Vick Speaks!
Uncategorized August 27th. 2007, 11:48am
Though he’ll have to wait until Dec. 10 for his sentencing, Mike Vick appeared before reporters just now in Richmond and said, “I will redeem myself. I have to.” He also mentioned Jesus, but didn’t talk about specifically the gambling, killing dogs, or bankrolling the slaughter of dogs.
TMZ has the video, should you be interested. Our heart doesn’t quite bleed for Vick … but yes, we’re at the point where we feel sorry for the guy. Sorry he made poor decisions. Live and learn, baby.

I can’t wait until the “I’m an alcoholic excuse” comes out somehow.
August 27th, 2007 at 11:54 AM
Good heartfelt apology. He says he has a lot of “down time” coming up. Serve your time, get back in the game, and move on.
August 27th, 2007 at 12:03 PM
He’s so lucky Jesus was also a mobile quarterback in his youth.
August 27th, 2007 at 12:05 PM
Not to denegrate anyone’s religious beliefs, but why is it that some people only “find Jesus” after they’ve been caught red-handed doing something? I’m skeptical about the whole mea culpa thing, but maybe it’s just me…
August 27th, 2007 at 12:07 PM
Yes, I was pretty good, but I have to give credit to the line, they blocked really well. Peter, Joseph, Paul, Mark, Matthew – rocks, all of them.
August 27th, 2007 at 12:09 PM
Does Jesus gamble on dogfights?
August 27th, 2007 at 12:09 PM
lol @ Jesus.
August 27th, 2007 at 12:16 PM
Don’t forget about Joseph and Mary’s part in the Immaculate Reception. That was a key play in the game.
August 27th, 2007 at 12:19 PM
Jesus, couldn’t you have helped out Michael Irvin a little more when he came to you crying and carrying on?
no Jesus I know would have let his cousin stash a few pipefuls of pot and a weed pipe in Mike’s Mercedes.
I think Vick would be better off turning his life over to Keith, as in Keith Olbermann.
August 27th, 2007 at 12:24 PM
Ever heard of the Prodigal Son? Well Vick is the embodiment of this story. People find Jesus in tough times the same way a wayward kid realizes, if only for a moment, that his parents were right and he will never disobey them again.
This is the nature of the Human phsyche. When we are at our weakest we look to a higher source.
August 27th, 2007 at 12:27 PM
Mike Vick is NOT DESERVING OF A SECOND CHANCE. His statement was written by his lawyer, and he feels no shame in his crimes. He would dogfight again if given the opportunity, he thinks it is a fine pasttime and that it’s just a cultural thing. He will learn nothing from this, and he should never play in the NFL again. He personally tortured dogs with his own two hands and financed a ring that most likely caused the deaths of hundreds of dogs. He has a special place in hell waiting for him my friend Dante told me.
August 27th, 2007 at 12:41 PM
The really big difference between the Prodigal Son and Vick, is that the Prodigal Son was actually redeemed…Vick will come back to the NFL in 2 years…lose a step or two…have to rely more on his passing ability to get by, and consequently will get cut from several teams. Then he’ll get angry and probably shoot someone and end up back in jail.
August 27th, 2007 at 12:43 PM
And you have come to this after your extensive research and investigation, not to mention your intricate understanding of Vicks mind, heart and personality.
August 27th, 2007 at 12:46 PM
hahahahah…..intricate understanding of Vicks mind, heart and personality??? are u kidding me….the guy’s an absolute asshole who is dumb as a rock…there’s not much to understand
August 27th, 2007 at 12:53 PM
Enron…..Very smart, savvy, educated people who were experts at their jobs took illegal steps to rob people of their lives. People who were alot less well off. Were you seeking out threads to denounce and lynch them? Did you?
August 27th, 2007 at 12:56 PM
@Delcostylee –
“Does Jesus gamble on dogfights?”
No. Gambling is a sin of some kind (I’m not good with all the regulations – there are quite a few.)
August 27th, 2007 at 12:57 PM
That had to have come from vick’s heart…
Because I’m pretty sure he can’t read.

“Don’t forget about Joseph and Mary’s part in the Immaculate Reception. That was a key play in the game.”
I always Honor Thy Father and Mother. The op was asking about being a mobile quarterback. If you want to discuss the passing game, no prob. Old Jesus likes sling the rock around the field – short pass to the FB or the go route down the sideline.
As to the specific play – yeah, it was a big play, no doubt about it.
August 27th, 2007 at 1:03 PM
Lol @ Jesus.
Yeah I know peopel only seem to find God after being guilty of crimes, but you shouldn’t laugh. A lot of people (conveniently, of course) do find religion to get them through tough times. And for some it actually makes good in their life rather than just being something to put on a good face.
lets hope for the latter when it comes to Vick.

“Jesus, couldn’t you have helped out Michael Irvin a little more when he came to you crying and carrying on?”
I help anyone who asks and truly needs the help.
“no Jesus I know would have let his cousin stash a few pipefuls of pot and a weed pipe in Mike’s Mercedes.”
Well I know a few Hay-seuss types that would do something like that, but no, the Son of God would not let something like that happen unless there it was part of a grand plan. Plus, honestly, I can’t be everywhere at once. If I am not in a piece of food I have business up here I need to take care of. So you end up losing track of some of the phonies or non-believers. I was only human at one point.
“I think Vick would be better off turning his life over to Keith, as in Keith Olbermann.”
At this point, the snarkiness and haughty holier-than-thou Olbermann displays (at all times, it does my head in sometimes) might make a point with Mr. Vick.

Pigskin, you are a jackass. Go to mass and learn more, cause the message was lost in translation. Oh yea, It’s all a lie!!!!!!

I am everywhere – all you have to do is look. Church is a good place to start, or the Bible, but if you look inside and want to trust my patented 10-step plan for redemption, it can be done.*
“This is the nature of the Human phsyche. When we are at our weakest we look to a higher source.”
True dat.
*Disclaimer – sometimes people take it way too far and I don’t want to be held responsible for all the wackos and nutjobs who do bad things in My name. Thanks.

It’s a very simple Ten Point plan that the Father put together and if you follow it and be true to yourself and just be nice and helpful, it works. Now, We do not condone anyone taking it too far and breaking the Ten Step Path to a Better Life to do things in my name. I appreciate the efforts, but honestly, I don’t need any help.
As for making a change in your life – We think our Ten Points of Light are a cracking way to be a better you. But you do have to believe it and abide by it as much as possible. We’ll forgive the occasional misstep, but if you continuously stray from the path, I really have to question your commitment.
“lets hope for the latter when it comes to Vick.”
True dat.

I need to use the computer. I have some chores for you to finish.
August 27th, 2007 at 1:14 PM
Did Vick really refer to himself in the 3rd person TWICE during that news conference?
“michael vick is sorry to all the kids who looked up to him”- nice bro, sounds like someone who’s no longer full of themself.
This just in, Rafael Palmeiro, Bill Clinton, and Barry Bonds all thought his apology was sincere and truthfull.
How weak was it that he wouldnt answer any questions either? Oh well, Once he does his time his debt to society will be paid, and he can move on to being a WR in the league.
Oh, and were their really idiots cheering for him when he showed up? Seriously, thats socially ignorant
August 27th, 2007 at 1:21 PM
Damn right mustache…I really do hope he gets out of jail in just a year because I’ll be so excited to see him tank at the QB spot w/ the Lions or some other ridiculously desperate team.

I think Vick saying he found Jesus is a bit much. Hard to believe.
Good to see that he admitted lying to Goddell though.
August 27th, 2007 at 2:22 PM
I’m shocked he said he found religion after getting busted.
August 27th, 2007 at 2:45 PM
“Did Vick really refer to himself in the 3rd person TWICE during that news conference?”
Uh, No, he’s just too dumb to read what his laywer put on paper for him.
August 27th, 2007 at 4:45 PM
Vick will be back in the NFL. When you get in a NFL dogfight, you need a QB who can be a gambler. Vick has shown that he has the killer instinct you need to choke the life out of a tough opponent. Who could pass that up?
August 27th, 2007 at 5:21 PM
Everyone knows Jesus has nothing to do with this-it’s a racial thing, and everyone knows it!
August 27th, 2007 at 5:37 PM
Swandong is a picture of spite, jealousy and ignorance. Especially ignorance.
August 27th, 2007 at 8:23 PM
Well, Olberdouche and Kornheiserdouche both now think Mike vick is in hell.
Could Jesus and God give Mike hand before he becomes the devil?
Man, it’s got to be hot as hell down there for Mike.
Come on guys, help a former NFL QB out.

“I think Vick saying he found Jesus is a bit much. Hard to believe.”
It’s not hard to find me – look! I’m over there! – but to keep me, well, that takes a bit of doing.
I’ll try to help Mike Vick. If the Muslims don’t get to him in the federal pen. They can be very persuasive.

@Hollywood Wags –
“I’m shocked he said he found religion after getting busted.”
Me, too. You would not believe how many people decide to trust in Me (and the rest of the crew) when something bad happens. But most of those people forget about Us once they get through the rough stretch of life. Bandwagon jumpers, We call them. Not True Belilevers, not a single one of them.
It is a little frustrating, but We just take it one day at a time and the good Me willing, We’ll see how many We can keep on the path of righteousness.
Sorry, I didn’t want to get all preachy there.
August 28th, 2007 at 8:54 AM
@SpartanFan –
“Everyone knows Jesus has nothing to do with this-it’s a racial thing, and everyone knows it!”
You are absolutely right – I had nothing to do with Mike Vick deciding to fight dogs and kill dogs and bet on dogs. We actually try to reinforce th opposite – to love dogs and adopt the strays and look out for the welfare of those less fortunate.
But the race thing – well, even I am not going to touch that. Trust Me, enough people have used Me as an excuse to do a lot of horrible things. We just wash our hands of that whole mess.

“Could Jesus and God give Mike hand before he becomes the devil?”
We are trying. We’ll see how receptive Mike Vick is to what We have to “sell”. But if he isn’t buying, it won’t make a lick of difference.
Now, for complete disclosure, I am more of a Joe Montana fan myself (sorry, old allegiances die hard), but I can appreciate the beauty of Mike Vick. His athleticism, his physical ability – top notch. He could work on that accuracy and maybe brush on the playbook a little bit, but We were pulling for him.
As God said previously – We have a great Ten Step plan to live your life the right way and be a productive member of society. I have some brochures and pamphlets if anyone else is interested.
