Finally: Super Bowl Picks
NFL September 6th. 2007, 7:45pm
Less than 30 seconds to the NFL season, and we squeezed in a bet on the opener just in time. We took the Saints moneyline … wish us luck. We don’t need as much luck with our playoff and Super Bowl projections. Cause we’re good like that (last year we had Indy vs. Dallas). You’ve read through the previews. These are ours playoff picks:
NFC: New Orleans, Philly, Chicago, Carolina, Dallas, Arizona. And going to the Super Bowl … Carolina.
AFC: New England, Indy, San Diego, Denver, Baltimore, Cincinnati. And going to the Super Bowl … New England.
Winning it all … no surprise here … New England.
The darkhorse Super Bowl we wanted to pick, but didn’t have the balls to do so: Dallas vs. San Diego.
We will check back on this later in the season and either mock it, or throw out a shoulder patting ourselves on the back.

Arizona?? Wow

NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!
You picked Carolina…I was hoping for a complete media boycott of Carolina in the superbowl, but you broke up the no hitter. Now the cats are doomed…I mean, even more doomed than their aging defense and inept qb already doomed them, if that makes any sense.

Carolina and Arizona? Man the NFC must suck this year

I guess you have to risk something to look good in the end, but I really question the Arizona and Carolina picks, too. Oh well, if you’re wrong, it’s nothing ventured, nothing gained. If you’re right, well… we’ll certainly hear about it.

Carolina? I mean, the NFC sucks and all that, but Carolina? The Panthers and Cardinals are certainly memorable picks, so if you’re right then you’ll sound like a genius.

Hey, I disagree with Carolina as well, but at least it is an original pick. Look at all the NFC SB teams in the recent past. With the exception of Philly, all were sort of dark horses at this point in the season. And, yeah, it’s because the NFC sucks. At least he didn’t say Chicago which has no chance.

Never been one to follow the sheep …
Carolina reasoning:
-love Jarrett as a WR
-like David Carr (with Smith)
-don’t love foster or williams, but as a combo, not bad
Trends, too:
2002 – 7-9
2003- went to SB
2004 – 7-9
2005 -lost NFC title game
2006 – 8-8

Jarrett isn’t even starting, and even if he was, he’s not nearly as good as Keyshawn was last year (I still don’t understand why he got cut AFTER they paid him a 3 million dollar bonus). I like Carr too, but he won’t start until it’s too late. Maybe Little will channel his mother killing instincts and injure Delhomme in the opener. I actually like Foster/Williams, but it all comes down to how well the o line picks up the zone blocking scheme, and the preseason results looked iffy. Their only saving grace is that the NFC looks like it’s going to be at historical levels of suckiness after last night.

I don’t quite know how to react to this…typical New England pick, followed by absolutely stunningly bad Carolina pick. Wow.
