Ballin’: Nine Days to the Playoffs
Uncategorized April 9th. 2007, 3:43pmCharlotte 111, Miami 103, OT: Our favorite player in the league, Dwyane Wade, returned for the first time in six weeks and had 12 points and six turnovers in 26 minutes. The Bobcats mind-boggling recent string of victories may be pushing them out of Corey Brewer territory, and into someone like Nick Young, which isn’t a bad thing. The above video? Don’t ask. Just random.
Suns 115, Lakers 107: Finally, someone else picks up on a drum we’ve been beating for weeks – the Lakers haven’t beaten a winning team since late February. Ronny Turiaf did have 19 points and 15 rebounds for the Lakers. Much respect to Raja Bell for sinking 6-of-6 three-pointers, and not scrapping with Kobe.
Toronto 103, Chicago 89: Morris Peterson clotheslined Kirk Hinrich, got ejected, and yet somehow the Raptors still won. Anthony Parker, the guy getting crossed up in the video above, scored a career-high 27 points. Two notable injury updates: Andrea Bargnani, probably the ROY runner-up, may be back Friday for the Raptors, far earlier than expected, and Andres Nocioni returned to the Bulls after missing 28 games with pesky foot problems.
Detroit 87, Cleveland 82: Didn’t see the game, just know what we’ve read, but have the Pistons employed the LeBron rules? How’d he only take 16 shots and score 20 points? Billups had 14 points and 12 assists, and Detroit reminded the young kids – next year, Cavs – who still rules the East (though we’re taking a gamble on the Bulls to come out of the East).
Sacramento 106, Houston 112: Our Rockets – we’re adopting them as our darkhorse to reach the NBA finals – got a 40-point performance from Tracy McGrady in a nice come-from-behind victory. Here’s what still puzzling: Rafer Alston took 10 shots, which was two more than foul-plagued Yao Ming. Will JVG kill himself when Alston shoots this team out of the playoffs?

I would rather the Cavs tank down to 6 than stay at 5 and have to play the heat. I can’t wait for a full season of Sasha, Hughes, Bron, Drew and Andy starting together.
