Barry Bonds didn’t homer over the weekend, and remains stuck on 753. The record is 755. Just to cream and clear something up … yes, we abhor the fact that Bonds is about to break and quite possibly shatter a hallowed MLB record. Would we shell out a dime to see him at the ballpark? On principal, hell no. But to blog about it from the sofa? Sure. That can be fun. Plus, there have been so many cheaters in baseball over the last decade that other records (say, most homers in a season) have been cheapened, so why should this outrage us? If Bud were making this a public vote, and we could all decide to strip away McGwire’s 73 homers and anything Bonds has done since turning into the Incredible Hulk, yes, we’d vote against both. But that ain’t happening.

B-squared is almost certain to own the record this week. In case you want to set the Tivo: ESPN2 tonight, then TBS for three games, and chances are good Fox will carry Friday and Saturday’s games. Yes, we’re really, really hoping Scott Olsen is out of jail and back on the mound at some point in the series against the Giants this weekend. With some confidence, we feel Bonds will definitely not tie/break any record with Scott “Stun Gun” Olsen on the mound. But we’d love to see the two go at it.

For the legal eagles in the house, Barry is not quite out of the woods when it comes to his Federal indictment. He sure has one tough-talking lawyer, though. We’re going to link below to a piece that involves the President and Barry Bonds, and all we ask is that you refrain from allowing your head to explode.
