’s the key to their March potential – are the guards good enough? We know Hibbert and Green will produce, but what about ball handling? Three-point shooting? We’re still not so sure.

Santa Clara 84, Gonzaga 73: Damn you, Zags. More specifically, damn you and your shrooms, Heytvelt. Gonzaga lost for the first time in 50 games at home, and got swept this season by lost to Steve Nash’s old school. Minus their best low-post threat, the Zags were forced to jack 30 three-pointers. At 18-9 and with no shot at winning the WCC, Gonzaga’s going to need at least 22/23 wins to get into the NCAA tourney. Anything less than the finals of the WCC tourney could be detrimental to NCAA hopes.

Denver Nuggets 123, Golden St. Warriors 111: Bad news for Don Nelson – not only couldn’t his offense stop the Iverson-less Nuggets, but Baron Davis had surgery on his knee and probably is done for the season. Kiss any playoff chances they had goodbye. The Warriors hit 53 percent of their shots, but were destroyed on the glass (Denver had 22 offensive rebounds). Carmelo Anthony and JR Smith had 28 apiece for the Nuggets.

Utah Jazz 102, Atlanta Hawks 76: The Jazz put six players in double figures and made 32-of-36 free throws in the rout. Rookie Paul Millsap had 13 points and nine rebounds for Utah, which hasn’t looked awful since losing Carlos Boozer. Atlanta was never in this one and was led by Marvin Williams, the forward from UNC who had 15 points.
