Weak college football lineup this weekend, and that’s probably a good thing, since sports fans everywhere will be paying attention to the tense National League pennant races. Another mediocre showing for us last week, as we went 4-7. There’s no rhyme or reason to what games we select, and as always, the usual disclaimers apply.

No. 5 West Virginia at No. 18 South Florida – This is where our bias comes in – we want the Mountaineers to reach the title game. If we had balls, we’d take South Florida. But we watch Gossip Girl, so obviously, we don’t. WVU is a seven-point favorite, and if we were betting, we’d totally take USF. WVU 31, USF 30.

No. 21 Penn State at Illinois – The Nittany Lions were exposed on the road last week, but the Illini haven’t beaten anyone good. Until now. PSU 17, Illinois 20.

Notre Dame at Purdue – Two thoughts – Purdue in a massive blowout, or the Boilermakers never get on track and the Irish get lucky. When was the last time the Irish were a three-touchdown dog? Purdue gets going late, rallies to win, 30-24.

No. 3 Oklahoma at Colorado – Another three-touchdown dog we like. The Buffs haven’t beaten the Sooners since 1999, and won’t this year. But it’ll be surprisingly close. Oklahoma 34, Colorado 21.

No. 22 Alabama at Florida State – Tough for us to pick against the Seminoles at home in the State, although these definitely aren’t Charlie Ward’s Noles. FSU 24, Alabama 20.

No. 6 California at No. 11 Oregon: We’d be floored if there wasn’t over 900 yards of total offense or 50 points. Three of the last four have been close, and the home team has won the last four in the series. The trend continues – Oregon 38, Cal 31.
