Josh Beckett Was Obscene Last Night … In More Ways Than One*
Uncategorized October 19th. 2007, 8:10amMasterful pitching performance by Josh Beckett last night, extending Boston’s season by a day. Then, afterward, he did an even better job addressing the whole ex-girlfriend-singing-the-National-Anthem flap.

*Keep the volume down, there’s an F-word in there.

Kid’s nasty. Not to go all fanboy, but he’s my favorite pitcher of all time. Of every player the Marlins ever sent packing – I’ll miss him the most. What he did in the Series/playoffs that year was incredible. When he doesn’t have blister problems…yikes. I just love watching that kid pitch. 27 years old. Sorry.
/gay for Josh Beckett

And I know everyone loves to bash Theo Epstein, but he signed Beckett to a 3-year extension at 10mil/year during his 5.0 ERA season last year. Had he not, Beckett would be a Free Agent at the end of this year and likely would get a 5-7 year, 100-130mil deal from someone. Pretty sure that is a SOLID pickup by Theo. With that said, has Beckett cemented himself as one of the greatest post-season pitchers yet? Can he do that in only two playoff runs?

dear lord, Tribe had no chance last night.
Hey, on the bright side…we get Schilling tonight!

Tonight is the night Bill Simmons listens to Amerie and plays NBA Live all night in muted agony.

I believe today is a travel day, spencer. But yeah, hopefully Carmona will be better than Sabathia and the Indians can finish things off in Game 6.
As for Beckett, the man has ice in his veins. He has ever since the 2003. I’m not convinced he is the best pitcher in baseball, but when the series is on the line, there is no one I would rather give the ball to.

The guy is an f-ing machine. That being said, what the hell was that shit between him and Lofton last night? Beckett was pitching a great game and then he went and acted like a complete douche. Make your pitches and ignore the silly shit.

Helluva performance last night by Beckett. The dude is in a different league right now.(California Penal maybe?)
However, are you gonna tell me that he is so ingrained with white trash DNA that his hair naturally grows in like that?
Do some chin slaps, and lose 1 of those chins. and please try being less of an arrogant prick on the toe and just pitch.

Beckett is an awesome pitcher when he is on, no doubt about it. Both games 1 and 4 were gems for him. Too bad Sabathia couldn’t match it. Both of those games were setup as ace v ace, but didn’t live up to the matchup.
I had the volume turned off because I didn’t want to hear the former manager in New Yorks name. Did Buck/McIdiot have any idea what Beckett said to Lofton to set him off like that? It isn’t too often you see a batter give his almost full attention to the pitcher as he is running down the first base line. If that ball had been dropped, they might have thrown him out at first base.

You know what would have been awesome to watch tonight when there’s nothing else on save for FNL? Game fucking 6! Now it has to contend with me being drunk after going to the Badger game and all the other college games on Saturday night
But yeah, that off day yesterday was really useful

Wonder how much Boston fans are praying for rain on saturday or sunday. Beckett on 3 days rest of Dice K in game 7?
October 19th, 2007 at 10:23 am
yea, i knew the game is tomorrow, my bad.
i kinda wish francona went up to him at some point and said, “forget the curve, ricky, give him the heater.” his curveball shouldn’t have been legal last night, that was disgusting.

I’ve been a Beckett fan ever since he killed the Yankees with the Marlins. However, is Boston a place where guys go to be jerks? Beckett seems like a total tool. For God’s sakes, you tapped that ass and you got Lofton out, enjoy it and let Schilling get the team pumped up with his famous group World of Warcraft games.

Great series, but Mcdouchebag is killing me. Why couldn’t Gibson have delivered on his threat?
“The only thing you know about pitching is you can’t hit it. Get back behind the plate unless you want the medic to carry you back to the dugout.”

beckett is a dick. always showing up players, his own and opponents, on the mound. and was major leagued by the indians bringing in his old poa to sing the anthem.
