Yardwork: Fight and a Finish
Uncategorized June 18th. 2007, 12:51pmBecause we had to open with Saturday’s latest Cubs fracas. One thing we haven’t seen discussed is crazy Carlos Zambrano taking off his belt in the middle of the fight. Endless possibilities there.
Minnesota 10, Milwaukee 9: Awesome finish for the Twins, who squandered leads of 5-0 and 9-2, but prevailed on Justin Morneau’s walk-off homer. In the top of the ninth, 262-lb Prince Fielder parlayed a misplayed fly ball into an inside-the-park homer, setting the MLB record for heaviest player to record such a feat.
Houston 10, Seattle 3: Seattle went into Houston and was sweept in three games that weren’t remotely close. First baseman Mike Lamb will be the hot waiver-wire fantasy pickup Monday – he went 8-for-11 with two homers and eight RBI in the series.
Philadelphia 4, Detroit 7: Twenty-four hits between the clubs and not one homer? Justin Verlander followed-up his no-no by scattering seven hits in six innings and getting the W.
Boston 9, San Francisco 5: Barry Bonds hit No. 748th homer and needs just seven to tie Hank Aaron’s legendary mark.
Cleveland 5, Atlanta 2: Take your pick for biggest pitching surprise in the AL this season – Tampa’s James Shields (6-1, 3.30 ERA) or Fausto Carmona of the Tribe, who improved to 8-2 and lowered his ERA to 3.12 with another strong performance.

They said on the WWL Zambrano was in the clubhouse changing his jersey. Though no explanation was given for what was wrong with the one he had on. My guess would be that he seen what was happening on the TV in the clubhouse and decided I’d be nice to hit someone who was not on his team, for once.

Zambrano actually came out of the dugout with this pants around his ankles at first. He could have been pinching a loaf in between innings. But when he got out to the pile, it looked like a bowling ball steamrolling the pins.

Maybe Zambrano was listening to the “Hustle and Flow” soundtrack in the clubhouse and got a little too hype off the “Whoop That Trick” lyrics.

Was Zambrano the guy at the bottom of the pile up? I couldn’t tell what cubs player was down there…

He was changing the shirt under his jersey in the clubhouse. He had already sweat through the first one. It’s not too uncommon for fat players with high blood pressure levels to do so.
