No clue if this is breaking news or not, but we’ve got it on good authority that the Dan Patrick farewell tour – it’s been dwindled down to a mere three days – begins tomorrow on ESPN Radio. When he announced back on July 9 that he was leaving ESPN for points unknown, we anticipated a month-long goodbye from the network where he was the top dog.

Never happened. It probably had something to do with Patrick getting another job, but we haven’t been able to get anyone to confirm that. Somewhere along the line, our source says, ESPN decided to give Patrick three days to say goodbye, and it begins tomorrow and runs through the rest of the week. (Full admission: We haven’t listened to ESPN radio at all in the last three weeks, so if this has been announced all over the place, forgive us.)

Who’s taking his place? We had a fun little post about that recently, and haven’t had much news to update you with. One source – and we’re still taking this with a grain of salt – told us that Mr. Colin Cowherd has taken his name out of the running. Seems like an extremely unlikely scenario … but it’s what we’ve heard. Obviously more as we get it.
