New York 10, Philadelphia 11: Can anyone pinpoint a more crushing loss this season than Billy Wagner choking away the game – and a four-game series – in the City of Brotherly Love? Willie’s just lucky the Yanks swept the Red Sox, or the tabloids would be looking for blood.

Detroit 6, KC 1: Jeremy Bonderman didn’t get lit up in the first inning! The Tigers avoided a sweep! Still don’t think they can catch the Indians, who have peeled off six in a row. The deficit is 4.5 games.

New York 5, Boston 0: Stop. Now. The Yanks will not catch the Red Sox despite this sweep. They won’t be able to pull it off again in Boston in their upcoming series. Joba getting tossed was a joke, but we want to extend a personal thank you to Robinson Cano for his two homers.

Milwaukee 4, Chicago 5: Alfonso Soriano homered for the first time since July 28 and the Cubs took two of three from the Brewers. Milwaukee trails Chicago by 2.5 games in the NL Central. This victory made Mike Wilbon pop his Cubs jersey on PTI.

Cleveland 6, Seattle 5: You could see this coming like a Britney Spears meltdown. The Seattle starters are criminally bad, and thus the bullpen is overworked. So when they get in a close game, an implosion happens. They couldn’t get to Putz, and some fossil named Rick White walked in the winning run, sending the Mariners to their sixth straight loss. Enjoy Toronto!
