Max Kellerman to Get a Co-Host?
Uncategorized October 22nd. 2007, 9:35am
We’re hearing rumblings that on Max Kellerman’s ESPN radio show today (it’s on in five minutes), he’ll have a big announcement: he’s getting a co-host. A source tell us his new co-host will be Brian Kenny. The meandering backstory on Kenny landing the gig is hilarious, but a bit winding, so we’ll try to be brief: Kenny was hard-up for the job, and apparently he claimed to have another offer, hoping to gain leverage on the WWL. ESPN didn’t believe him, called his bluff, and Kenny actually left ESPN. For a weekend. The Monday after this went down, Kenny got his job back. How did this happen? Only the shadow knows. Either way, we’re hearing his new job will mean he has a six-day work week, so you can be the judge of who won that staredown.
If anyone listens to Kellerman’s show, we’d love a confirmation on this.

Does this mean Cowherd is off the air? Or is this just a local NYC thing? I don’t know which is worse … the Herd or Max.

ONE run will score….
TWO runs will score….
I always thought Max Kellerman was brilliant. Just totally and completely brilliant. He’s like a really terrible Jim Rome. Like, today’s Jim Rome. The one who can’t stop staring just left of the camera. The old Rome, the one who made fun of Hacksaw, and talked about Jeff in Sierra Madre (this was when his syndicated show was just getting off the ground, and he hosted on XTRA). He actually enjoyed sports… I liked that guy. He’s still funny. And a lot of the stuff that comes standard with blogging and sports radio is because of him. But I just can’t take the show anymore.

although i do not hate kellerman (compared to cowturd or lazy eye, he is frank deford), arguably the greatest norman chad line came at the expense of kellerman:
“‘I Max’ may be the only tv show in the history of the medium to be named after its host and lone viewer.”

As much as I detest SoCal Jimmy, I’d rather eat broken glass than listen to IMax. Kellerman and Kenny deserve each other, kinda like Leopold and Loeb.

I concur with the Irish Mafia, give Joe Rogan a shot. “There’s one thing you dont know bout me Joe Rogan, I smoke rocks.”

Kellerman actually got a bump in NYC when they moved Stephen A around. He’s on from 10-1 and I listen pretty much daily.
On friday he had Kenny on at noon and was asking him to join up as a cohost and stated that they apparently had an old radio show called Kenny and Kellerman to the Max. Kellerman said he would call Kenny at the end of the show after Kenny said he would confirm if he would take it or not. I went to lunch so I missed the call back.
This morning I missed the opening half an hour so I don’t know if they announced it as being a definite, but Kenny was hosting the show today in the absence of Kellerman.
The two are good friends, starting with their long run coworker on Friday Night Fights, have similar interests and are both from NYC.
Hope some of this babble helped.

And personally I think Kellerman is very entertaining, but he’s a complete New York homer in every sense so if you hate New York, especially the Yankees, you will despise his radio show.

Kellerman is an awesome boxing analyst. That’s all I know and all I need know.

Anyone who wears enough gel in his hair to create an EPA violation simply by washing his hair cannot be anyone I’m interested in. Good luck, Max, in your next gig as morning drive time host of The Zoo 103 in Akron, Ohio.
