At this point, I would rather have Cabrera than Rodriguez. Yes, he’s a bit overweight, but it’s nothing a gym membership couldn’t fix. He’s way younger than A-Rod, he has managed to stay out of the spotlight (playing in Florida helps), and he’s represented by someone other than Scott Boras.

So you’re right… If someone can come up with the goods to acquire Cabrera, that should be bigger news than someone breaking the bank for A-rod.

just because a guy is goofy (manny’s case) doesn’t mean he doesn’t work. manny is a brilliant hitter, and if youve seen his career evolve, youll realize how much better he’s become at hitting. just because he’s a nut in the field doesn’t mean he doesnt spend the required hours in the batting cage getting better.

watch some of his early highlights when he was with the tribe. he almost never pulled anything because his natural swing took everything the other way. now, what was his most memorable HR this postseason? probably the walk off where he blasted K-Rod over the green monster.

He used to be done if someone pitched him inside, but over the years he’s become immune to any particular location and can put any ball wherever it needs to be. you dont do this by sitting on your ass e-bay-ing grills all day.

You know Miggy’s a great hitting talent, but there have been several comparisons to Manny Ramirez that say Ramirez is the tireless worker. if that’s true, I’d be afraid to take him on my team b/c he seems like he doesn’t care, and i’d want him b/c if he worked he’d be incredible.

It’d be nice for the Yankees to get him, they’d have to give up two of the three pitching talents they have, plus someone like Melky. Nothing like ruining your future for a guy who will just DH.

I don’t watch baseball (I rank it somewhere below cricket and slightly above paint drying on the entertainment scale), but haven’t the Marlins won two championships over a relatively short span?

Sure, their business model sucks if you’re a fan of the sport or a player, but it seems to work.
