Fox Sports.com Thinks Rudy Gay’s Last Name is a Bad Word
Uncategorized July 30th. 2007, 7:26pm
A reader points us in the direction of the touchy Fox Sports.com sensors: in a recent summer basketball recap, the website opted to BLEEP out the last name of former Connecticut star Rudy Gay, who currently plays for the Memphis Grizzlies (and he’s about to blow up next season!). Click here for the screengrab.
Hopefully, Fox will have this sorted out by the time NFL season rolls around, or Patriots defensive back Randall Gay might have his feelings hurt.

Gosh guys. Can’t you see how reasonable Fox is being? College basketball is for kids. Youths. We need to protect those Youths from dirty words like, well, above. NFL is for adults. Men. Manly Men. . . .
Wait, Fox will definitely have the sensors working during the NFL season. Perhaps these gentleman would be better role models if they changed their last names?
PS – Found you googling for an alternative for Colin Cowherd. Sadly there is none and I was forced to listen to him once again.

Somewhere in the hinterlands of the Carolinas, Dick Trickle quietly weeps with joy.

This gets the Tim Hardaway Seal of Approval.
Seriously, is anyone surprised a FOX-owned company would do something like this? FOX is the beacon of morality in this nation of ours (Joe Buck “disgusting display,” Sean Hannitty, etc.). Now if you’ll excuse me, I’m going to go watch Tivo’d episodes of the new FOX hit “Which of You Skanks Wants to Marry a Rich Guy?”!

Trying to blame FOX (who clearly hates African Americans AND homosexuals) for this is ridiculous. The NFL’s “jersey-maker” feature at their store had the same problem with Randall Gay last year. Besides, I doubt that it was actually Rupert Murdoch who demanded that the word “gay” be stricken from his site.

I just checked that website. The “Rudy BLEEP”s all still up there and they seem oblivious to it. Also, I found many references to a “BLEEP Zhi-Zhi”.

And Ben Gay on the Colts.
Morally wrong and unpaid product placement, Fox’s censor’s head will explode.

Bstone, I assume you’re referring to my post. It’d be silly of me to think ol’ Rupert has anything to do with this — he’s probably not even aware the site exists (well, not really, but you get the idea). I was more getting a sorta ironic, tongue-in-cheek enjoyment out of it being FOX as opposed to say, Yahoo! or AOL.

Here’s a fun little exercise: trying typing “suspicion” into a comment on Fox Sports. I’m all for keeping the bad words away, but some things are just ridiculous.

I see a new post on the horizons — all sport athlete names that could be censored, like FOX is doing with Rudy Gay. Too #@*&%# funny!

FOX Sports does not endorse same sex marriage.

FoxSports will have an exclusive interview with the Pedro trio later this week.

And this guy wonders why he can’t get any press.

If they want to be politically correct, they should photoshop the back of his jersey to say, “Homosexual.”

Pedro Guerrero doesn’t think there’s anything wrong with Rudy’s last name.

Just wait for the matchup in the NFL someday of Randall Gay covering De’Cody Fagg.

Old news guys. They’ve been BLEEPing BLEEP Jauron’s name for years, then again, so have Bears fans.

It’s a good thing Dick Butkus played before Fox came around.
