In the same way we recap the five best games from the previous night in the NBA, we’ll attempt to do the same in MLB. We have no idea if Yardwork is taken or patented, but if it is, darn. It’s all we could come up with on a little sleep. The point is, if you stop here around 10 a.m. every morning, you can get a quick rundown of the best baseball action from the night before.

Kansas City 7, Boston 1: Without question, the most popular baseball blog this season will be Curt Schilling’s 38 Pitches, where he will floor us with candor. Witnesss: ‘Not sure where to even start. Two words sum it up best, no command.’ Prediction – at some point this season, Schilling will write something that creates a national controversy, and he’ll be forced to abandon the blog, post less, or hide it behind a pay wall of sorts.

Pittsburgh 4, Houston 2: It’s still early in the morning in Houston, so we don’t have any confirmed suicides after Brad Lidge opened the season by blowing a save in the 9th. Gave up a dong to Xavier Nady, and then brushed it off after the game by saying, ‘It’s not a nightmare … I feel confident.’ Oh really?

Seattle 4, Oakland 0: This is why baseball blogs rule – after Felix Hernandez thoroughly dominated the A’s, holding them to three hits while striking out 12, one site went as far to ask, Johan Who? Will this humor still be there in July when the Mariners are 15 games out and Ichiro has put his Seattle digs up for sale? Assuming he has a Seattle house, of course.

Yankees 9, Devil Rays 5: Three errors, a below-average pitching performance by Carl Pavano, and Johnny Damon leaves with an injury, and fans are still pleased? Shocking optimism in the Bronx. A-Rod homered.

Cleveland 12, Chicago 5: We’ll do our best to keep fantasy talk out of Yardwork, but our tip for the day – pick up anybody from the Indians offense (yes, even Trot Nixon). They battered Jose Contreras into submission, forcing some to call not for his head, but for his goatee. If you look at the footage, the White Sox probably would have done better with the Mayor of Cincinnati on the mound.
