Yardwork: Verlander.

Detroit 4, Milwaukee 0: We’re not sure how this works, but within about six minutes of Justin Verlander’s first career no-hitter, his wikipedia had been updated. He had filthy stuff in decimating Milwaukee’s bats striking out 12 and bringing 99 mph heat in the 8th inning. Good reads can be found here, here and here.
Phillies 7, White Sox 3: Let Ozzie Watch begin! Officially. We’ve been talking about it for a minute, but now that Chicago is seven games under .500, let’s monitor this. Cole Hammels gave up two early homers, but was lights out of the rest of the way to improve to 9-2.
Yankees 4, Diamondbacks 1: Bobby Abreu hit a three-run homer, leading the Yanks to their 7th straight victory, and 10th in 12 games. Wang was outstanding and Brandon Webb was only just good.
Mariners 5, Cubs 3, 13 innings: Shhhhh. Don’t tell the Angels, but Seattle has won five straight and is within three games of Anaheim in the AL West.
Washington 7, Baltimore 4: In the battle of DC-area franchises going nowhere, Daniel Cabrera – oh the potential – crapped himself (again) and the Nationals hit three homers.

99 mph is great and all, but nowhere near the 102mph fastball he threw in the ninth.

It’ll be a few more years before Ozzie watch begins. Reinsdorf and Kenny Williams love Ozzie too much. They also don’t want have to pay him unless he is managing. The guy on the plank is batting coach Greg Walker. One thing is for the minor league call-ups and bench players to not hit, but for the 3-4-5 mainstay of last year that to not hit is another. The team lead the majors last year in HR’s, and are dead last. Not to mention the philosophy of going with young power arms out of the bullpen has cost them plenty of games.

Who was the smoking hot chick that was on the field hugging Verlander after the no-hitter? that’s what we all need to know.

came we trade Daniel Cabrera for Mark Teixiera yet?

Verlander was just nasty last night. It was fun to watch him absolutely befuddle the Brew Crew. Only bad part was three walks to Bill Hall, who usually doesn’t walk three times a month.
Can’t fire Ozzie. Where will the quotes come from?
Any indigestion in the Red Sox Nation?

Apparently only one team in NY can play well at a time, cause since the Yanks got hot the Mets turned ice cold.
The back-to-back-to-back homers capped off by Kuo’s bat flip was quite hilarious.

Hot chick on the field with Verlander after the game was his girlfriend. He spoke after the game about how great it was for her to be there. It was great for us, because we got to see her!
Please, no more links to Drew Sharpe’s columns. I have no idea why every media person outside of Metro Detroit calls on this guy for input on Detroit sports scene. He was on Baseball Tonight last night and they were asking him questions like he is a beat writer or has in depth knowledge of the Tigers and Verlander. He doesn’t. He is a boob and I truly despise him.

No commentary on the Kelly Pickler (sp?) guest interview after she “sang” Take Me Out to the Ballgame at the Cubs game? For shame! Hopefully there is a transcript of that…somewhere.
You know the interview is going to be interesting when the singer screws up the words.

Drew Sharp is an idiot, even when he says something smart, if that makes sense. His shtick is to be as negative as possible. I remember when he said MSU had no balls, and they’d never go anywhere-right before they went to the final four. What an idiot.
